I agree that BBs are terrible and that the AQD are just Energon Crossbows with slightly longer recharge and higher stat requirements, but I think BM isn't quite as bad as you say.

Sure, their recharge is a bit longer than one would like, but on a bot with high strafe (like 8+), recharge is still short enough that you will rarely see said bot punch or kick, so long as you don't send the bot into the arena (which is a bad idea for strafers anyway). At least that's been my experience with bots using that weapon. Silverblaze excelled with that weapon for a good long time before I upgraded her, and I have a few bots using it now that are doing well. It's not a weapon for every bot, but it does have its uses.

i totally agree; it's something you bung on becuase you can rather than build a bot around it, an after thought weapon.

however you can take an energon crossbow AND an extra 5 points in STR for the xp cost of a BM which puts the EXB ahead on damag(4strEXB=0strBM). sure you'll lose a little on you're strafes but strafes real damage comes from strafe itself not FRP, and you'd make the difference up in the armour any way.
