Short version: it's very very cool, it's going to sell like mad, I'm planning to get as soon as I can. It seems to have a fair amount in common with the Voltron set, conceptually, and I have and love that too. (Currently Voltron is packed up in a tote, but Optimus will become a permanent collection centerpiece on par with Unicron.)

I wish my Spike would show up, but it's not slated to arrive until Sunday. EDIT: Actually says it's coming today. Huh. Go figure.

I may end up getting that Lego set as well... At least as of right now I'm leaning towards it.
Congrats on getting your Spike today!
Could you do me a favor and post a photo or two showing Spike next to Hot Rod, Kup, Acree, and/or Springer?
While I have a few Core class Decepticons, I'm wanting to see Spike next to a couple of those '86 movie characters.
AcademyofDrX wrote:Yeah, Spike is great for what he is, but the alt-mode is super weak. It looked dumb in the movie though too, so what can you do? I bought two of the Core class Bumblebee and I still haven't decided whether this or those will be my default versions, I'll have to see what they look like as a group. I'm not rigid on scale, but I generally feel like the humans need to be quite small. I bought Diaclone pilot packs for that reason, though also to use with Unicron.

Definitely since neither of the reviews I've seen bothered to put him against other figures in the line.

From a scale standpoint he's right and he's wrong. In tTF:TM everybody was smaller than they were on the show, but he's also in an exo suit.
The funny thing is "Daniel's" suit is bigger, but his head is smaller than Spike's. They both look good, but Spike's exo suit seems more accurate.
And, of course, I had to get him in a shot with his best bud. Scale seems right for the movie.
Sowndwave76 wrote:I never got that drone set...
Does anyone think that Core class Rumble will be a small enough figure that they'll include his pile drivers?
Or will his normal little blasters be the only accessories?
I'm very anxious to see what they did for this guy... If his alt mode can't fit into Siege/NF Soundwave, then at least I hope they've made the most of his bot mode with giving us the pile drivers.
But seems like that may be too much for a Core figure's budget.
chuckdawg1999 wrote:Heh, did everyone who got the drone set immediately swap the bazooka for Bumblebee's blaster?
TF-fan kev777 wrote:I think it all depends on whether they make him fit in Soundwave or not. If yes, then he'll be similar to Rewind and not enough on his own to fill in a core slot. My guess is yes to making him fit, yes to the pile drivers, but maybe ditching his guns.

Which is exactly what happened with Titans Return Leader class Soundwave. He was big enough to house Legends class figures (which is what Core class is now) and he was huge.Sowndwave76 wrote:Razorbeast88 wrote:Unless they go the route of making a figure that wouldn't fit and drop a ss86 Soundwave in the future at a leader class price point
This would be awesome. Although I don't think it will happen; I'm betting a Soundwave large enough to house a Core class cassette would be way out of scale with what's already been established

I could see this as well... However, it's not what I want...
Of course it's ideal if a cassette figure can fit into it's leader/owner(?)...
But I personally would never buy any cassetticon just to have it folded up and inside of another figure.
So I'd prefer a Core figure that looks incredible, has good articulation, and in the case of Rumble, at least has the guns that can be plugged into this back.
No pile drivers would be a shame, but I don't want pile drivers for a figure the size of Eject.
Mainly because I don't think those stubby little figures look good at all.
At this point I expect way more from this subline.
