When Legacy wave 2 pre-orders started on Amazon there were a bunch of weird #1 new releases. I think Knock-Out was #1 in fishing gear or something like that.

It's not that I don't care. I've actually been getting a couple of SS86 figures here and there and think they're bloody great figures, my biggest gripe with Spike is the price. His transformation, which while is cartoon accurate, is basically just locking the arms in and laying down.

I wonder how this scales with the Exosuit that came with MP Bee (the first one). Would be cool if one of the two were smaller, then you could really have a Spike and Daniel.

No no, that’s “Daniel,” and he’s terrible, as a character, and a barely articulated action figure.

Oh I see. I was thinking Spike because Daniel was with Ultra Magnus in the movie for the most part, not with the Dinobots. But then again, neither was Spike. I have yet to open my SS86 Slag, I'm trying to see if I can hold out for all 5, and open them at once.

Yup, lots on interest in him, fir now. While he's been out in a few parts if the world for months, he is still very new in the US and that's all that's needed for him to be popular/wanted.

When he was announced I was interested, but once I saw him in store, at the price point he was at, I simply couldn't justify a toy that essentially lays down*. Had it been a few dollars cheaper? Not a problem. But I suspect there will be a few people who end up thinking like I do when they finally see him in hand.
*Unless it's a citybot.

I'm already thinking like you and I didn't see the toy first had yet :D

Same here, I care nothing for the character and that toy barely transforms. Easy pass at full price. If they were to go on clearance, even then would only be a maybe for me.

Can someone just tell me how much core spike was listed as on amazon? He's been sold out so I can't see how much he was listed for. I really appreciate the info... I really wanted to know. Thanks so much.

Total with tax was 12.71, so 11.99 I believe. Whether that's 'too much' or not, is in the eye of the beholder.

But I'm already feeling buyer's remorse about it. I like the idea of this figure, but in the grand scheme, it's not one that I REALLY want... So even on sale I don't see it being worth it.
I'm not saying no yet... I'll hold on to it for at least a little while.

I dunno, man. Spike has been around since the beginning. I'd like an actual scaled-ish non exosuit figure of him and the other Witwickys at some point (although teh fandum will say "boo!")

That's a fair point... I'm sure there are probably more people out there that would be in favor of that as well then some may think.
And this core figure is fine for what it is... I know I could customize at least the eyes, and probably a mouth. I just feel like that shouldn't need to be done. Being a human character I think that should've just been a given. And yeah, that's a big step in the production process, especially to get it done well, but still.
I'm still really on the fence... Maybe that will change (either way) once I have him in hand.

But I think your idea about non-suited figures is very legit, and those could be very worth-while pack-in's...
Scaled correctly, that's when I could totally let go of an expectation of facial features.
Neck, shoulder, hip, and waist swivels would be nice. If possible, elbow and knee joints...
With good articulation, I'm sure a ton of people would like those as accessories.

*Edit

I just watched Chuck's review... I'm more on board now with this figure now.
Again for what it is... It's fine. And maybe even good. I appreciate the amount of articulation.
I've also thought that this is a situation that would bug the sh!t out of me if I were to change my mind later, and have to spend $15-$20 on the aftermarket to get.
I still say it's a stretch for any Core class figure to be $12 before tax...
But I can live with having spent $9.23.

Not meaning to take the thread off topic...
I'm going to create one in the Collection Forum... At some point...
But figured for now I could share these here.
I finished my Sharkticon Pit diorama:
Image
Pretty happy with how this turned out.

Here's the scene as of right now... This was actually my second idea for arranging the figures, but I may stick with it.
Image
Not saying this is better than what it is, but obviously photos flatten space; I think this looks quite a bit more dynamic in person, and it's supposed to look somewhat cramped (which was part of the reason for curving that back wall), but there really is more space between the Sharticons than what this photo shows.

More on topic,
I won't be surprised if I end up keeping SS86 Spike (once he arrives)... My plan is to use him as Daniel in my Planet of Junk diorama.

And yeah, thanks for the review, Chuck!!

Hey, thanks for the compliments... I swear I'm not fishing for praise; I just know people here are going to appreciate and enjoy seeing stuff like this much more than any of my closest friends or family.

This scene was created with acrylic paint on heavy, multi-media paper. The panel details were just a matter of a ball point pen and a ruler (and some time)... Then those panels were cut down, and glued onto black cardstock paper.
The black cardstock are 12x12 sheets, which were adhered to one large piece of white cardstock.
So the back wall and floor are each 3 layers of thick paper, making them nice and sturdy. The wall on the right is the same, only instead of cardstock, I put the black paper onto a piece of foam core... That was the first section I finished (when I thought a foam core backing was going to be necessary for stability).

Here's the foam core frame I initially thought I'd use for the back wall piece (as well as the finished floor section):
Image
Even though this framing was unneeded, it was the very first part I made (weeks ago, because it provided the width dimension of the back wall), so at least it didn't slow me down right towards the end.

I'll post a photo that shows the other figure arrangement I'm considering sooner than later. But that's not set-up yet, and I'm at work right now.

Also, @AcademyofDrX-- have you shared your thoughts yet about the Lego OP? If you have, I'll go look for your post(s) in that thread. Curious to know your thoughts since you're so into Lego.
