The kind found in the Ark books are the black and white concept models.Cyberpath wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Not for the Female Autobots. Those have yet to surface.triKlops wrote:OK folks, random sidebar in this convo.
Doesn't Jim Sorenson's ,"The Ark" the complete edition, have all of the character models for each character in the G1 series?
Its been a while since I looked at my copy but i remember it being pretty comprehensive for what it was.
Some of them showed up on eBay.

And they need to make sure he has some sort of large orange forcefield accessory!

That's been the general consensus I have been hearing as well. I have heard of several options for MP39 and 40 that makes it sound like those 2 aren't in those slots, but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes longer than 41 or 42 to get Trailbreaker

I think 39 will be Cheetor repainted into Tigatron, and 40 will be Trailbreaker. I haven't heard any other rumors other than Jazz (won't happen) or Hound (strong possibility).

Sabrblade wrote:What? Grapple's back was visible in the cartoon. In both modes:fenrir72 wrote:And we never saw the entire back of MP Grapple yet Takara did the "impossible".
So Takara had something to work with in making the backsides of Grapple's MP. But the backside of Elita's vehicle mode, however, was never seen.Whether WE noticed those or not is irrelevant since that butt flap and red bumper were both visible onscreen.fenrir72 wrote:We rarely took noticed of UMs butt flap and red bumper yet Takara "transformed" them into reality!
The backside of Elita's altmode, however, was not.Again, this also irrelevant since that Chromia toy wasn't trying to replicate her exact cartoon design, which is what the MPs now do.fenrir72 wrote:They retooled the Arcee mold into Chromia who had a boxy mode which they converted into a cycle.I really don't think you understood what I was saying.fenrir72 wrote:Arcee herself was the product of the impossible a few years back. And? I did not go to a specific poster to insist my own very subjective point of view. So what's the quote for?
The post simply seemed to concern the assertiveness of one's opinion as fact - and not the other problem you had that you replied to me with - which seemed hypocritical at the time. However, my post was a bit too snarky and passive-aggressive in tone than it should have been, so for that I apologise.

Well that very finely crafted quote made it appear I was the badguy when in fact the other smart ass poster who shall not be named was actually badgering my post and views.
The original post wasn't even focused on him. So who is the hypocrite ( that term wasn't started by me )then? I posted a non absolute statement of "almost perfect" then Mr Snarky kept on badgering the "No IT AIN'T! Not even NEAR PERFECT".
Now I'm a hypocrite (choose your words carefully)? The half assed apology too has been negated by calling me a hypocrite you purveyor of adjectival prowess!
Oh what a slow day indeed............

If I could direct your attention to the words around 'hypocritical', most notably 'seemed' and 'at the time', which completely changes the meaning from "you are a hypocrite" to "I thought you were a hypocrite before, but I no longer hold that opinion".
Again, I apologise for my original post and for originally holding the opinion that you were being hypocritical. Shall we leave it there?
My point is, one cannot make a faithful recreation of something that has never been fully seen before. How would Takara be able to make a toy of Elita that transforms into a cartoon-accurate representation of her cartoon altmode if her cartoon altmode has never been fully seen before from any angle that enabled the entirety of her altmode (rather than just its front) to be fully visible and not obscured by Optimus? They'd have to make up a design for the back end in order to pull it off, but making up completely new designs up is not what the MP line does these days.fenrir72 wrote:Grapple didn't have the butt flap as seen on the MP.
G1 animation was the stellar example of consistency. Iirc, someone posted a model sheet of UM butt flap which never showed up until like later. Etc etc
Oh I know what you meant. Takara basing a product off a graphical representation at very limited angle.
Never say never is all I say. You did over compensate for the collage though.![]()

A much better comparison would be like if Takara wanted to make a cartoon-accurate MP human mini-figure of Spike's mother/Sparkplug's wife, when said woman was never seen in the cartoon before.
So, Sparkplug gave birth to Spike, then? Or did Spike just pop out of thin air? Or was it Midichlorians?fenrir72 wrote:Bad analogy. There never ever ever ever was a Mrs. Witwicky.

Has to be it, Expectane wouldn't be created until 10 years from then. Raise your hand if you get the reference
At any rate, there's still the possibility that even though we never got see Elita-1's vehicle mode in full glory in the cartoon, there may still be a character model for that mode somewhere in the archives, thus making an MP possible.
But the hitch is that Japanese culture is still a bit on the male-centric side. Arcee may get a MP-release, but only for her role in 2010 as she's "dumbed down" in Headmasters (seriously). Nope, I see the Insecticons and Reflector as more likely to be chosen.
