Western Shore of the Korean Peninsula
It took a bit of effort for Swindle not to shiver when Darkride locked optics with him, and not to squirm when the interrogator put his arm round him. As an oily mech himself, he was used to these gestures of false camradaerie, and as for the desire to 'break bodies', well, millenia hanging out with Vortex had gotten Swindle used to such desires. Well, not entirely, but enough that he could feign acceptance.
Speaking of whom, Vortex relayed a message to him and the other Combaticons, saying that more mechs were on the way. Whether he meant Astrotrain or another new group, it was obvious things were starting to heat up around here.
So the munitions specialist looked over at Oilslick, in order to address him and Darkride. "What I'm offering, gentlemechs, is simple solidarity. We all know that things are getting complicated with Megatron being dead, and now the big bots are getting hot and bothered over who'll be in charge next. Us little bots have to wonder if we're getting the right mech for the job, but we can't do anything about that in ones and twos. It's only if we get on the same page that we'll have enough clout to make sure the right candidate takes the throne, and does right by the Decepticons as a whole. Thats all I'm suggesting. You do want to have the right guy in charge, don't you?"

As much as Scrapper tried to listen to Onslaught impassively and impartially, he couldn't help but relate to the Combaticons arguments. The lack of apprecation for the incredible work his team, and the other Special Teams, did, was half their reason for deciding on independence. And the desire to shape events....It was the other half. Amazing as it sounded, Onslaught was speaking the exact same language Scrapper had been speaking to his own team a breem before. The idea that Razorclaw also supported them lend him further credence.
Its almost too good to be true, like it were some kind of trap. I don't see how or why any of the factions would have conspired to trick us so quickly however. Can't let paranoia cripple me, but can't be fully trusting either.
"I've certainly had similar thoughts, Onslaught. I don't ask for praise for my work, its simply my duty, but lately it seems even my duty is being spit on by the efforts of these would-be successors. If Megatron is gone, then I don't think a single Decepticon in this system can truly succeed him, as they are now. I almost wonder if any mech could, unless we were to build one ourselves."
"So yes, my team and I want to shape the future of the Decepticons, to ensure that Megatrons will and ambition, the one that put us where we are today, is the paramount objective, and that we don't squander everything he created for petty concerns of power or glory. We will be part of it."
"But that leads to the question of the next step. This base could be vital to us if completed, but it might also lead everyone here. Should we remain and finish, or do you have an alternate location?"
