Wolfman Jake wrote:Wow, I never even noticed that about the cockpit on MP-11 before. I don't know why everyone is being so hard on poor Ironhide either. None of the MP's are EXACT replicas of the character models from G1, but they try as best they can. I think perhaps people were spoiled by MP-10, because that is THE definitive Optimus Prime in robot form. But honestly, to achieve that, the vehicle mode suffers. Yes, the cab looks amazing on MP-10, but the trailer bed looks like Optimus Prime's legs, not a real truck bed, at all. The Masterpiece cars all go for greater vehicle authenticity first, because they are licensed, and need to look realistic enough for Takara to fulfill their end of the agreement with the car manufactures to be able to sell them with their official logos. That means the concessions are going to skew more heavily towards the bot mode. There's no such need for a such a restrictions with Prime, being that his truck mode is not licensed. Even though I don't think MP-11 is licensed either, they obviously tried to make the jet mode as authentic looking as possible (if you don't look at the bottom). Even Masterpiece Soundwave looks a little funky in tape deck mode, being just a bit too thick and with some funny looking stuff crammed into the back. There's nothing new or surprising about this Masterpiece Ironhide. I can't wait to have it in my collection either.

While I do understand the frustration (I as a relatively new collector feel that frustration with Starscream and judge him alongside the others equally), the one for Ultra Magnus confuses me to no end. The MP line especially since MP 10 has all been about being as toon accurate as possible. So the complaint that Magnus isnt an individual white prime really confuses me because that was never in the show. Thats just a leftover from the toy being a repurposed Optimus super mode toy. That was never part of fiction in the G1 show so I don see why the toy would need it. And plus there was a white prime as Ultra Magnus in the MP line already.

I meant the endless b!tchin' about his butt flap to go with ironhide hip flaps, and other tiny quibbles that ruined mp magnus' unveiling

This x infinity!!!!!!!!!!! On the money!
So much b!tch*n' on such a high standards that we'd just end up with no actual product if we listen to all those bellyachers out there who want this or that *. (Who most probably are b*tchin' that their 3rd party IH will now be relegated to the dustbin of fandom as the same thing happened to "not Springer" when the official Springer was released)
* This sort of reminds me of an episode in the Simpsons when Homer got his rich and genius stepbrother to design a clunker of a concept car. Everyone wants this or that..............jeez louizzzzzzzzzze!

phantom1592 wrote:Comparing-wise to MP-11, were there any fabulous high-end 3pp Starscreams around to compare it to?
I think that is one of the problems, MP Ironhide is trying to compare with a few different versions of himself floating around and the expectations of 'official' are pretty high. I know that I will probably get THIS ironhide... but I have an Igear Ratchet that will probably serve as my ratchet.
Was MP Starscream the only one and true idealistic starscream when he was released? or did fans have some choices at the time?

Humans will always b#tch about something. Like how many angels can stand on a needle's head etc.

And technically, I'm bitching about people bitching about bitching. So the tradition continues.
