Movie Ironhide SOLD ON EBAY!
I got tired of looking at my grim, black, dogfaced movie Itonhide, and I started to wonder why I bought him in the first place. That's why this Sunday afternoon's project was to pretty him up some. He is a bit inspired by Timshin's digibash from a while back, so I have to say thanks for the inspiration Tim.
It still needs some tightening up, but I hope everyone enjoys.
Of course now we're hearing about these official G1 repaints comming out soon, so maybe the joke's on me...

*borat voice* very nice!
The paint is a little rough around the edges though. But this is actually one of those g1 inspired movie repaints i actually like since the color, basic plain red, suits the type of vehicle its on.
Unlike a Martini racing car paint job on a stock Pontiac Solstice.

Nice work, but it further proves to me that the G1 designs wouldn't work.

Not bad at all. Paintjob is pretty clean. I like the red.
The head looks pretty nice. I might suggest removing the horns on the side of his head to give him a bit more of the classic mohawk look.
I do hope Hasbro releases a red Ironhide. I still think the black Topkick looks more like Trailbreaker. Oh, well.
Very nice work.

I'm working on Kup bash from a differient figure, so I might have been channeling him a bit. I guess I just a have a soft spot for grumpy old robots.
He will be getting more paint apps in the near future.

I think it looks great. but not as ironhide. I still think this guy is begging to be converted to trailbreaker. and you sir are the man to do it. so that I can just copy what you do. this movie really took the g1 way out of these guys. I think hasbro should release model kits of transformers it decides not to put into production. like that cosmos I keep hearing about. which by the way does anybody have picture of that?

It's not a G1 movie, therefore they didn't take any G1 out of it.
And that is a killer Ironhide!

Venomous? with all due respect, I'm well aware that it's not a G1 movie. I should have been more clear. The last 3 or 4 transformer toy lines featured new characters and old favorites. some of these old favorites paid homage to their distant selves. a black pick-up pays no homage to ironhide, a sports car pays no homage to bumblebee, frenzy was never a bumper or whatever he is now. I'm not surprised but still disappointed that Bay or whomever sold us out to GM and let them dictate what we've been waiting for for 20 some years. If autobots cared so much about their effing energy they wouldn't pick gas guzzling alt modes. as a novice at kitbashing, I'm just having a hardtime figuring out what to do with these figures. I have no emotional attachment to a black pickup, except that trailbreaker was one. I'm also 32 yrs old, so this might be an age thing too. I'm loyal to G1 because I have a nostalgic attachment to that period in my life. anyway, back to tom_servo's project. this isn't my rant page.
Cheers guys.

Thanks to you also for the vote of confidence, but I think I've had enough of the movie figures for now. If I custom another movie Ironhide, I think it's going to be into a Soundwave.
I'd say that all you really have to do make a Trailbreaker is to build a camper shell for him, put a plate over his mouth and give him those antenna dealies behind his head. The only tricky part would be figuring out how to get the camper shell to fold up neatly in bot mode.
You might even use the back of head head as the base for his Trailbreaker face. He had a mouth on the show, but I always think of him with his toy face which had the mouthplate.

It's a Muscle car. Everyone gets it confused, so don't feel bad.
Sweet Ironhide. Thr face I can't see in the movie, but that paint is so awsome. Honestly the red looks tons better.
