Now this is the only thing I've been able to reply to in these pointless re-do threads because it's a GREAT IDEA. No stepping on Botcon's toes, and we get one more seeker (albeit a somewhat non-mainstreamed one). That color scheme would rock hard on the Classics seeker mold. I don't see any new character coming out of this line (it's meant as a G1 re-do, after all), but Sunstorm would be a nice bone to throw...

That is great! How about a seeker troop builder three pack? I'd love some fodder colored seekers.

Yeah, I could get into that--would be nice repaint material, too.

I was doing some ebay shopping, and decided to look for two of the three Botcon seekers.

Sometimes Ebay can be in a funk, I saw two completed auctions for Thundercracker, and the price did not hit the reserve mark, and the BIN was $250

Thrust went for under a $150, and I didn't check on Dirge.

MAybe a good time to sneak up on one. But at one point the prices were insane for the three. Then on the other hand, until the emergence of Henkei, a seald Classics Starscream was going for close to $50.

I'd like it if they created more original Seekers. A 3-pack of Sunstorm, the green one, and that other one from that G1 episode would be cool. I'd also like to see more with cameo decos: arctic, forest, desest, urban, etc.

I think they should make homages to G2 characters from their CLASSICs coutnerparts, and/or Diaclone versions.

Just imagine CLassics Starscream in Hooligan's colors, Classics Jetfire in G2 SKYJACKS COLORS! WHoa

And how come we always see construction vehicles repainted Constructicon green/purple, but never in yellow, or orange purple?

Surely, there is a collector's market that would love to see this happen.

I think I'm coming to the realization that places like the TFCC are the only way to do collector oriented stuff like that.

and lately,..the TFCC hasn't given a damn about listening to its members.

My problem is that the same people who are demanding them the most would be the ones who would not end up buying them. These figures (like Tigertracks said) were basically available for $50 a piece at one time. If Takara released these they wouldn't be that much less (after importing or especially if they were an e-hobby release) than BotCon pricing, so why would the people who didn't buy them when they were at $50, buy them now? This is what I don't get. It seems that the only way people would be happy is if they were $9.99, and that's not going to happend. So we end up here, where some people bought them for $50 and are happy they own them, some people boght them at $250 bucks each and are happy to have the figure, some people would be happy to have the chance to buy them now at $50 a piece, and some people will only be happy if they are sold at $9.99.

And seriously, why isn't there this much fanfare for a Skywarp repaint of movie Starscream? Another incomplete seeker set, oh noes!

I would like one very much, and Revoltech Starscream, and Cybertron Voyager Starscream, and Titanium Thundercracker, and Animated Starscream. I would gladly lead a fanfare for all of those to be repainted into Skywarp.

What ever happened to good ol fashion repaints? Im repainting a Classics Prime to get MY evil Shattered Glass version. Sure its not authentic, but it looks good and its a money saver.

Remember all those Skywarp repaints of MP 03 and TC? Those are all still awesome. Get creative. Cant afford a TF, make your own. The resources are here for you even if your a novice at it.

And think of it as a SUPER exclusive, cause you'll have the only one like it.

Im feeling optimistic today.

I made a point of limiting myself to only buying official figures. That's how I intend to pan out my collection. I'm sure others feel the same way.

I've only broken that rule once when I bought my giant KO Skywarp because I didn't know what it was and didn't want to risk losing the chance to own it. Had I known it wasn't official at the time, I wouldn't have bothered.

So fan repaints aren't going to work for me.

And when I did try to repaint a Starscream into Thundercracker it did not go well. I will not be attempting it again.

I have to ask this again, would there be all this drama if Thundercracker was released at retail instead of Ramjet?

Hasbro chose to only do 3 of the 6. Why they chose to go the way they did still doesn't make sense to me. They released 3 planes, 80% of the body's are the same between Ramjet and Starscream. Why release a remold when you could release a repaint, especially a highly desired one?

Plus, as a collector, I think the box set would have looked much nicer if Ramjet were in it to go with the rest of the coneheads.

So I don't blame Hasbro for not releasing all the seekers. I don't blame Fun Pub for releasing the rest as exclusives. I blame whoever it was that decided it would be a good idea to release Ramjet to retail rather than Thundercracker.

Blaspheme! You want to prevent me from owning a complete seeker set!

Seriously, we never got Cybertron Starscream repainted as Skywarp or Thundercracker and no one cared. Was it because there was a character Thundercracker and Skywarp that used a different mold? I don't think so. Yet no one complained. So I say they should release Thundercracker in Classics using Powerglides mold! Then you will have all three primary seekers!

And yeah that sucker is pretty big, but cool none the less.

tigertracks 24 wrote:As a collector who has the Botcon '07 seekers set, I don't think I have a problem with Takara if they do produce them--and whether it matters if I do have a problem HASBRO and TAKARA will not care anyway--

A.) I bought the set not for resale value, but to make my collection complete, and have a cool exclusive--the same reason I have bought the other repaint sets. If Takara releases their own versions I would probably get them too, especially if the details were significantly different enough. As was said, there is usually a difference, sometimes significant and sometimes not, between Takara and HASBRO pieces. Having a Takara piece instead of a HASBRO piece does not make it the American version, nor does it always make it the better quality version, and vice versa. The Botcon set will most likely still be just as desired for its popularity and small production run either way.

B.) Importing them is not cheap. So to say that someone will be getting them cheaper, well yeah they will if they have connections in Japan, or live there themselves, otherwise they'll be paying at least $20 per figure total. Yes, I know my Botcon set cost me $55 a figure. But I also received a 6th figure...So actually, $50. I did not have to import them, or ship them, I got a collector's box, many other good things to go with it.

C. For those worried about the resale value of their Botcon versions, the Takara versions would have a much larger production run, and thus, not likely to be equal in value to the Botcon seekers. Yes, the Botcon seekers would not be as high in demand anymore, but they are still exclusives, and will retain value because of it.

So far this conversation has been very civil, and hopefully, it stays that way.

Question though? Would you have paid $270 if the exclusives were just regular retail figures in regular retail packaging? I wouldn't have. To me an exclusive is an exclusive. Something to not be released outside of the exclusive way of getting it. I would have not cared if I had a box of 5 Optimus Minors painted in crapy colors because I still would have been getting an exclusive.

My whole problem with this argument is that people are not against people getting exclusives as long as it is something they do not want (This portion of my post is not directed at you Tiger). And that is how it seems this argument always ends. But no one ever offers a rebuttal to the following questions?

- If they never made the Botcon repaints would there be this much upset over these figures?

- How would you have felt if they released all 6 seekers and most of them were repaints causing poor sales and the refusal for retailers to carry classics 2.0? (because there is no prrof 6 versions of the same figure would have sold well)?

- And a question I used to ask (which is now answered) was would there be this much commotion from BotCon attendees if the figures we got were complete crap. Now it seems that the BotCon attendees this year proved my point that while they weren't overall hapy with the exclusives, they knew technically they were getting what they were payin for and were going to go and have a good time.

The whole issue is that the set of exclusives for 07 might have never seen the day in which case I think most people would have forgotten about it by now. But since they were made, well, you know what happends, we are still arguing, err discussing it today.

EDIT: And just so everyone knows my personal opinion; prior to knowing about the BotCon stuff, I did want all the Classic Seekers (as well as every major G1 Character as a classic). When I found out BotCon would have them I was excited and glad I was getting them. HOWEVER, if they were never released, I wouldn't have cared because often we never get all the major characters in a line and I was just happy to have some classics at all.

Seekers are popular fan favourites, so of course people are going to want them in these updated G1esque forms. Some people get them by paying a lot of money, and those who still want them but aren't willing to spend the money will get jealous. That's what it basically comes down to. Wanting sometimes has more of an affect on people than being able to get it.

WEll what about my Titanium War Within Seeker set? I never got my Skywarp there?

But seriously GD, patronizing people won't work. It's an opinion, and from what I know about us TF fans, we love a chance to file a good complaint..over...and over...and over...and over...

Um, how is it patronizing? I see no difference between how we got all three cybertron seekers via different molds and having different molds used in classics. Why do you see a problem with this?

I really don't get it either. There are Robotmasters Skywarp and Thundercracker that sit out there and beg to be bought. And Skywarp and Thundercracker TRU Commemorative G1 series just sat on shelves FOR-EV-ER!

I like them, but not to the point where I NEED them to be included as repaints of Starscream in every set.

HASBRO did it to themselves though, setting it up in Armada, and then taking it away in Energon, bringing back the repaints again, in Cybertron, and Titanium, and then not doing all of them again.

So HASBRO set themselves up for this harassment. If only we could just stop harassing each other over it. (:|
