Chris Latta sounded like he was getting his nuts stepped on as Starscream, and was probably one of his worst voice-actors.

Maybe, but his insane laughter when he was a ghost in Season 3 was awesome.

G1, the robots looked like robots and the vehicles looked like vehicles, that's the whole premise of transformers. If you find bright colours and gimmicks more important then yes Armadaverse was better.

Yeah, I see lime green construction vehicles all the time.

Actually, I -DO-. There are some companies that DO paint their construction vehicles bright green.

...

I'm just now trying to get caught up from where I left this thread yesterday... But so far, this is the only thing that's really surprised me. Not enough to agree with Dick, but definitely enough that I see the constructicons in a new light.

Beast Wars really did suck until the fandom got used to it, and even then, the good episodes didn't show up until the last two of season 1.

BW season one wasn't as good as season two, but even the less spectacular episodes like "Dark Voyage" were worth watching.

Leonardo wrote:The Alts. are kind of boring and often charmless. I don't understand the fuss. I like my toys to be varied and have at least some semblance of character or individuality.

QFT. Smokescreen was really the only one they needed to make. I stopped buying them when I couldn't find Jazz, and to this date Ravage is the only one I wish I'd picked up... That's purely on principle, too, as he's sort of a Beast Wars homage and we don't get enough of those in lines packed full of G1 rehashes. Picked up Alt Prime and Skids during may when nothing new was coming out, and was reminded why I stopped buying Alternators.

Anyhow, here's a nice big rock to toss in this pond...

The ridiculous accents may seem, well, risicuolous, but without them, Cybertron would have turned out as dull as Energon.

Oh goody, now my turn! *rubs hands in glee*

1. I don't like that Beast Wars is supposed to be the continuation of G1. I wish it was seperate, i.e a new continuity. Or instead of time travel, they should have been an earlier group of Cybertronians that went out exploring and got lost 4-5 million years ago. I hate time travel. :-x To me, G1 ended after season 2, and I like only certain parts of the movie. Other then those things, Beast Wars wouldn't be so odious to me.

2.I like humans being in Transformers. But not the whiney kids though, or the stuck up know-it-all ones either. Humans make Tfs interesting, plus I like it when Tfs are not fighting in space. In space, they get boring.

3. Why do folks seem to buy Transformers when they can't afford it? Sometimes I hear people on here say "I bought 'so and so' with money I don't have" or "I spent my whole paycheck on Tfs." I don't understand the logic. I can understand liking something, but not to the degree of that.
Plus I can understand buying them to complete a collection or because they are a favorite character or to play with, but sometimes I get the impression that some people here buy them, and never do anything with them. They look at them once or twice, maybe transform them even, and then they pack them away in a box and into a closet or attic and the things never see the light of day because they are an "investment." I don't buy something unless I am really interested in it, otherwise it becomes "stuff." I will not buy it just because it exists.

4.Sometimes there can be too much cussing on this site.

5. I like a lot of the stuff in the movie. The new forms are growing on me, but I still like G1 stuff better.

6. We need more Tf video games!!! Especially FPSs and maybe a Tf variant of KotOR where you can create your own character and go on missions, and if you wanted eventually become leader of the Autobots or Decepticons! Wouldn't it be cool to interact in it with other 'cons or 'bots, and get to talk to Prime or Megatron?

7. I wonder with all the Tfs that seem to come to Earth, if there isn't a group that eventually wants to stay and become colonists. You see it a lot with humans, why not Tfs? Or at least they set up a permanant outpost or base. I could imagine a group (or groups) of Autobots or Decepticons setting up camp on Earth and intending to stay a while or forever. It seems to be the instinct of many species to colonise new areas, I think.

I hope this thread stays around for a while, it is great therapy! Ahhhh!

Sometimes there is no logic, it's simply a need. I used to be a completionist with the 'grip', and I'm glad that habit is gone. But in every hobby there are the 'must-haves' whether it's status or obsession (Hiya, Bonger! :D ).

Though it seems like that only Transfans spend all their money on toys and then turn around and complain about it (how much it was, how much the figure sucks, how much better that figure was in G1, etc).

Seriously, do some of you guys even like Transformers?
Is there a secret fear that your 'niche-hobby' is about to become the next cool thing, and to be elitist, you're distancing yourself as quickly as possible? If something as simple as a child's toy can make you angry enough to throw a tantrum online, I'd hate to see how you deal with any real life issues.

Summary: The fandom should stop taking itself so damn seriously. We collect toys. Enjoy the fact that you're not a social pariah and can talk about this with other people, and quit whining.

G1 Hound is probably the TF universe's most wasted character. The guy has the power to generate gigantic fraggin' holorgams, and he barely ever does jack in any continuity.

Sunstreaker is a sociopath who has no place with the Autobots.

Reflector is the character people would like to give a rat's ass about, but can't because he's useless.

The Deluxe Insecticons had more interesting design concepts than the regular Insecticons.

Jet/Skyfire is the most overrated character ever. At least Starscream played major roles - this guy's a glorified airborne taxi that people drool over owning because he was originally a blasted Macross toy.

Agreed that the only reason some people like Wheelie is because others don't. His voice just kept getting progressively more irritating as the series went on.

No one in their right mind over at Hasbro would ever release a toy called a "head master" in this day and age.

Outback has to be the worst example of a living ethnic stereotype I've ever seen. Fosters! Dingoes! Koalas! Wallabies! Shrimp on the barby! I'm glad IDW killed him.

Rewind and Eject were lame and uninspired.

Allow me to respond.

Hound has one of those totally freaking over powering abilitiesd that would totally dominate ever episode if he continued to use it-for logic sake it had to freaking go.

The sunstreaker psycho thing is just something fanboys say to sound cool/edgy and controvesal, and maybe to make it ok to like a bright yellow fag. Because lets face it, Sunny is a total fag.

Reflector is a nerd, so maybe nerdish fan boys can relate, i dont know. Personnal his voive gratted and i would like to pound him.

Head master is only dirty if u are a person who deliberatly sees filth in things, even child related things. Thankfully most people who work in those industries dont sex up childrens tv shows, so possibly wouldnt make the conection.

Blast and all his tapes suck.

Now my rant, and it is this, Japan should have stopped having anything to do with tfs after 1985. EVerything that gets japanismised turns to filth.Headmasters onwards, crap, beast wars 2, retarded and dont get me started on the unicron trilogy-the american comics prove that series could have been good! so why is the tv show so painfully painfully retarded????

Doesn't necessarily mean Hound never has to appear. I don't recall Thundercracker ever using his mighty sonic boom ability for more than maybe once if even that during the original cartoon, and he was around quite a bit.

I'm sorry, but your response to the Sunstreaker comment was incredibly immature the way you worded it, and all I'll say is this: just because Sunstreaker was going to be written as gay in DW's stories does not mean you have to be derogatory. Kindly keep your negative terms to yourself, if you please. SS was in fact a sociopath of sorts, see this: http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Sunstreaker

How is Reflector a nerd? I'll be the first to admit his altmode was stupid, but a nerd? Huh?

Blaster kicks ass (see Marvel comic), it's his tapes that stink. I thought Steeljaw was OK though.

Ask anyone who isn't familiar with TF what they think of when you say "head master". Watch them snicker.

The DS one based on the movie will be part RPG, and will let you create your own character. You'll be able to scan whatever you want at just about any time, and you gain experience levels that gives you access to better weapons.

RE: Just because it is a generally oncived notion doesn't mean that it is true! and the idea of this thread is to get to the truth. Sunny is a pretty boy, he loves himself. But he is not a sciopath, if he was he wouldnt have joined the autobots, would not look out for his brother, or be of any use what so ever-a scoipathic soilder would be totally useless. where as teh navy has proven gays can fight!

p.s. I didnt mean to sound too impolite earlier-so sorry if i caused offence. Although i think sunny is gay, i have nothing at all against gays. Some of my best mates are screamin homos, thats what cmes of 4 years in art college

It's cool. I just have a thing about that term, it's really hard to detect when people are using it casually and when it's being used online. What's more, if you say you didn't mean any offense, you're cool in my book. I know a lot of people who wouldn't have apologized. :)

I'm not saying SS is an utter psycho who cares for no one, or that he'd make a better Decepticon. It's just that if he's constantly putting other people down to make himself look better, and even "diverted an attack by Thundercracker and Skywarp towards a human civilization so as to keep himself from harm" like that wiki article says, the guy clearly has issues.

And I can certainly see why SS could be considered gay. He does fit the stereotype of the bodybuilder checking himself out in the mirror constantly, which makes me think he'd be a closeted homosexual who's in denial.

You know, now I'm really curious to see the way DW would have continued to write him.

You know, for all your talk about homosexuals, you aren't considering that the traditional homosexual look and 'style' was more burly and leather bound back in the 80's. The whole "metro"/pretty boy thing was a later trend.

Sunstreaker wouldn't have been seen as gay back when the show was on. He was just a pretty boy jerk, plain and simple.

Uh, Counterpunch? follow the link... Sunstreaker was suppposed to be gay in the Dreamwave comics. Even if it never really came across, the idea still did get out there. Then again, considering how few female transformers there are, this line of conversation could go somewhere WEIRD.

Speaking of weird... Kiss Players was not meant to be seen, much less understood, by anyone who was not born and raised in Japan, and that's why it comes across so creepy when we look at it.

Hence why I will never speak of them to any of my friends. The idea of chibi-little girls doesn't bother me, but in those poses? No-way will I ever buy one of those guys. And the manga pages to further the story dont' help either.

Anyway, Armada Starscream is a more interesting and complex character than G1 Starscream, but both are fun and enjoyable.

A brick full of gimmicks with an easy transformation(or just awsome mold) is usually more fun than a rather gimmickless complex Transformer. Example: Tidal Wave is more fun than TM2 Megatron, to me anyway. I like TM2 Megatron, but he takes concentration to transform. And Tidal Wave's combined mode with tons of Mini-con planes= lots of coolness.

Tigerhawk is back-heavy, has poor arm articluation, and isn't that great of a figure. His alt. mode is awsome, but he looks stupid without the hawk mask, as the tiger head is pointing down and looks dumb. Well, that's my opinion anyway. The design and concept is cool, but the execution is lacking.

The unsubstantiated word of a writer, in a crappy company, who's ideas never saw the light of print are of no concern to me nor do they merit consideration.

I was referring to the g1 cartoon at any rate.

Lets spark this thing up another level

Rodimus Prime was a better leader and character then Optimus Prime. Optimus should have stayed dead in season 3.

All GI Joe and Transformer crossovers have been bland at best. Please let's not have another for awhile.

Hasbro and Takara are both great companies. One is not better then the other. Fans have the perception the grass is always greener on the other side.

Beast Machines should have had a longer run.

Optimus Prime was a better leader. Hotrod constantly tried to give up command throughout season 3, and he never did too much. Optimus was better at commanding the other Autobots, and commanding their respect. To some he didn't seem like he had a whole lot of personality, but he was in command during a war that lasted millions of years against someone that betrayed his trust and nearly killed him. He has a lot to be grim about, but still has a personable feeling about him. Autobots and humans always felt like their were able to approach him, no matter how much they may have respected him or in awe of him they may have been.

Trying to make Galaxy Force into Cybertron to make a Unicron trilogy was terrible. Sure it worked, but in the most ass way possible. It would have been if they just had kept the story as it was in Galaxy Force.

That is NOT saying that everything TF related is better in Japan. This just happens to be one of those cases.

KISS Players is the worst thing since Headmasters.

We are buying/collecting/talk about/spending fortunes on TOYS about ROBOTS. Let that one sink in.

Having a Transformer tattoo is awesome. However, that isn't the kind of tattoo most women find awesome. Now the other way around is a different story.

We'll spend $10 and up for a toy we already have just because it has a different head mold.

The new TF game based on the movie is going to blow; minus Cullen and Welker doing voices. Sure it's a sandbox type game where you can basically do what you want but I don't exactly remember Autobots running around randomly destroying a human city.
