So I dunno. I don't want to betray my home team, but then what is my "home team," really? Thoughts?

I sugest that before you join the Preds, you take a look at the Decepticon forum. We are easily the most orginised faction (a seriously important thing come the advent of V2), and we know how to run fun games (has anybody noticed that nearlly EVERY minigame has been Con run, and the few that werent entirly con run were run with help from cons).
Also do you really want to join a faction that is run by a squishy spider and someone who cant spell JETFIRE!

Be a pred. By joining a faction you are more "raised on" you will be more inclined to come back more often and play. They need more members too, it seems.MOST importantly in your decision making process (and this was touched on above) is: Do you want to STAY with an established crew/order.tradition within the game, or are you the kind of person who wants to FORM and INFLUENCE the birthing pangs of a "new" faction as it evolves.
Think on it. Tradition can be comfy, while birth and adolesence can be messy. But a new evolution MAY deal with change better than die hard lawmakers and touchy customs agents.
