Good question! I wish not! I have question, who is Tara Strong? I know little about her!

Omg... She played timmy turner?!?!

As for the cartoon... It looks like CRAP! Sure, it might look like G1 prime, but it isnt. Ick.

Am I the only one noticing that up until now all of the reactions have been bad and the only good or call for reserve judgement comes from people that just joined today with 1 post to their name?.....damage control anyone?

Maybe it's just me...

Anyway if it's as bad as most of us think it's gonna be, here's hoping Takara will come up with their own series and put out a line of decent figures for us adult fans/collectors.

Yeah.

LISTEN UP HASBRO!

As much as you want to shoot out a cheap, steaming pile of crap and call it Transformers, it's still a cheap, steaming pile of crap. You aren't going to convince us otherwise.

Go ahead and try your pathetic little attempts at damage control, it's useless.

Beast Wars may have been more visually different than anything at the time it came out, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that the CGI on that show was amazing and the stories were a perfect balance between adult/child. This is NOT comparable to Beast Wars. This is 5 year old chicken scratch just like a slew of other cartoons on the cartoon network with no plot or substance, just cheap, CHEAP animation.

Keep crapping out crap Hasbro. We'll keep eating it.
Die-cast contruction. It's a lost art.

Taht style reminds me of the Clone Wars series.

Anyway...

Don't judge a book by its cover, people.

Give it a chance. If it turns out you don't like it, don't watch it. No one's forcing you to sit in front of the tv.

I always read, but never post. I just kinda think everyone is taking it a little badly. Almost as if it's completely absurd that Hasbro market their product to children.

I mean, is anyone going to hold their judgement till we've seen a single episode? I mean, can we at least try to predict the story will be fun, even if the character models aren't what we expected?

This is apparantly the style of the time. I'm actually a little surprised at how shocked everyone is by OP's character design.

The answer is no. It could have the best story and plot and voice acting television has seen but if it looks like a steamin pile of dog poo then it won't be watched. This is could possibly ruin the image of Transformers. Its all about image and everyone knows that. Why couldn't they have gotten someone who does the animation like Justice League. I would rather watch anime, and I HATE anime.

I am not real wild about the design so far, but at first I didn't like TMNT 2003, Extreme Ghost Busters or The Batman and I really enoy all of those shows. It may look better in action. Who knows this my not be the finish product. I am just hoping for a good story.

I'd complain... But it won't change anything.

So, against my better judgment, I'll say something nice...

Actually, if you look, the waist is more filled out than it appears. There's some black on either side of the red that's a shade or two darker than the dark blue in the background. It seems to flow directly into the pelvis. It's kind of hard to see with the dark background and it took me a few minutes of staring at it to actually discern it.

What we need is Anime-style animation with actual good writing. I know there are both Japanese and American writers who can tell a good story, although I'd like an American storyline on this side of the ocean since our cultures are fairly different. It was hard to relate to RID, and Armada/Energon/Cybertron was more of a kid's show. I'd like to see something like Beast Wars as far as storytelling and RID as far as animation. That would be a killer TF series.

.::: You're right. That actually makes it slightly less disturbing. Still it's almost too 'organic' a style to fit in with TF. BW would have a better shot at it, though I'd still have my doubts.

The only way I can see this working properly is if they went "all the way". So turn it into a series of shorts with some layers of Dexter-humour on top. I can imagine your sig-pic in this style and be entertained.

Yet when I imagine Five Faces of Darkness in this style I can only see pain and suffering in my mind's eye.

How is he (or anyone else drawn like this) ment to transform? His arms don't look like they could even move, let alone move back and form his truck headlights. His head looks worse than any other Prime I seen. Wonder what the others will look like. It looks like a costume some one I saw wear - looking to much like a man in several cardbord boxes. Shoot the artist

I truely hate artwork that is drawn like that , it looks like total garbage.. You wonder why kids are so screwed up these days , look at the crap we fill there heads with these days.. Really whats up with artists today , don't they have any talent anymore, they getting there ideas from there 5 year olds school drawings now or what ? Cartoon network is full of this crap already rotting kids minds and giving adults bad acid flashbacks. If you cant draw anything good then don't draw anything at all .

Couuuuuuuuld be! I was a G1 fan, though all I had for toys were G1 Megatron and Slag (and a bunch of Battle Beasts, if only those counted). I kept up with Beast Wars and Beast Machines but never had any of the toys. Now, at age 30, Michael Bay pulled me back in, chipmunk-cheek Starscream or no.

Being a fan of comics, sci-fi, and Doctor Who (it rises to the level of obsession, thus gets its own category), I've seen many examples of what's going on here before. The hardcore fans are always rabid newshounds, so very slight revelations like showing Prime's new model become much bigger deals than they were meant to be. Keep in mind it's press that flier is targeting. I scored a Leader Class Movie Prime half-price off a reporter guy who'd picked it up as SWAG. Pre-release Leader Class Prime! I don't care how many runway models you're bring back to your studio apartment, you clear out closet space for that bad boy!

One thing I learned in Psychology 101 that has helped me a great deal in adult life is a phenomenon called "Illusion of Conformity." This is the very common tendency of people to think that their judgments are more objective and their valuations more universal than they actually are. For instance, it's absurd to me that anybody could think "Robots in Disguise" was better, or even more true-to-concept, than "Beast Wars," but I saw an earlier poster make just that judgment in language that suggested they were pointing out the bleedin' obvious. Personally I thought "Beast Machines" was brilliant and had no idea fandom disliked it until I started researching the toys for my burgeoning collection.

The point is, opinions vary, tastes differ, and none of us are any more important to Hasbro than the seven year-old neighbor kid down the street. If you want fan-service, read the comics. TV is all about the dollars.

That aside, there's reason enough to reserve judgment. If any of you recall seeing press sheets like this for prior American series, I wish you'd post pics, as I never have, so have no idea how much things can change between this phase of production and being brought to market. "Clone Wars" was well done, and the people who said earlier in this thread that the animation style was a good match for "Star Wars" are right -- but how many Star Wars fans thought so at first blush? Any "Beast Machine" fan should be happy about the writing staff, and the voices are A-List to the last, to whatever extent that term has any meaning.

Hasbro goes where the money leads. Right now that's Ben 10, Teen Titans, and all else post-McCracken. Alas Sunbow, we hardly knew ye.
