People are always talking about how the RESET will balance out the game. All the things that Burn, Lucky, Red and Tammuz has posted aside--wouldn't doing what I proposed actually balance the game?

I mean, hypothetically speaking of course, if we "transferred" the Levels 0-2 over to V2 and let them sit there for a few weeks before the next set of levels transferred, wouldn't that balance things out? The lower levels would then know what needs to be done to level up. To win, to compete, to enjoy the game. For what? 2 weeks worth of exclusivity? Not much, in my opinion. The champs, Levels 5+ will be able to figure this all out very quickly so a few weeks behind the curve won't hurt them.

The level transfer works and shouldn't require any resetting to commence, if done properly. I just find it difficult to stomach playing the game for 3 years only to have it all destroyed without even a hint of the past achievements acknowledged and utilized.

But then again, maybe running all of us "Originals" off is the plan so that Ryan can make way for the influx of Movie-goers becoming members and playing H-M-W.

Again, the "shrouded in secrecy" song and dance is getting old and overused. Time to learn a new song.*

Word.

* -- Never have I felt that Glyph was the type to be "shrouded in secrecy." I feel that that type of handling of the situation has been a mandate of the powers that be. So again, I agree with Burn in that regard.

I seriously doubt that's the case.

The slow influx of movie-goers at the moment is having a good effect of running older members off. :?

originals...i don't like that term at all, that's a term that people could schism over.

i can't find anything wrong with your idea QS, it just feels...wrong to me to send the pawns first, kinda really evil :P

though i don't see how it would balance the game? remember not everyone whose high level got there through being good at the game, and knowing how it works, it's also got alot to do with how much time is devoted to HMW playing,

one technical problem with your idear, would be what about the teams with big difference in levels between teams, some peoples top six are as high as level 10, while there lowest dude is still maybe level 4?

That IS true, Tammuz. I didn't think of people having cross level teams. Bummer. Well, alphabetically? Ha ha ha.

And the term "Originals" wasn't meant to be divisive. It was meant to represent a group of people who've been playing the game prior to V2. Would the term "Vee-Wunners" be better? Ha ha ha, anyway...

Well, I still think the idea of a reset is bunktastic. I still think that my concept could possibly work. But I guess it's wait and see. Again, more smoke, mirrors, and mystery. Booooooooooooo-ring.

And what of players that have been absent for extended periods of time? Either by choice or Real Life obstacles (Military Deployment, long term illness, natural disaster...)

I was always told that Seibertron.com prided itself on not deleting the accounts of its members no matter how long they have been gone. If I were to return again and find my HMW team wiped in my absence, I would not be too happy. Especially if I had invested quite a bit of time on them previously.

Which in my case is not true. But It would still tick me off.

In my case, that IS true. I started back in 03, played till 05 or so, then stopped because I no longer had home internet access. When I regained it last summer, I started playing again and was pleased to be able to pick up where I left off.

However, if V2 had been launched in my absence, I wouldn't have been ticked off. I mean, it's the launch of a whole new game, how could I expect to come back to something that isn't there anymore? If that were to happen to returning old-timers, they would have the choice of either starting again and not being that far behind (After only a year or so away, I no longer have any chance of ranking top 100 :-() or, uhm, not starting again.

And finally, out of people who have left, the percentage of people who would actually return is in all probability a relatively small one. While circumstances such as the ones you mentioned do exist, do you really think it makes up a significant amount? I'd bet most people just couldn't be bothered anymore.

Why can't both versions run at the same time. Offer both versions. Allow players to create teams in 2 versions and
have two games offered on this site instead of just one.
That way no one would lose any game time they have logged,
still have their HMW v1 team to use and be able to access a whole new game.
With the down time spent either in the CR chamber or waiting for the missions to end it's not like there wouldn't be enough time for players to interact with both versions one after the other.
Plus it would help people swell the ranks of their teams.
Kind of like having a home team and an away team.
I just don't understand why any information would be lost.
I'm not a programmer, but I do know when you upgrade you OS from say Windows 2000 to Windows XP, you still retain any information stored. Wouldn't it work kind of the same way?

Simplest Answer to this Query:

Not enough room on the server. That's what I think.

Room may not be an issue. Processing and bandwidth would no doubt be though!

I joined HMW (and seibs) in '05.

My team is now WELL into the top 100 teams in the game.

What's your point?

indeed i started aug 03, played for about two weeks, then went awol till october 04, i'm in the top 50.

and if the reason for a reset is to give everyone a fair chance of being in the top 100 we might as well reset every time a new player joins.
