I agree with Ironhidensh about the rephrasing of the question.
I think, that a lot of Americans aren't ready for it, true.
I do however, think that the majority of the Americans would be okay with it, but would be surprised if it happened. I also think there's a good chance that because of that last thing (surprise if it happened), they would not as easily spend their vote on someone they would like in office, but think he wouldn't make it to due to the racism of others, then if both candidates were white. :/
That said, I honestly don't care if it's Obama or Hillary Clinton in the white house. Thing is, with Hillary comes Bill and Bill has a LOT of connections with great political influence and there's a lot of goodwill towards him. Obama can't use that influence, Hillary would be able to use it.

Do you think it would hurt or help If say she was his running mate. or do you think there are too many people who blame Bill Clinton for Unemployement and would transfer those feelings to Hillary.

I would like to see him run in 2012 he needs more experince and make his name more known. Hilary would be weird because
of her being a former First Lady and if she were to become President what would that make Bill the First Husband?

I'd sign up for a internship to see if Madam President needs some get back.

It didn't really. Nearly all people in the U.S. who are decended from slaves from Africa have some amount of European ancestry, even if it was from 250 years ago. Many, not most just many, Americans ,for reasons tied to slavery, think of being black has having any amount of African ancestry ,so the fact his mother is white wouldn't really matter to racists.
Though the fact that Obama is the son of a immigrant from Africa and a white American woman and therefore is not decended from slaves in the American South has been brought up several times. I have even seen a Black (decended from American slaves) woman on T.V. who insisted that Obama wasn't Black becuase he wasn't decended from American slaves. She did go on to say that she and her organization (I missed who she represented, though the show was the Cobert Report) supported him and that he had adopted the Black Culture ect for his own. Why she had to keep bringing up his backgroud I'm not sure.
Also I agree with Tammuz about people and power. Anyone who wants to be a career politition shouldn't be elected IMHO. You should run because there are things ,issues, areas ect that you care about and want to make a difference in.

Yeah, that woman on the Colbert Report, imo, is a racist. She sat there and tried to say that Obama is a good guy and stuff, but then she was all about how if he is elected President he isn't the first black President since his mother is white and that it doesn't count or something. It was like she was trying to make rules for it as though it is a game or something.
Even with the way Colbert is sarcastically conservative, with his satiristic ramblings, he seemed a lot saner than she is.
I will be voting for Obama, but not because of race or PC bull, but because of who he is, what he has done so far, and what his merits will accomplish as President.
