Animated Rodimus is a better masterpiece figure than masterpiece Rodimus is.

Is that because you really like TFA Rodimus or really dislike MP-28?

A bit of both. The animated figure is just a very well done figure, for the character. This new MP Rodimus simply doesn't cut it for me. It doesn't look like a MP.

I feel a similar vibe. Sometimes, yes the complex transformations are needed and more desired on a masterpiece, but in this case, maybe going as complex as they did may have hurt it a bit. the accessories make him look good and he can get some good poses, I just wish the backpack was a bit smaller, even if the layer of car on the outside ended up hidden in the legs so the backpack could compress just a bit

Complexity should only be used if its needed. My biggest problems with 3ps is how they are overly complex to the point where it works against them. There is as much ingenuity in simplicity than there is in complexity. The Animated line is a good example of this. MP-10 for as much as it is loved isn't all that complex, and that's fine. It's just a slightly more complex version that his G1 self where the back of the cab becomes his legs, his head flips out from within the cab and his arms come out of the sides.

Plus the upcoming MP shockwave doesnt seem all that complex at all, just a reimagining of his G1 toy with no partsforming

Yes. If i am uncertain of liking it, then price is a huge issue. I was unsure of buying AOE lockdown, but I got him for 10$. He wasnt great, but no worries, its 10 bucks. With shipping and dutie fees, this guy would come out to about 80$, thats quite the gamble. I will wait to see what everyone thinks. Then if he drops to 3500 yen and I do like him, I will buy him. Just like I did with Roadrage.

My thoughts exactly. Plus,worse case scenario,he turns out to be one of the best MPs ever and is sold out everywhere, the fact that he is unlicensed means he is one of the most sure toys that Hasbro would bring over. So worst case scenario, we just wait for the Hasbro version (and then wait for a sale haha).

That being said, that's already a strike down for wanting the product. Why continue with this slog in the first place then if y'all ain't gonna touch him with a 10 foot pole?

You are not getting it. The whole point is that people who are on the fence will need to read a lot of other people's opinions inorder to make sure this toy is right for them or not. For instance, I read that Tracks wasnt that great, bt I should have read even more since nothign prepared me for my dissapointment in that mold. It doesnt even have a place to rest the head in robot mode!

So I would like for people to get Hot Rod in hand, share their opinions and I can then figure out better if this toy is worth it or not, since I cant form that opinion based on the pics.

I can tell you right now Will, my opinion will be biased. I'm gonna love him. Nothing I've seen in any of the videos has been a deal-breaker for me, and I still love MP Rodimus Prime even though mine let me down.
