I'm with ya, Red. And I think the priority after the missions are sorted ought to be standardization of tactics costs and making all alts dual tactics.


Some of the weapons are already in the game. And there's a whole database here to find the ones from the Preds and Maximals that are not already in the game. Le Gasp! What a interesting concept! Using the database for it!

The mission fix would be nice, but lets face facts. Beast Wars ended a long time ago. The Unicron Trilogy and Animated and Movie universes are what's going to draw people. They're more familure with the vehicle alts then the beast wars ones. The best way to balance the factions is the least popular since it takes freedom of choice out of the equasion. I would love to see the missions fixed, but we've been around long enough to know that if it does get fixed, it wont be for a while. And while we're waiting, instead of whining about it every 5 posts, I'd rather spend time recruiting people over.

One possibly way of relieving the numbers disparity is to have a counter on the choose your faction screen for both returning players, like myself, and Newbs.

For Example put the following right below the faction chooser:

The Autobots have: A number of players
The Decepticons have: B number of players
The Maximals have: C number of players
The Predacons have: D number of players

that cuts both ways, it probably will put people off joining the weaker factions just as much as it draws them.

Weapon: Battle Blades
The time is right for level 0 only missions. I have a feeling a lot of newbies want to play, then after a couple days of getting shutout or maybe 10-30 xp per mission against 4 or 5 Lvl 1s with 10+ upgrades, they just say 'screw this' and quit.

Weapon: Venom Blaster
As a new feature, It would be nice to see how much damage our troops are doing. I know that I can "simply" scan up and find the previous % for the opponent just hit, but that is tedious. How hard would it be to add "doing x% damage" to the battle text?

(It could be very hard, I have no clues about code, but if it's easy, why not?)

I would like to see the current character rank on the characters registry tab.

I would like to be able to pick any alt mode I want then attach the tatics that I want to use to it and have different grades of each tactic with varying cost.

Strafe 1, quick to upgrade(1000), does low damage per hit.
Strafe 2, moderately expensive(2500), does medium damage
Strafe 3, Expensive to upgrade (5000), does high damage

And then do the same with all the tactics and give each bot the choice of two or three of them.

This way the alts become more of a fans choice for what they want their character to look like and not something that has to be comprimised because that is the only alt that is ok that has the cheap tactics that are wanted.

I still fear that eventually all the top bots will have similar alts and all be the same.

That isn't a half-bad alternate solution, but it sounds like it may take a bunch of extra programming. I'd settle for standardized costs on the tactics and all alts having two tactics, but the above idea would be even cooler. Either way, I'd like all alts to be choosable without some of them essentially being choosing to gimp yourself. Single tactic alts=BAD. Unreasonably priced tactics when other alts have similar setup at lower costs=BAD.

Oh I agree that it would likely be a programming nightmare, or at least something that is far different then what is in place now.

Standardizing the tactics so each alt class had similar price cost would be wise or at least have there be some reason why one alts tactics are 1000/4000, another 1200/3500, another 2500,2500, and single tactics as well.

If the end result is the same (ie: a level 10 strafe is the same regardless of cost) then I see no point in having different start values provided that its the primary tactic and the secondary isn't cheaper.

The 2500/2500 makes sense because the secondary is cheaper

But a vast majority of the players don't. Most see the same stats on the weapons and look for the one that tells them it has better performance. So what's the point of keeping it like that if only 5 people in the game know the difference?

You already can. Look at your XP score and subtract the win bonus. It gets a little bit tricky if there's multiple leveled characters in there, but you can still get the general gist of things.

not my call...i have no problems with opening the stuff up, makes it alot easier to locate bugs and such, but my hands are tied

Thats true, but it doesn't really effect my arguement of faction specific weapons. I'd still like to be able to customize weapons or have a rorschach for them. And bot modes back, even if they don't do anything.

to be fair i don't think we need to have redundant names given the number of possible weapons; there's 2520 different possible recharge/damage range combinations.

i think... i may have got my factorals wrong and underestimated slightly

EDIT: yup, 4912 different possible combinations.

Which we could divide into the different factions, without looking up new weapons and stuff. Almost 5 thousand weapons, and only a few dozen are probably being used. Which means that's a lot of wasted code that could be put to better use adding more variety and depth to the game. :D (has anyone noticed the emotes aren't linking to the right one?)

there's only 90 weapons in the game at present.


i still don't see why we need to have weapons that only one faction can have. i have no problem including beast weapons, but i don't see why beasts shouldn't be ablet to use non-beast weapons and vice versa.

Same reason non-beasties get more better alts then beasties.

If we were still doing the risk version for V2, it would make more sense. Take over a territory, take their weapons and get access to new weapons.

Adds more uniqueness to the factions, which is something people seem to really want

I don't honestly see anyone wanting to defect because of a weapon name. Doesn't have the same pull or identity as an alt, especially since weapons end up being fairly disposable as your stats increase.

But as it stands, people are already chosing the bots over the preds by a 3:1. If we can cut that down to even 2:1, then it's a win. Linking the alt mode pages to the "choose your faction" page might help, but the beast factions would have to have a alt mode page to begin with. Why don't we ask the general public why they chose the faction they chose and see what the general public wants done to make the beast factions more appealing?
