However, in terms of stories, origins, and bio's, they are very diferent.
I(obviously)love TFs. They kick so much ass over Go-Bots it's not even funny.
I respectfully disagree, GoBots was terminated long before it could ever reach the levels of story and back story that has evolved over time like with the Transformers and their various series..somebody help me out here..

As a fan of changable mecha, there is some room for some Go-Bots, as either nostalgic pieces or filler in my collective.
However, with that said, Go-Bots are Go-bots, and Transformers are Transformers.
Yes, but they
are similar, as you so stated above...and you are far ahead of me, for I own no Gobots at the present time, a situation which is soon to be rectified..
Liege Evilmus wrote:I know they did the whole mini-con redeco homage, but I feel there is enough confusion already in the world of TFs without throwing Tonka's failures back into the mix!
I say it often I create my own stories for my figures, but to many people count on Has/Tak to make sense of things. Can you imagine he war this would create!?!
Could you imagine the war...
"well Primus is the god of TFs, and Unicron is too, and Gobatron is anotherone to now, cause the new ultimate guide sayes that the two merged for a year to save on a studio apartment before they where planets and Spock mind melded them with the apartment so it's all of them in a diferent universe!
Thats what Simon said in Ultimate Guide #38 where now Megatron is actualy Wheelie sent to the past to create the conflict that would make the Autobots grow stronger and have the Decepticons eventualy descide to pick flowers!":BANG_HEAD:

DO WE REALY NEED TO GO DOWN THIS ROUTE

Obviously, Simon with his Vast and unbreakable Knowledge of all thing transformable and Mecha related is a God..(sarcasm, smell it...ahhhhhhhh)I have no lasting love for Simon..can't you tell..

Simon has created his own brand of Continutiy Nightmares so he's not really one to talk..
But let me, an amatuer, come up with a simple solution...(please excuse me for coming off as an ass, it's not my intention, not at all...)
there are a couple fundemental things that could easily rectify the GoBots situation..
1. All GoBots History is stricken from the record entirely..
2. the Gobatron, is a Maximum Stasis Prison in the outer reaches of space, near to cybertron, hidden in a Nebula, and Only accessible from a Space Bridge..The "Guardians" are the care takers and "Guards" of the inmates in stasis...
3. the "Renegades," were villains from Cybertron's Past, who were sent to the GoBatron Prison in exile, to which at some point they were to be rehabilitated...
4. somehow they escape and make their way into the Autobot and Decepticon war..
Or Option B:
1. All Knowledge from the Tonka line is again stricken from the record, and since we are on that subject, I would be hard pressed to ask anyone if they even remember fully, what Gobots continuity even had..as a story..
2. the GoBots are explained like the Minicons, just thrown into continuity, that they are the first to "Go" Into Battle, or the First to "GO" to a Planet to scout for the Decepticons or Autobots, and the first to gather information and espionage..
3. there would be 2 teams, one called "Guardians," a term only given to the elite Autobots, special forces if you may..and consisted of a small armada under the command of Optimus Prime's most trusted Lt., Leader One!!
4. Likewise on the Decepticon side there would be a Special forces unit dedicated to sabotage and piracy, known as the "Renegades," who are Lead by Megatron's personal Assasin, Cy-Kill, and his accomplises..one of which Crasher, Megatron has an affinity for..
5. "Gobatron" is some type of Legendary weapons base that both the Autobots and Decepticons are trying to locate, for what ever reason the Gobots are sent in first to obtain the info and get the location back to Prime and his Auotbots..
(this story or the first one could easily be worked into a cartoon series as side sections of the show, examples like the cyber Planet quests..how they would vere off the story and concentrate on other characters from time to time..)
There's nop need to get worked up on how to incorporate continuity, there really isn't any to incorporate, because it died when Tonka abandoned the project, but Hasbro has it now, and should add it's richness and all the best that it
did have into the Transformers, and give us fans of Gobots a little more the Minicons and Playskool homages to some of the more kickass bots from our past...
that's my take atleast.. take it for what it's worth...
