ROTF Leader-Class Jetfire Revealed!

Predictable: jet has robot mode slung underneath. Bot has plane stuck on back. Not impressive.

I just can't say yet if I like him or not. The design looks inherently Decepticon and that makes it a little better for me. But he looks like they planned him out in a day. Unless he whacks OP with that cane and starts dancing around going "whoop whoop whee"! i'm just going to write this character remake off as habitual drug use induced.

meh' I don't mind the look of it. Looking at him as he is on the back of the box makes me think more and more that Jetfire and The Fallen are one in the same.
I like how some doucher sharpied out the combined mode picture. Classic.

"HE HAS A CANE, WHAAAAAAA! HE IS TEH SUXOR! WHAAAAAAA!" What's with all the bitching about the cane, it was COMMON KNOWLEDGE he was gonna have a cane. All the whiners are pissin' and moaning like this is something new, the cane was mentioned a long while ago. Get over it.
Awesome fig, can't wait to see the Prime/Jetfire combo.

Wow. If that's the best toy representation yet, then Legends and FABs were waaaay off the mark.
Anyway, I'm going to have to toss my vote into the hat with the few that say it sucks. That's a rancid ass figure right there. I get the premise he's suppose to be old and away from the Allspark for so long, as someone else mentioned, that he needs a cane and has bits of bolts n'such that fall off as he walks about, but, really? How old is the Blackbird? How long has he been it? What was he before it? It's lame. And the alt mode? A Leader class SR71 and its a clear cut case of Silverbolt's brand of "My alt mode's on my back"? Really? Then the design of the character itself? I don't mind reverse legs at all, but the rest of the figure's body is boring, the jet junk (too big to be called mere 'kibble') hanging off his back, and that fugly, fugly head (fugliest the new film continuity's produced yet) make for a term I don't tend to use often; Epic Fail. Seriously, lame & underthought premise, lazy alt mode design for toy form, robot mode both ugly and boring at the same time. I'd say I was underwhelmed, but that would be a compliment at this point. One could only hope this loser of a creation fails in every department for a simple purpose of sacrificing it all for a decent combination with Prime, but at this point who knows, and I'm still peeved Movie Prime apparently still can't hold his damn own in a fight.

I like him. I like it when Hasbro try something new, and they're the cane is very different. He does seem to be suffering from Silverbolt Syndrome, but that's okay.

I'm just heartbroken- I had such high hopes for this figure, and it just doesn't seem to live up to them. I'm seeing a LOT of Universe Silverbolt in his alt mode. Now, I like Silverbolt a lot, but a Movie fig, and a Leader at that, must be held to a higher standard. I'll wait to see some actual fig pics, but I may pass on this one the first go around, maybe pick one up used.

Re: ROTF Leader-Class Jetfire Revealed!
I have mixed feelings about this one. For one he looks way better than I thought he would look like (I wasn't impressed with the legends version at all) Overall I must say I like him ... but a Cane? Guess we have to wait to see the movie for an explenation on that one. (Might be he is old... might be he gets hurt and can't be repaired right away...who knows) I'll must likely get him though.

Aaarrgghh, I sware, I thought I had totaly emotionly removed myself from this movie, but this ticks me off so badly I'm monologing! It's not just as a fan of the toys and franchise that I cring, but as a movie fan and writer. The lack of subtlety and subtext in these films is astounding. I've been trying to tell people I'm not emotionaly biased against this film, but, primus help me, I can't stand it.
So I take it you're not going to go see the film then? I mean, that would only make sense if you've decided to hate it so vehemently before it's even out...
Seriously though, I really can't believe how many people are bitching so incesently about the new movie when it hasn't even been released yet...You SAW the first one right? You KNOW how things look and the directions they've taken the characters and story right? None of this should really be a shock to you at this point, either go with it or don't...Does everyone think that Michael Bay is going to be like "Wow despite the assloads of money the first movie made, there WERE a handful of people who bitched about it so I guess we'll just make the second one look just like G1..."
Just get over it people...If you already hate the movie THAT much then don't go see it...End of story...It's really nothing worth getting so worked up over...There have been a half-dozen or so variations and continuities that vastly differ from G1 and go in wildly different directions...The movie-verse is just one more...
THAT said, I think the figure looks decent...I don't really get the "cane" and the alt mode looks pretty kibble-rific, but all in all, I don't think it looks too bad...

Seriously, though, not a bad-looking figure. Interesting to bring aging into the mix, anyway. I'm definitely looking forward to the movie, just not on my list of priorities to buy many of the figures...

It would be nice, seeing as this Jetfire was a Decepticon, if he combined with Leader class Megatron too.

Maybe Jetfire's legs were severely damaged and was not able to get them repaired before he left Cybertron or the joints seized up. They may be robots but they are sentient living beings and we can all develop problems. It's called giving a character a background story.
Outstanding point and well put. I agree wholeheartedly. Time turns all things- no matter how different- into the same thing. And time can debilitate all things, no matter how different.

I like it, so far I'm digging the leader class stuff.
The Devastator, not so much, the proliferation of wheel-bots, no, but the leader classes look OK to me.

Re: ROTF Leader-Class Jetfire Revealed!
i think hasbro did another hasbro famous number on another transformers figure i saw the image in there combinerd mode it says prime/jetfire combined mode sold sepertly undereath the big bold lettering.
nice figure definatly reason why i hate fast action batterls they dont show the detail as deluxe or leader class does this one shows more than the fast action battler we saw.
only one thing why does he have decepticon symble on the back of his wing in jet mode but on the box syas hes autobot i saw nothing in bio or any logo change on him that wheelie does on his figure.?

Re: ROTF Leader-Class Jetfire Revealed!
This figure is so terrible I'm almost angry.
Luckily, everything that is and was about the first movie already wore out that anger.
I'm somewhere between apathetic and shunning it now.
Should I be surprised the bot looks like ass? No. No, because all the smaller versions of him seen so far and like practically ALL the movie figures look terrible.
Should I be surprised he's an "old" bot and was therefore given a beard and cane? No. No, because we already have seen two HICK bots with inbred, misshapen faces. It's already a freaking Disney-like caricature nightmare.
Honestly, you'd think 3 year olds were thinking this junk up.
It's such a juvenile mentality. "Hurr hurr! He's old so's he gets a cane n a beard!"
Sometimes that's good and sometime that's terrible.
In this case, terrible.
If I ever DID buy this mold, it'd have to only be because they gave him a purple repaint and the box had pimp references (lol, the pimp Destro figure from a few years back!) complete with cheetah spot paintjob somewhere on the body.
More frustrating ugliness from the movie lines, nothing new...

Re: ROTF Leader-Class Jetfire Revealed!
Have any of you actually seen a RS-71 up close? (BTW, RS is the original moniker, was changed to SR after the president fubar'd it)
It is super thin when compared to other airframes of it's size. Not to mention the main fuselage is nothing more than a pencil thin tube.
Unless you think a stick-figure as jetfire would be cool, you shouldn't complain about how much is hanging underneath the airframe. And lets be realistic here; CGI for hiding parts looks great on the silver screen, but not so much in real-life with a toy.
The developers did a great job putting this thing together. If you don't like it, then don't buy it.
Personally I think they did a great job considering the aircraft they were working with.
BRING ON THE COMBINER PICS OF IT WITH OP!!!!!!

So why choose the SR-71 form? Why would a cane assisted robot choose the form of an aircraft that travels in excess of 2000 mph. Its an awesome aircraft, but it makes for a terrible alt-mode and contradicts Bays argument for realism.

Reasons? Mass and size considerations maybe; when did he land? What was nearby? Personal preferences involved? The fact that the plane was no longer in use may have led to that decision. In that case, what did he do with the original?

Not why did Jetfire choose that mode, why did Bay. Also, if he is grinding and dropping bolts when walking, whats going to happen at supersonic speeds. For a robot against war he picked a military craft for an alt-mode, why not a huge farming tractor or a city bus or something more pacifistic.

I think it looks ace, I'll be after this fig for certain. I'm ok with the cane too! Just because they are Robots doesn't mean they all have the knowledge and material to replace worn out parts, wherever they happen to be in need of them. He would have needed Ratchet and probably come 'Cybertronium' to keep in tip top shape all that time so he has improvised to take the weight off his ageing structure! lol, like it!

I'm surprised to say I kinda like 'im. Not real wild about the cane, but the rest I can live with. I say all this assuming that some sacrifices had to be made for the combination with Prime (which I still don't like. Nor Did I like it Cybertron. Or Armadar. Or....)
