Well, I liked it ok but my audience pretty much hated it. Unfortunately for me, I had some bad popcorn that is still making me sick. So the motion in the movie didn't really help. I think the most heart pounding part was when they are crossing onto the roof of Beth's building.

I know that I wouldn't be able to do the whole roof crossing thing. Any time I'm at a decent height, vertigo starts setting in. It's kind of odd though, I have no problem with roller coasters.

I truly enjoyed this movie. Granted, I would've loved an ending, but I understood exactly what this was going in. This was Godzilla from the ground level. You're not watching the goverment assess the situation. You don't see the plans or the studies. You're on the ground in the middle of this and you just want out. That's a concept that's played at but really could never be done in any way except for Cloverfield.

The monster itself still freaks me out, if only because it defies description (seriously, try describing it to your friends and see if they come up with the right image). I still can't even pin down how many limbs it had (probably 4, but the angles were never very clear on that).
Next up on Pimp My Jeager.

I saw it yesterday and hated it. I had to get up twice because I was getting sick. I also had to get up during the Blair Witch Project, so I was expecting it, however, it doesn't make it any easier.

All conflict, no resolution, what a waste.

Luckily, my crew and I jumped into Mad Money after CloverField and at least when it was done, we were smiling instead of getting ready to puke.

The Monsters must have come from the same place as they did in THE MIST. The "Spider" things were cool, but it was so hard to watch the movie, I just hated it.

Mad Money was cute, and I would never have paid for it, but at least it made up for the crapfest that Cloverfield was.

I wasn't totally blown away by the movie, but it pretty much met my expectations. I can't believe how the audience reacted to it, though. I'm telling you, they downright despised the movie. I thought it was good, but there was definitely no resolution and no answers. If you didn't follow all the vague clues on the Internet for the last six months, you'd have no idea what the deal was with the monster. And we still don't know why you "explode" when you are bitten. That said, I was entertained, and the monster was pretty cool.

Even if the scale was off.

Why were people expecting an explanation of things in this movie? It's not your regular Hollywood dribble where all the answers are spoon fed to you. It's a recounting of what transpired from a regular persons perspective. How would you get answers from that vantage point? The people you're with aren't going to be looking for answers and neither are you. All that is important is getting to the people you love and getting the Hell out of there. Which is exactly what this movie showed. It's a disaster movie unlike any other.

Honestly it was unsettling to me because it was reminiscent of the hand held cameras that captured the towers falling and the chaos that enveloped the city at that point as well.

Overall the hook of the movie is that it's not presented with swooping camera angles with a bunch of fancy fly throughs showing the action. It's not Hollywood like at all in terms of the presentation. And frankly I wish more directors were willing to try new things like this. For me it worked.

Very true. I didn't expect for an explanation or anything, but I kinda hoped. I wanna know where Clovey came from.

Hopefully, if theres a second one, we get something from the perspective of the military, maybe using a security camera mixed with handheld shots.

:BOT: No resolution? You mean with the monster? That may be true given what might have happened after the credits (people claim that a voice says "It's still alive") but the story is really about Rob's inability to say his true feelings to Beth. At the very end, both characters are able to say "I love you."

I think that's a pretty solid resolution despite what happens. :CON:

Me either.. I went into the movie with an open mind.
I knew that the movie was going to be filmed like it was to give realism and make you feel like this had actually happened.
And of course in real life if a monster attacked we would not know what it was or where it came from and I like that “mysterious” real life aspect of it.
From all of the viral sites and Abrams it makes you think that the creature is from the Mariana Trench.
My take on it based on the viral sites is this
1) It was a creature that lived in the Mariana Trench
2) The slusho somehow mutated it or something like that

Now why it decided to attack New York is beyond me.
Hopefully if they make a sequel it can be made like a regular movie.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

I have some news

I don't know if this was discussed but my freind at work told me in the very last scene at Coney Island that was shot weeks before the monster attacked that if you look closely behind a cruise ship there is something falling out of the sky.

Well I figure that explanation is easy enough. He started off going to Tokyo, but Godzilla kinda stopped him and said "Hells no, this is my turf nubsauce, get your own metropolis to trash" so Clovey, heartbroken traveled the seven seas, and when he came to NY harbor, he saw the statue of liberty and the city, got a chubby and said "DIBS!" then went on a rampage.

I didn't notice it. You mean the scene where they were on the Ferris Wheel right at the very end?

If something fell from the sky, thats pretty neat, could be a space monster or something of the like. Although I'd think it would have been played up a bit more in the movie, maybe seeing news headlines or reports on it.

I'll have to see the movie again sometime and see.

:BOT: Just read about it. Abrams said the monster has been on earth for thousands of years. During the final moments, a satellite falls from the sky and wakes up the monster somehow. Take a look here (a minor spoiler I suppose?), on the very right there's a giant splash. :CON:

And supposedly it was from the parent company of the people who make Slusho. And it was destroyed by the fiance of one of the girls that was at the party who happened to be part of an anti Slusho parent company terrorist unit....

No I'm not kidding. Though this does reinforce the fact that Abrahms has no clue what the **** he wants to do with any of his stories. Hence LOST.

C'mon, you know why it was called Lost right. The writers were thinking of ideas for the story itself, one of em said "I have no ****' clue what we should write about, I'm totally lost."

The other said "Lost, hey, thats a great name for the show. Not only will it signify how lost the survivors are, but how the audience will feel when we just start pulling ideas out of our ass!"

"Wait, whats going on?"

"Exactly!"
