The main fanbase is pro Real Transformers, there are some many REAL transformers that exist, it sucks that the Bayformers keep making new bots we don't know, the casual fan won't be into this because there are just too many characters. Introducing 1 or maybe 2 homemade characters in the mist of Real Transformers would work, but when its 6 or 7 new bots it gets watered down. If Starscream and Soundwave get a lot of play I may change my mind, but if Lids and FlappyMcMud get over featured...We'll just have to be patient for the reboot.
There is no excuse for TF3 to not be done properly!!!

Transformers aren't real, so I'm not sure how much of the fanbase is convinced on that.

The only new character so far is Scalpel, aka "The Doctor."

I was watching my Season 1 & 2 Dvds and I didn't see Lids, FlappyMcMud or Bolt...all I saw was the REAL Transformers, you cats like Starscream, Soundwave, Blitzwing, Ironhide, Thundercracker, Blaster, Arcee, they were all there...It would be nice to see more of the REAL Transformers in TF2. If they do it right Ill buy a ticket for TF3, but its not happening this year, not enough REAL Transformers for me.

What does that even mean? It's not like every version of Skyfire or Jetfire has had the same personality throughout each series.

So what do you suggest they use? Rubber suits on green screen? Stop motion toys? Or perhaps the "Roger Rabbit style?"

That would look completely stupid and unrealistic, and would hurt a summer blockbuster more than it would help. You ever wonder why Godzilla hasn't seen widespread popularity or financial success in America since 1997? CGI is the best way to go.

You might notice that Star Wars movies (With the exception of Clone Wars, but that's because that was a made-for-TV movie someone decided to release in theaters) have never made any less than $400,000,000 per movie. And look how CGI-heavy THOSE are.

The Prequel Trilogy, mind you, pulled in more money than the Original Trilogy. Return of the Jedi had the lowest box office results of any of the six movies, Attack of the Clones made more than RotJ and Empire Strike Back. Revenge of the Sith and Phantom Menace are both the highest grossing SW movies.

To put it simply, the Original Trilogy made about $1.7 Billion worldwide
The Prequel Trilogy made about $2.4 Billion

And it just so happens I can enjoy ANY Star Wars movie, no matter how good or bad or Jar Jar it may be.

Back on topic, I bought Skids the other day. Has any reason been given for the different sized eyes, Skid's gold tooth or Mudflap's grey moustache? I know I'll catch flak but since they are so ridiculous I enjoy laughing at them and overall I kinda like them.
