I don't see anything all that 'neo' about it, just a bit of added detail. If you wanna talk 'neo', take a look at every figure revealed by MMC for their set so far. Each is a MASSIVE departure from their G1 counterparts, be they the toys or the cartoon incarnations.

I do agree that I'd like to see TFC do a different combiner first though. Ever since they teased the Technobots and Terrorcons long ago, I've been dreaming of owning them, so hopefully they'll get started on those sets soon, particularly since I'm not impressed at all with what I've seen for Maketoys' plans for Computron/the Technobots thus far.

Apparently IDW's version of Razorclaw has similar facial markings. If that makes a difference.

Ironically, the smooth faceplate on Predaking is NOT G1 accurate either! But people seem to realty like it.

TFC typically deviates from source when it comes to heads and such. It's to be expected, I guess. But at least Razorclaw has a faceplate, so it could have been worse.

As with Herc's Heavy Labor, so too with Ares' Nemean. From the pictures of MMC's Razorclaw equivalent, it looks to be the same the-butt-is-the-gestalt's-codpiece design... so it goes.

I love my Herc, but the plastic quality (especially how quickly the ratchet joints wear down) always annoyed me. It's one of the reasons I never got Uranos... not too mention his weird proportions and derpy look (IMHO). I'll reserve judgment on Ares until we see some combined pics.

For now, I'm sticking with MMC.

Decisions... TFC need to pump out some more proto shots in the next month or so to keep my attention but so far so good. I'm liking it.

Hmmm Another one? really? got to say those shoulder guns looks as off as the did in the silhouette and i totally get the TFC basic body just remolded thing and while this is basic looking that's because MMCs are superbly designed and highly detailed and just glorious looking characters and with a brand new combiner aesthetic which i think is needed as TFC seem to be trying to get all these combiners out and i for one don't wan't the same aesthetic i want some variation in my collection even if it's not "neo", but i'm positive this will come out looking awesome.
Iv'e got to say i'm a little concerned about MMC PK legs not looking as slim as they did i know they changed designs but he does look like a bit of a chunk now and the waist plate looks **** but the cons alone are enough for me to still be fully on board and buy the other three.

They need to get some better size comparison images and a price for Not-Razorclaw out really soon. If Ares is taller that Uranos then these guys are the frontrunners for my money, but only if they get those images (and a price) out before the first Feral Rex figure arrives! Once it is paid for and cannot be cancelled then Ares is going to be ignored

I'm already ignoring it. I don't have money for two Predakings and I'm committed to MMC. besides, with this one there'll probably be some sort of add-on kit later down the line. :p

Not to mention the plastic quality will likely be weaker than MMC... thought Feral Rex's thick legs are starting to bug me. Regardless, MMC's got my money at this point.

Speaking of plastic quality, will someone tell me whether they feel like Uranos' plastic is better than Hercules'? This probably belongs in a general TFC thread, but I wonder if Ares will see the same 'meh' and wear-downable (sorry, don't have a better word...) plastic as Hercules seems to have.

Well theyre not bad, but Im committed to MMC for Predaking. This might be a better option for hose who want something that looks a little more Hasbroish. But I still love me some TFC. Keep them combiners coming !!!

Yes, Uranos has much better plastic than Herc. It's not that soft, waxy feeling stuff used on Herc at all and feels much more solid (though I have had a few QC issues with some their not-Silverbolt, but I don't think that was due to plastic quality, just a misaligned pin I believe during assembly).

Oh well, I'm sold. I'll be getting 2 Predakings, but I suspect I might just cancel MMC's. It looks really good, but the combined mode has been bugging me for the same reason another poster mentioned: the big fat legs. In all likelihood I'll just keep both though, and I LOVE the fact that TFC's has those mean looking hands similar to the UT version, which was really the one thing that I loved about theirs over MMC's and the details on the TFC Preds I've seen so far look amazing.

I quite like the difference as well, it makes him less G1 and more "Neo". They still need to do some comparison shots with their other combiner teams though (I know I keep banging on about that, but I don't want to end up with the Predaking I like less). I really am starting to lean towards TFC now, but they really need to get their act together! I haven't seen enough to cancel my MMC pre-orders yet...

There really are strengths & weaknesses to both predakings IMO.

This is going to be a tough one for me, but I really do prefer to have the choice.
