PS: You conveniently left out a shot of the back
I just mean that he looks super close to the cartoon model from many many angles, but not the back.
Pretty close with the Stand clipped on, though?
Personally, one of my biggest pet peeves, is having a stand in one mode, just for display purposes, and then in the other mode, it's used as a weapon or something other than a stand. (*cough cough* MP Starsaber *cough cough*)
Why are you peeved? At least you don't get those useless extra clutter that eventually gets lost. In Starsaber's case, he DID use the shield/stand accessory in one of the last episodes of the series.
My point is, did he have it as a stand in vehicle mode? It's one thing to have a transparent flight stand, that can be used in both modes (MP Tracks), but it's another thing when the only thing you use the shield for in vehicle mode is a flight stand. I would much rather the shield actually integrate into the vehicle mode in a way that makes sense in fiction, than it just be a flight stand. How many times do you see Starsaber in the show, transform into vehicle mode, and his shield becomes a flight stand, so he can pretend he's flying like his daddy? In case you didn't notice, I am all about realism. I am okay about g1 Megatron and Soundwave, cuz that's the eighties. When you are talking about a 21st century Transformer figure, that has a gimmick that could in no way whatsoever be replicated in a show and still make sense, it annoys me.

The stand is a practical purpose application accessory. Of COURSE you won't see "the stand"flying during the flight sequences in the anime. That's one fricked up logic
. But if you also follow that asinine logic, no where in the anime did we see Starscream and the Seekers fly with their display stand on. Fyi, those flight stands are pretty much useless unless you stick it in his butt in robot mode to do some dramatic poses.Or jet plane mode as a display piece. Takara and later TT incorporated those stands for us fans to pose our stuff, just like Gundam and figma products.
Starsaber shield is, well you can pose him WITH the shield to try and recreate some of the scenes in the anime.

I had to do it.

In that case, of course the G1 toy got the backpack right. The cartoon model was based on the toy (not vice-versa like this MP).Seibertron wrote:Sabrblade wrote:This is meant to be a funny, right?Seibertron wrote:That's a bummer about the backpack. They got it right on the G1 toy!
No it's not a "funny".

I don't understand what your point is. Shockwave's a pretty basic Transformer as far as where the parts on him go when he's in robot mode and in gun mode. So where does the back part of the gun with the radar go when he transforms on the Masterpiece figure?

warzon3 wrote:I don't like the Backpack partsforming.
It makes more sense for the barrel to partform, just in general toy sense and also because there is already a history of it.
I will not use it as a stand, so it will just be cumbersome... at least the barrel is smaller and easier to put off to the side.

Continued due to the ISP fart.
I don't recall Megatron and Soundwave MP having transparent stands. So your using them as examples is also quite confusing to me.
YES! That is EXACTLY what the shield did in its sole appearance. In fact, that is what EVERY handheld weapon (minus Star Saber's sword) did in the Victory cartoon. That was one of that series's things that it did on a regular basis.SillySpringer wrote: Also, my point was, with the shield/stand, is that when it's a stand, I'm supposed to pretend it's not there, but as a shield, I'm supposed to pretend it is there. What does he do, does his shield just appear out of this air?

I wasn't using Megs and Soundwave as examples of stands, I was just merely using them as examples of characters that don't make sense, yet I'm fine about them.

That's one gripe I have about this Shockwave, is the stand/backpack, but at least I don't actually NEED it. I could leave it off if I wanted to.
I could even pretend that the stand is actually a practical piece, and that it supports him in alt mode, so he can shoot Bots by himself, instead of him flying around like in the G1 comics and stuff. At least when I pretend that, it's not just a stand that you are supposed to ignore till robot mode, when it goes on his back.
Sorry about the long comment.
