ok, well we all know that almost every pg-13 movie now has atleast some swearing in it. and thats fine in most cases and it is in this one. it made it realisitc. you cant say you wouldnt be freaking out and swearing when a robot is chasing or shooting you.
now the masturbation joke was funny indeed but it kinda went a little far. i know there can be reasons for that (sams mom drunk, make it a real life situation) but it still can make it awkward for teens and their parents if they watch it together and dont exactly talk about that stuff. i know that is my case, but i can live with that. (im not saying its completely uneccesary(sp?))
now all the fighting..yee, its violent but what do you expect? you got 30 foot robots walking around and trying to kill eachother, we know people are going to die, but atleast they dont show it all in the movie. its realistic to show the violent stuff as that would happen most likely if some alien robots came to earth. i dont see anthing wrong with putting that violence in there and i wouldnt see anything wrong with showing some kids (10+). thats of course if you parents out there are fine with showing their kids some violence (which would happen sometime anyways). i starting watching violent stuff and playing video games with fighting and killing and blood and all that good stuff when i was like i unno..9? (i really dont know when). its not that big of a deal. if parents are so cautious of letting their kids see some fictional violence that looks real, well then that's their choice.

They said "Frenzy" a couple times. That's as close as it came, really.

But of course, due to MPAA rules, they WERE allowed one use of the F-Bomb, and still keep it PG-13. Two uses makes it R-rated, and one use in sexual connotation makes it R-rated.

You're quite correct. That's why I'd prefer one place where they don't have to use that kind of language. Also the robots attacking humans aspect. Again it's so disconnected from reality I think a 13 year old would know it's fake.

The thing that makes me laugh about this whole thread is the inference that talking about masturbation is "bad language."

Like everyone is saying, yeah cussing is bad.... But sometimes it helps in movies, because soldiers cuss all the time, so why not have them say a couple of bad words... I mean i saw the movie with my 4yr old bro and through out the movie he just said, Hey look Army Guys.. or Hey Its Bumble Bee!!! He hasnt repeated any of the language from it... Also i agree 100% that the masturbation joke was way uncalled for, i mean sure it was funny since the girl was in the room, but uncalled for... And its like what other posts have said, when a giant robot chases you who wouldn't cuss???? I mean if Barricade was after me, i'd probaly crap myself and cuss up a storm... Im just saying that cussing helps make the movie more realistic, and anyways there was hardly any bad language in the movie.

there was no F word said what so ever. frenzy said OH SH*T along with spike and thats it. i've seen the movie twice and i didnt hear that word being used.

I think the "Oh Sh*t"s are fine since most people would say that with giant robots running around. BB pee scene was priceless. BUT...

BobbyB's mom flipping off was not necessary...that added nothing to the scene. In fact, the whole mom scene was pointless.

The masturbation talk scene was very funny...but they could had Sam or Dad cut off the Mom before she finished the word. That would have had the same effect.

Just my 2 cents.

Not really, no. But the fact that it references self-pleasure in a sexual manner (Talking of which is considered highly impolite and non-professional) makes it somewhat taboo.

It's only ever really bad if you're talking to or are a prude.

Ah right. Prudes. Same as here. Well thats fine, I mean it's not professional, sure, but it was an action movie, not an employee training video. It should be colloquial.

It's stuff like this that tells me what a screwed up society we live in. The fact that graphically violent films can score as low PG 13 (The best example of this I can think of right now is Star Trek First Contact) and as soon as any sex gets in (Even comparatively tame sex scenes such as Matrix Reloaded) it gets slapped "R," is to me a prime example of just how inverted the censorship principles are today.

Masterbation is a by in large natural function, and personally I say kudos for using the proper term as opposed to beating around the bush (no pun intended) and using a slang and calling it "jacking off" or something else.

Significant violence outside of the hunt is not natural, contrary to what some psychologists/sociologists/criminologists believe. People arent normally violent to eachother. We don't go around killing and harming people. However, we do engage in sexual activity regularly. Or at least most people do.

Something normal (sexuality) is taboo, and something unnatural (violence) makes family entertainment. We all know something is wrong with that premise.
