It would be great if they actually made a real "movie" instead of just 3 or 4 episodes sewn together and labeled as a movie package.
Throw some real money at it and amp up the animation to feature quality and have an epic storyline and script.
That would be nice. If they are gonna end this series prematurely (IMO) than do it with some style.

It's an awesome show, but with it being cancelled so quickly I can understand why many wouldn't have seen it. There wasn't enough time to explore all the story options. Firefly is hardly a status show. The people who like it do so rabidly, despite the fact that Joss Whedon (creator) is an admitted plagiarist.
My problem is Firefly borrowed TOO much from current anime, not something from Shakespeare or equivalent. Plagiarism is often defined as "borrowing" by Firefly fans, or "everything copies something else". Anyway, Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop were better programs despite having the unfortunate pedigrees of being neither American nor live-action - apparently, that makes Firefly, by default, both better and NOT guilty of plagiarism.
Seriously though, all that aside, the show is amazingly generic and over-hyped. You'd think it was the second coming of Christ, but man do these fans exaggerate that show...
"Serenity" (the Firefly movie), IMO (and as an example), is a confused mess of genres. Have you ever played Halo and tried to summarize the tone of that game? Very similar situation.
