When I first looked at Iron Man, I was like oh.. okay.. the Batman of Marvel?

But then I played as him in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and I kind of started to like the character. Wiki-Pedia didn't do a great job, so can anyone fill me on the History of Iron-man.

A quick run-down, since I'm sure someone will beat me to this:

Tony Stark, Billionaire industrialist playboy, is kidnapped by terrorists. Forced to build a weapons systems (Varies from version to version) he instead builds a suit of powered armor, and beats the ever-loving **** out of them.

During the scuffle were he was kidnapped, shrapnel was lodged in his heart, and he has to use a magnetic device to keep himself from being dead. He also has to recharge every so often.

After returning home to the US, he sets to work on building increasingly better suits of armor. He was also a member of the Avengers, along with Captain America, Spider-Man, and Thor.

Because of the shrapnel, he often uses alcohol to ease his pain, and suffers from extreme alcoholism, one of his defining character traits.

That's about it, really.

Here's what you need to know about Iron Man (and about what all I know aside from what Shadowman said )


IRON MAN = AWESOME

He, well, has loads of different armors.....

Oh, and he sorta intensified the Marvel Civil War.

AND he's gotta deal with the Skrull secret invasion now.....

He met a downed pilot as he was escaping his capture, who became his frriend and took over as Iron-Man both when he was severely alchoholic and when he died. This friend later became Warmachine using a heavier armed and armoured version of the Iron Man suit.

Well lets see. I was born at Elyria Memorial Hospital in the year of..... Oh, nevermind.

He's the douche that talked Spider-Man into wearing a ugly ass suit and to reveal his identity to the WORLD.

Don't forget how the Super Hero Civl War was all his fault, and he got Captain America and Goliath killed. Yes I directly blame him for both. Also I think he's either been manipulated by Skrulls or he himself is a Skrull. Personally I don't think Tony is going to be the real hero of the Secret Invasion. I think Nick Fury is going to be the hero of the Secret Invasion. Why else would Nick be in hiding? Why would other people actively want to know his location?

The main villain in this movie is going to be the Iron Monger, who first made his debut in the Armor Wars storyline. Which was another example of how Tony was a giant douchebag to people. More or less Iron Monger was a business man who hired two Spy type super villains to steal Tony's armor designs. He sold a fair amount to throw people off his tracks and then boiled a lot down into one armor. I'm sure a bunch will be changed for the movie but that's the gist of what you're getting into.

Personally I hope Tony's still a womanising, drunken prick. It was part of his charm. And for awhile he skirted being a cool type of prick. To me he was always only a step or two away from being a Super Villain himself.

secret invasion hasn't been released yet over here.

Tony will be a womaniser in the movie, but they are going to keep the alcohol for later movies, so I've been told.

Personaly I would love to see Carnage or Venom get there fingers on Ironman, that would be so much fun!

They wouldn't really be able to do much to him. The heat and sound from his repulsor rays at point blank range would pretty much kill a symbiote.

First he has to know they are after him, then he has to cope with Venom just hating to get hurt and ignoring the pain, if any Symbiote could be able to kill Ironman it would be Venom, with a swift move to remove his head.
But he might die afterwards due to the defensive **** of the armor, but it would make him a hero.

If Doctor Doom couldn't do it, neither could Venom.

Tony has plenty of ties to the US Government. If Venom killed him and survived, the US Army would be all over him, and I'm sure Spider-Man would be willing to divulge a few secrets about Venom's weaknesses.

In any case, Marvel heroes don't applaud villains for killing heroes, even if the hero in question was a dick.

No it would make him a hero in MY view! But he already is.

True about the radar, I forgot that possibility.

Oh yeah, he has a cousin Arno (Iron Man 2020) who was also a prick. (guess it runs in the family.) He decapitated Death's Head, who still contolled his body to beat the hell out of him anyway. Oh, and he couldn't save his city from being blown up. So yeah, Iron man may be awesome, but Iron Man 2020 sucked.

Don't forget he has the Extremis virus in his system, giving him strength healing and the power to talk to machines, not to mention, he can store his inner armor layer in his skin.


Also, he's only a dick because writers didn't know how to write his character properly during Civil War, Mark Millar went on record saying he did his best to make his Captain America look like the crazy one.

Oh okay. Well the vibes I am still getting is that he's the Batman of Marvel, just with a lot more intangibles.

I must say though, his movie action figure line-up is kick ass.

Naw. Iron Man isn't the Batman of Marvel. Captain America is. Well to be more accurate Moon Knight is the Batman of Marvel. But Moon Knight is awesome. Iron Man doesn't have a DC equalevent that isn't a rip off of him. But if we were going to use a DC character as one Steel is DC's Iron Man.
