Sorry but to a a majority of people on this board, the name Maximus Prime will always make us think of the former moderator.

Here it doesn't matter how long you've been using the name elsewhere or for what reason, I only know one Maximus Prime. Sorry kid.

I remember Maximus Prime, the original H-M-W moderator.

And as you can tell from various posts, he was respected, liked, hated, and despised. But he was one of the first H-M-W moderators, and it's highly like that most people will remember that over this newest incarnation.

Unlike, Red, I liked MP. And I think that I received my fair share of bans and praise alike from him. He was respectful, but also very true to the standards and practices of the H-M-W boards. Translate that to, if you didn't adhere to the rules and policies, he'd put you in your place.

He WAS a good guy. And I'd venture to say that he continues to be.

If you come to this board and have to put a "3" behind your name to get it to pass, you can be pretty sure you're not going to be "The" version of that name. Best chance, you'll be "that other" version of the name.

That doesn't matter.

Everyone here knows Maximus Prime to be the former mod and his HMW character.

If you see the name mentioned here it will be talking about him.

Seriously dude, you are not the Maximus Prime, neither is your fanfic character, and neither am I.

I picked my name from an amalgamation of Fortress Maximus and (obviously) Optimus Prime, and nothing else.
Google Maximus Prime. There are so many people that use that username that it isn't even close to original.
Not to mention the Maximus Prime Miniture Pups, or the "other" Maximus Prime on MySpace, or some guy on the Wu-Tang Corp. site, or even some band from Germany, or a motorcycle.
Don't flatter yourself by thinking that I used "your" character's name as my own. In fact, don't even take my join date as an indication that I started 'being' Maximus Prime at that time. The boards went through a reset years ago and that was the approximate date I joined, not the actual. I actually joined the site in the fall of 2000, and my HMW character was named soley from my username.

So no matter what you look at I can assure you that Maximus Prime is in no way, shape or form "your" creation.
You may have a version of MP, but he is no more yours than he is mine.
And when people talk about Maxmus Prime, good or bad, it will most likely be me they're referring to.

Oh, and Redimus, I love you too.

Yours is a Decep, mine's an Autobot. Yours is a really original reversing of the blue and red from Op, while my character takes on Fortress Maximus' primary color scheme (thanks to Whisper's great work) and has a totally different origin...

I wonder if they're still up on Fanformers, but I doubt it.

For the record, I'm not bothered by this. I think I'm just a bit insulted (or maybe I'm flattered, I don't know) that someone would actually think I would go to the trouble of creating my HMW character of off theirs.

I'm also amused that said person believes that Maximus Prime was an 'original' creation.

Ha. Yeah, it definitely has. I've been watching the clock tick by so slowly today. And once I get off of work, I'm going to get my new 60inch Sony SXRD HD Television. I've been waiting for it since Sunday. Anyway...

MP don't feel bad. This sort of thing happens when a gigantic blockbuster movie is set to drop. You have "creators" popping up from all over the woodwork claiming that what's their's has been stolen and what's come before was originally their's. If that makes sense.

I don't think there's any flaming going on.... maybe, as you pointed out, some amusement over naivity, but no flaming.
