Seems a tiny bit shorter that Earthrise based on pictures since I don't actually own Earthrise. But looks a but more intricate and with better engineering overall.
So basically a Voyager in the same vein as SS-86 Hot Rod.

I wouldn’t set my heart on any of that, least of all redos of Crosshairs and the Deseeus Drones, since they are based on the Siege mold, which was much better received than the Earthrise mold, and it adds more distinction between SS86 Ironhide and Crosshairs, who traditionally are NOT mold mates With regard to the G1 toys and the Sunbow character models. I also don’t expect we’re getting redos of Tigertrack and Deep Cover either, even though the more fitting Kingdom Sideswipe/Red Alert mold is now available to use instead of the Siege “Lamborghini” mold.

Yeah,he is a bit shorter
But the engineering is pretty great on this guy. There's two layers of panels under his feet. The Earthrise deluxe had partsforming and this toy removes that cheat completely. The only other time we've ever had that accomplished was with the MP.

Yeah the panel engineering on the legs and feet looks really well done and compacted.

Alt mode: perfect. Hopefully it has a yellow stripe added, but even if it doesn't, that won't he hard to add. Robot mode looks good too, I dont care if it's a little short. Will definitely be getting the ratchet version.

In the alt mode, those huge hinges on the sides of the van are ugly and - as many others have said - lack of yellow stripes is another issue.
I don't think these figures are worthy their price.
This is starting to become more prevalent I think/feel, the construction of this new Ironhide closely resembles the cheaper product lines for the budget minded right down to the look of the plastic used. While the internal mechanics might be there in terms of quality/complexity, if the outside doesn't look on par then what's the point? I get that these will never be Masterpiece level quality but for the prices these are selling for these days I'd like a little more attention placed on the outer shells. The gaps and cut lines can really detract from alt modes which is why I very rarely display them that way, in contrast to how the G1 line appeared to look almost seamless when in alt modes. Granted the level of articulation wasn't present back then so there wasn't a compromise needed to fit that aspect into the modes.
While some kids may get these I don't Think it's to the extent everyone thinks, otherwise why bother with the other obvious kid lines? Such as Core Class, or for the Spark line etc. I also don't know that many kids getting $35 action figure type toys when most of them would rather get a smart device or video game. Maybe when a deluxe bot was $16. Heck even when I was a kid getting Transformers was a rare treat due to cost versus Joes or Star Wars figures.

The Prowl rumours are in Legacy, its not so much a rumour as we have the listing for a new prowl, just that no one knows WHICH Prowl it'll be.
Also hasbro state that Generations is made for both adults and kids in mind.

In the newly revealed list of Hasbro Legacy listings. Strangely, everything points to yet another new version of G1 Prowl with no "Package Refresh" or Universe tags (though IDW comics are still possible because the universe tags only seem to designate the character's main origin outside of the toys or cartoons).
SS86 Ironhide finally does the character design justice, after the rocky trip of Universe 2008 to ER. I think I'll live with the visible hinges in vehicle mode, nothing I'm not used to in other toys.

Hasbro literally has kid focus groups for all these so called "collector" figures, they don't have focus groups involving fans. And they provide the numbers (70% of TF toys are bought for kids aged less than 10 years old), letting us know that kids/parents are the majority users/buyers. Older fans can't sustain the brand, and you can see this in any store you go to. Sure, the first batch of figures put up can sell out to fans who want the product NOW, but what about the restocks? Who's gonna buy all those fossilizers, Arcees and Shadow Panthers? Sure as hell aint fans. And the first big price jump we saw was in the TLK line when Hasbro rereleased that Bumblebee no fans asked for. And yet that Bumblebee sold out, even with a second factory run. It was the single best selling TF figure of the year and few fans bought it. Hasbro took note, the next film's entire toyline was made for kids and same goes for the Rise of the Beasts line, at least when initially planned before the date changed. So yeah, we have the numbers, TFs are made and bought for kids.

And the paint not matching in hand is not even the biggest problem in alt mode for that toy, neither are the egregious feet sticking out (of course, you can spend $15 extra on an upgrade kit bumping the total price you paid into a voyager class price point), it's how mismatched the plastic and design is in general.

We have a big blotch of black plastic in van mode, followed by clear plastic which then connects to an unpainted window. It looks like @SS. The new one is night and day (and then you add the fact that it doesn't partsform)

I doubt we’ll ever see a voyager release of this guy that looks this good, sans unwanted hinges, tabs, AND have the lower legs taper at the knees like the character model.
This last aspect would be the most significant imo, and even then, I’m not sure it would be enough to warrant another purchase.
My hats off to Hastak for this figure…
Not only did they not take the easy way out & re-pack the ER version, they came up with something new & better.

Yet for Prowl I thought the shared ER Bluestreak mold was pretty darn good, fragile windows aside, so why not a simple reissue of that only not using clear plastic this time? I guess because Ironhide is all new people expect Prowl to be as well? And if it's a Generations release then wouldn't a reissue be more likely than new mold?
Seeing these two in the pipeline do tempt me into selling my ER 2pk and hoping I can at least get back half of what I paid. At the same time I don't want to sell it off only to find out I don't like the new version of Prowl. lol

Yeah I'd wait on selling Prowl, so far all we know about that Prowl listing is that it isn't a direct rerelease, so it could be a retooled/new G1 Prowl (gross) or it could be any other Prowl.Till-all-R1 wrote:Okay so with what all was wrong with Seige/ER Ironhide I get doing a new version ground up.Jelze Bunnycat wrote:In the newly revealed list of Hasbro Legacy listings. Agreed... Knowing I'm getting SS86 Ironhide, I still plan on keeping the ER version.
Here's my guess for this new Legacy Prowl--
If this would've been a listing for a Prowl in the SS86 line, then imo that would strongly point towards a brand-new mold like this new Ironhide.
But because this will be the second year of Legacy, along with the ER Datsun mold being used plenty already, I'm assuming it's going to represent something outside of G1.
Oh, also because a new mold for Prowl would open the door for using said mold for all of the other Datsun bros... And is Hastak really going to recycle all of them this soon??
It's a valid point though that without some series/universe name within the listing, a G1 version isn't completely out of the question.
And who knows, since Hastak can do whatever they want. A new G1 Prowl that coulda shoulda woulda been included in SS86 may easily have been switched to the main Legacy line.
I know it would seem unnecessary, but then I think to some of the major changes Hastak has made recently...
SS86 Kup in the Buzzworthy line being more accurate than his original SS86 release... The only SS86 Cliffjumper being released in the Buzzworthy line... Override and Cosmos starting as retools but being changed to brand-new molds... I still think Kickback's chestplate was originally going to be spring-loaded; there's absolutely no reason for those relatively large pins at the base of that piece... People have talked about pins costing money both in terms of the material and the manufacturing; well that was one hell of a waste of both just to help hold that piece in place. So there's a substantial change that truly impacted the production aspect of a figure.
And then of course this new SS86 Ironhide. It's not super common for a character outside of OP, Megs, Bee, or SS to be given multiple versions that include a new mold within such a short timespan.
So again, who knows... My gut feeling could be 100% wrong. With an IDW Blurr out now, maybe they'll do the same here with Prowl.
If it is a new G1 version, and it's as relatively good as this new Ironhide, then a lot of people will be happy, no matter the packaging.
