All PCC Mini-Cons have a Weapon Mode with just a few twists and turns. I'm not bothered with how they look. If you're looking for the peg on Caliburst, squeeze the legs together.

I must say I'm really surprised with this move. Then again, the PCC Mini-Cons aren't gangmolded with any larger partner, so we should have seen this coming.

They are gang molded, that's why the Wave 3 Minicons all ended up different colors than were originally shown on the back of their cards, as they ended up the colors of the eyes used for their original partners Wave 3 redecos. That's why the Searchlight Minicon is solid red instead of clear brown (Searchlight's redeco has red eyes) and why Huffer's original Minicon was clear green instead of clear orange (because Crankcase had clear green eyes in his super mode).
