Memory Alpha wrote:A dedication plaque is a commemorative plate that is displayed on the bridge of most Starfleet starships.

The plaque commonly displays the name of the ship, as well as its class and shipyard of origin. Many more recent plaques also display the ship's official motto, plus a list of notable Starfleet officers involved in the assembly of the vessel.

In real life, the list of "officers" is actually a list of notable production staff members from the various television sets. "Admiral" Gene Roddenberry is commonly listed as the Starfleet Chief of Staff.

The Dedication Plaque for the NCC-1701 Constitution Class Enterprise does indeed say San Fransisco, Calf.

The NCC-1701 Constitution Refit also says San Fransisco, Calf.
The NCC-1701-A says San Fransisco Fleet Yards, Earth
The NCC-1701-B does not state the location of construction.
The NCC-1701-C doesn't have an entry in Memory Alpha. :?:
The NCC-1701-D says Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, Mars.
The NCC-1701-E says San Fransisco Yards, United Federation of Planets.

The NX-01 does not give a location.
Side note: The USS Defiant NCC-1764 Constitution Class says Tranquility Base. Which, of course, would be Earth's Moon.

From what I have gathered from watching years of episodes and reading several books is that the Orbital Ship Yards are in Geo-Stationary orbit over the locations that they are named for and are extensions of shipyards on the surface.

The Orbital Ship Yards would be used for modular construction and finishing out of the ships under construction. Those would also be the locations of the "Dry Docks" where maintenance and simple refits/upgrades would be done.

Well not necessarily, Enterprise does leave some room when they explain the forehead thing. They mention something about how there business for forehead implants. Or maybe during the movie the genetic disease hasn't hit all the Klingons yet...

This is set before Kirk's 5 year mission, and after Enterprise, so they have to have smooth heads. I rekon they'll only be in the Kobyashi Maru, since we know that's already in there. But what would be a Trek movie without at least some reference to Klingons? 8)

The Enterprise episode that explaines why there were smooth headed Klingons also said that about half of the Klingon population was infected with the Augment virus.

That leaves room for the possibility for there still being Bummpy headed ones in Kirks day even if we never saw any durring the original serries.

Thats how we saw it but not the way it happened in Klingon history.

According to Klingon history they were bumppy heades first and became smoothed head because of the virus in the days of Archer. And between then and the later days of Kirk the got their bumppy heads back ether by cosmedic surgery or by reversing the effects of he vrrus.

I'm not sure by which is more possiible. We saw 3 smooth headed Klingons [ Kang Koloff and Kor] from Kirks day in the Deep Space Nine episode "Blood oth" with bumppy heads so ether is possoible.

I'm going with the reversal of the virus theory. Klingons don't seem the type to have cosmetic surgery on a wide scale.

I would like to agree. There is also the possiblity that we could see some Klingons that never got infected with the virus in the first place.

I tend to just think that the writers meant that the virus only infected the Klingons for a short time and was cured around the time of the first movie.

Seems like Klingons are really proud of their bumpy foreheads, maybe the fact that humans, in a way, are responsible for the virus is what make Klingons hate humans so much during the Kirk years.

Must be having production issues, or they think it's better as a summer movie. All I care about it is that it doesn't feel like an overlong episode.
