Actually, that's not half bad of an idea. Just make weapon damage a function of Firepower, and allow the player to name his weapon the same as he can name his bot. I mean, integrated weapons are becoming a major part of Transformer design, just look at most of the current toys that integrate the weapon into the transformation, or the movie designs.

I'll +1 this one into next week. I've really been finding it hard to make weapons work conceptually with my cons as a lot of really good weapons(at least conceptually) are unfortunately woefuly lacking compared to weapons I would rather never use(such as dols, BBs, PPFs, X-Rays, etc.).

The way I see it is that we add two new function slots on the transformer character: one a hand weapon and one an alt-mode specific weapon. Then make the weapons have certain attributes that you select with a system similar to how you equip weapons on the transformer's character page. Like the hand weapons would have melee/range/, then a series of stats that are capped based on your transformers stats(Firepower for damage, speed for recharge, skill for accuracy, etc.), and bought with energon(The costs would be based on current weapon stats and would need to be balanced partially by lvl.). The altmode weapon would have a type setting for melee/range/other, a toggle that determines whether the weapon can be used in robot mode as well as transformed or altmode only(This would affect the energon price and statistical requirements for the weapon), plus the same statistical cap system as the weapon.

And while I'm brainstorming, why now let us have a custom name for our altmode that shows up when a tactic goes off? Instead of 'lameobot transforms into a spaceshuttle and strafes dorkobot', why not fix it where it says 'lameobot transforms into a and strafes dorkobot'? Might not be as big a priority as the new weapon system would be, but it woud be something to place on the 'to do eventually list'.

i really dislike the idea that recharge time is fed off speed, just cos your slow of foot and reactions, doesn't mean your weapons gonna be slow, i'm a chunky bastard, and i stuggle to do the 100m in under 18 seconds, but my AK will fire just as fast as an olympic runner...

By the way, anyone else remember when the Retractable Mecha Fangs, Semi-Automatic Rifles, Black Magic, and Disruptor Rifles were the weapons to have?

I've got $100 twards pay glyph for a day/week of coding.... anyone elese want to chip it!?

No matter what you do, certain weapons will always be better than others. If you balance the weapons out, then you only shift the problem to the stats of the bot in place of the weapons.

But I must agree I would like to see some balancing out, where all stats and all weapons can really make a difference. Because the way I see it, the differences from stats become marginal when you have a better weapon than your opponent, and I wonder if that's balanced at all.

I'd like it if there was a weapon training number system. For instance: If you have a x-ray rifle, you need a training number of 2; an energon crossbow, you need a training number of 5; etc;... You start the game with a 1, and you spend an amount of xps to train for +1 to your training number.

Are there any weapons that are actually better than battleblades at Firepower 5/Skill 2?

Going by the weapons list the next best thing up the ladder is Black Magic (6/2), and then the Laser Guided Sword (10/2). :?

nope. are there 5fp/2skl weapons?

the only weapons i consider baeter than blades require at least 10 Fp

EDIT: as you're a bot and occiasonally frequent the same missions as I, please use the Black magic.

The AWC really needs to start doing their own homework and stop cheating off Tammuz and (to a much lesser extent) myself.

I think I'm doing ok for a lvl 0 team weaponwise now, 2 laser cannons, 2 x-ray lazers and the rest disruptor rifles.
