Game Suggestion: Weapons (FRP: 0, SKL: 0)

Postby Bravada » Mon Jul 30, 2007 1:54 am

To whom it may concern:

I just started playing the game tonight and I have to admit that one of the things that is kind of annoying is that there are absolutely NO weapons for someone that has a FRP: 0 and SKL: 0. Why? Because they have all been purchased by characters that are level 1++ (which should be purchasing higher end weapons).

My suggestion would be to make all the weapons in the catagory w/both FRP: 0 and SKL: 0 to have a Stock inventory value of "unlimited" so that people just starting out can actually purchase something to help them fight.

I have just fought a few battles where the Missions are level 0-1 and virtually everyone has a weapon. For someone just starting out, it's kind of annoying to see yourself "kick and punch" an opponent when another level 0 has a "poison ray gun" and way-lays into you because they have farmed XP and Energon and refuse to level themselves - I'm seeing people with 4 skill points in their stats and over 50,000 of unused XP - whats up with this?

Just food for thought but this makes sense in the scheme of things when you think about how long it has to take someone to buy a basic weapon (at least someone who is playing and not farming). Without endless hours of farming XP, you basically have to level in FRP with a single point because all of the weapons that are available are for a character with FRP: 1 and SKL: 0.

Anyone agree / disagree?

Weapon: Energy Shurikens
There really arnt any good weapons for 0/0 except the X-ray laser and maybe the Disrupter Rifle. All decent weapons have atleast 1/1, 1/0, or 2/0, and even those weapons are sold out.

Also, you can ask people if they have any extra weapons in their stock that your looking for. They may be willing to sell it for you to buy.

I agree, I'm having trouble just buying a single weapon. Would be nice if newbie weapons were available all the time. Seems like that would prevent the higher-ups from purchasing all the newbie weapons and stockpiling them.

maybe they can divide the weapons between the factions, like they have the mini-cons,that way we could even get a few missions out of the deal.

I dont see why it's a problem that the higher levels are stockpiling crap, it forces you not use the crap weapons(and by crap weapons i mean weapons that will do less than your unarmed attacks). and that's one of the big problems with the the game at the moment only a handful of weapons are actually worth having, and all but the most expensive of these are sold out(as are quite a few of the ones not worth having)

as for 4 skill, the only semi-decent weapon for that is the retractable mechafangs, but really it's nots that useful, unarmed with 4 str does comparable damage, and lets you equip armour(so you increase defence as well as offence).

having 50k unspent xp isn't a problem, unspent xp doesn't make them any better, a 4 str bot with 15k is just as good as a 4str bot with 150K, however if someones spent a million xp and is still level 1, that is a problem.

Is it even possible to have a level 1 with a million xp spent?

You know, when I first started reading this thread I was agreeing with things and felt bad that the weapons are depleted and won't be restocked until V2 rolls out blah blah blah.

But then I see the wonderful words basically accussing those of higher levels of stock piling.

Got evidence of this? No? Thought not.

I don't agree with people hoarding weapons just to make life difficult for others, and I don't 100% agree with people hoarding weapons which they then set up to sell to a fellow faction member. Faction specific armouries would fix that.

But I really am sick of seeing people once again complaining about higher levels ruining things for lower levels.

Here's the facts you need to know.

• People start playing the game, they for whatever reason leave. They've bought weapons, those weapons sit there doing nothing. Weapons sell out. Weapons get restocked. People keep joining, buying, leaving. The data of which bot has what weapon attached to it and what weapons what commander owns keeps building up and and up and up in the database until BOOM! Site gets boggy because the database has become huge.

• The game is in a state of flux with the current version which has been plagued with bugs and poor forward planning for four years. A new version is set to roll out soon that will address the major problems of the game as well as introduce new elements.

Fair enough. To me though, its down to the fact that this is a PvP WAR game. Im not handing kit over to the opposition so they can use it to defeat me, were heavily outnumbered as it, and so any (in game) advantage needs to be employed as such.

I do however think that the L0 weapons should always be available. Why not just restock them? They will all evaporate in a few weeks anyway and it means that everyone will get a chance to weild the mighty slingshot...

you're just saying that so that more bots start going round with crap weapons rather than be foreced to choose the much better high str brawling option.

Just the more reason to have Faction armories, and end the whole "hording weapons issue as a tactic"some may use.

like armor, and mini-cons,weapons should be faction held IMHO.

there should be a limit on how much of one type of weapon can be bought,(and a total cap as well), say 36 weapons for your 12 TF team, would be more than enough to run a team, even if you kept the weapon you used before, and the one you will use when you can,and the one you are using, for each TF.

this would end the so-called hording to a extent, keep enough slots to preform weapons testing, and allow more weapons to be used bye all. i am not saying this will fix the stock problem, but it just might add to factions helping others in there faction, and create a more realistic game for use all to enjoy.
and at some point weapons could be given back to the armory if unit is in-active for a set time.a little price to pay for going inactive for a extended amount of time.but it most likly would be best just to due a restock,
and if(when) it comes time for a restock,we could steal them from a low level Quint mission,or get them for taking a territory over,or holding a area for a set amount of time,or a event.

it's just my view on this mater,or any other GREY AREA used for a advantage.
"if it can be done,it will be done, for any advantage over the other side."
thats how games are played, not the best way to play IMHO,but not all people play the same.HONOR; in games is too the beholder, some would rather fight fair for a win, others will do anything for a win, like any other game.

Ive read it, but not had the opportunity to post yet. Its more fun to make jokes. ;)

I totally agree with Waylanders point that armouries should be per faction, but if they are factional then they wont need to be limited, as to hoard would then only hurt your own side.

i much prefer the method where we don't have quantities of weapons in stock, but an infinite supply as long we control a certain sector, lose the sector, lose the ability to buy that weapon.

that way those who want to horde can horde(but it doesn't really have any point past strategic stockpiling for when we lose the sectors that give those weapons)

we don't have to worry about there being too many weapons in the database, becuase only weapons bought will exist, when you cash in a weapon it's entry in the database is removed.there won't be the 40,000 data entries in the shop doing nothing except take up space.

and i really can't see how you'd exploit it...
