Rodimus Prime wrote:I don't get the appeal either, but we all have our preferences. I think for some it's great that the character is finally represented, for others like myself he would be a pick up mainly to complete the cast of the animated movie, and there are others like you who just don't care.
Rodimus Prime wrote:And that reminds me, we did get a "Spike" with Slag. So now I have 0 need for the core class figure.
Oh I see. I was thinking Spike because Daniel was with Ultra Magnus in the movie for the most part, not with the Dinobots. But then again, neither was Spike. I have yet to open my SS86 Slag, I'm trying to see if I can hold out for all 5, and open them at once.Wolfman Jake wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:And that reminds me, we did get a "Spike" with Slag. No no, that’s “Daniel,” and he’s terrible, as a character, and a barely articulated action figure.
Daniel was with Arcee more than anyone else in the movie, with Hot Rod and Springer being after her.Rodimus Prime wrote:Oh I see. Yup, lots on interest in him, fir now. While he's been out in a few parts if the world for months, he is still very new in the US and that's all that's needed for him to be popular/wanted.
When he was announced I was interested, but once I saw him in store, at the price point he was at, I simply couldn't justify a toy that essentially lays down*. Had it been a few dollars cheaper? Not a problem. But I suspect there will be a few people who end up thinking like I do when they finally see him in hand.
*Unless it's a citybot.
I'm already thinking like you and I didn't see the toy first had yet

Yeah I meant Magnus's group not Magnus himself. I should have been more specific.Sabrblade wrote:Daniel was with Arcee more than anyone else in the movie, with Hot Rod and Springer being after her.Rodimus Prime wrote:Oh I see. But I'm already feeling buyer's remorse about it. I like the idea of this figure, but in the grand scheme, it's not one that I REALLY want... So even on sale I don't see it being worth it.
I'm not saying no yet... I'll hold on to it for at least a little while.
I'm anxious to see Core class Rumble!!

I dunno, man. Spike has been around since the beginning. I'd like an actual scaled-ish non exosuit figure of him and the other Witwickys at some point (although teh fandum will say "boo!")

That's a fair point... I'm sure there are probably more people out there that would be in favor of that as well then some may think.
And this core figure is fine for what it is... I know I could customize at least the eyes, and probably a mouth. I just feel like that shouldn't need to be done. Being a human character I think that should've just been a given. And yeah, that's a big step in the production process, especially to get it done well, but still.
I'm still really on the fence... Maybe that will change (either way) once I have him in hand.
But I think your idea about non-suited figures is very legit, and those could be very worth-while pack-in's...
Scaled correctly, that's when I could totally let go of an expectation of facial features.
Neck, shoulder, hip, and waist swivels would be nice. If possible, elbow and knee joints...
With good articulation, I'm sure a ton of people would like those as accessories.
*Edit
I just watched Chuck's review... I'm more on board now with this figure now.
Again for what it is... It's fine. And maybe even good. I appreciate the amount of articulation.
I've also thought that this is a situation that would bug the sh!t out of me if I were to change my mind later, and have to spend $15-$20 on the aftermarket to get.
I still say it's a stretch for any Core class figure to be $12 before tax...
But I can live with having spent $9.23.
