Did he have any to begin with? I mean, if your resume has such so called classics as "Aliens of London", "World War III" and "Love and Monsters" on it, I wouldn't be surprised to find that you couldn't get work anywhere.

Maybe just get Cornell to cram some of his novels into episodes again, that worked pretty well. I think RTD has some positive things to add to the series, but when he goes all lucas and it becomes an RTD and RTD alone project, it starts getting clumsy. Deus Ex Machina ain't clever I'm afraid. Luckily, getting more Moffat in the upcoming season.

Edit: Paul Cornell once stayed in my house for an entire week. Nice chap! Feet smell though...

What, you want another Tegan?

I really need to watch some older eps of doc who as I have no idea who Tegan is or which doc she followed around.

The one bright side of having Donna back, as some said in those quotes, is we wont have a companion who fancies the doc. At least she will be ballsy back to him. Is that enough to make up for this? I get the feeling I may know the answer.

WOOT! More Moffat eps!

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.

Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Season 3 began here a few hours before it ended in the UK last week.

So I went from season premiere to season finale in about 16 hours.

And now, to resume the festivities, TARDIS!

Some or all of this has probably been theorised before but I've been having a think about the ending to season one of Torchwood. We heard the TARDIS sound effect and saw a hand, leading everyone to assume that it was the Doctor showing up and Jack heading off with him. We didn't actually see either the TARDIS or the Doctor. For quite a while I was convinced that it was going to be the Master stringing Jack along and that it would play out in season three of Dr Who. We now know that things didn't play out that way and that Jack's entry into season three was handled completely differently.

Now give a moment's consideration to the ending to season three. We see a female hand recovering the Master's ring. Two major possibilities here: 1) That it was Mrs Saxon and the whole shooting him bit was a ruse that was preplanned for when everything hit the fan, or 2) That this was the Rani showing up and that this will be a major thread in season four. Theory two has some holes in it because the Doctor should be able to sense if there were any other Time Lords left but they managed to play it so that he missed the Master's survival. In any case you should never REALLY kill off a great villain so it's a fairly safe assumption that the Master will be back at some stage, although I'm getting off the point.

Now while the Master wasn't in possession of his own TARDIS as far as I'm aware the Rani did still have a fully functioning one when last seen. What do folk's think the possibility is of it having been the Rani's TARDIS that materialised at the end of season one of Torchwood, possibly with it having been a regenerated Master's hand that we saw. Jack's appearance toward the end of season three must be chronologically after season one of Torchwood since the Doctor recovers his severed hand and it's still in Torchwood's possession at the end of season one. From this we can gather that Jack would not yet have encountered the Master, although the Master would have encountered a later version of Jack. Recognition may well be a moot point anyway since whatever variation on the regeneration process is used to bring back the Master this time round is unlikely to end up with him bearing the same face.

This could play out in the early episodes of Torchwood's second season with Jack hoodwinked into believing that the Master was the Doctor and the Rani was another assistant. This would also explain Jack being so fast to jump on the idea of the Doctor not being the last of the Time Lords in 'Utopia'. Despite the Face of Bo revelation and Jack grudgingly admitting to being attached to Torchwood there's still elements that he was being tight lipped about at the end of season three and having seen evidence of other Time Lords he may be attempting to point the Doctor in the right direction without showing his entire hand (early signs of playing the enigmatic immortal game). The only problem that I see with this is that it would reveal the whole Rani storyline ahead of season four of Doctor Who.

I've gone over the relative timeframes to the point that I'm relatively sure of when events that we have seen should happen in relation to each other on a linear timeline, although it's quite possible that there's some element that I've missed. Any thoughts from anyone else?

Why would Torchwood have the Master's hand?

I think there was such a dramatic change between the end of Torchwood and Utopia so Jack working for Torchwood would be a surprise for anyone who didn't watch Torchwood. Either that or someone forgot all about the ending of that ep.

My instory thinking is Jack had audio sensors set up that triggered when it detected the Tardis appearing and played it out loudly so Jack would know it was there, no matter where he was in the building. Probably without the other's knowing. As for the blowing papers, air blasted from Jack's emergancy escape route to the surface to get up there quickly perhaps?

waaaghlord it cant possibly have been the rani's tardis at the end of torchwood, its the doctors hand, its set to go off when the doctor shows up.

also i think your confusing the timeline of it all.

the end of torchwood series 1 leads right up to jacks apperance in s.3 of dr who, now i know there was a tardis noise and a blowing about of letters, but i think this has been a continuity error between the shows.

on a side note i think bringing back more timelords would really suck, having the doctor and the master as the only remaining 2 is such a good idea.

Fair enough, but if things don't get properly retconned to make sense of the ending to TW season 1 it is a pretty huge continuity error as things stand. My meanderings are pretty convoluted, but so is an awful lot of the storyline for both shows, especially when Davis is doing the actual writing. Plus I'm a conspiracy nut.

Guess whose gonna be doing Doctor Who comics?

IDW.

Doctor Who: comics based on the newest iteration of the long-running BBC television show (now airing in the U.S. on the Sci Fi Network), as well as newly colored reprints of classic Doctor Who comics, featuring art by comics industry legend Dave Gibbons, will begin at the end of 2007. The creative team for the new comics will be Gary Russell, a Doctor Who TV show story editor, and artist Nick Roche.

I made a thread in the cartoons and comics forum about the potential return of Deaths Head as he's faced off against both the Doctor and TF's.

No one seemed to care. :-(
