Ahhhhhh the return of The Master. Great.
Funny thing is, I was wondering if he would ever return last week.
A friend of mine thinks that previously The Doctor has lost the Tardis and got it back using some kind of link he has with it.
I don't know about that, the Sonic Screwdriver + Jack's armband seems very possible to me.
My only gripe is that The Master doesn't have a goatee and slicked back hair. It could've been played by Ricky Gervais from The Office. Though John Simm is very cool casting indeed.
I'm sure i remember The Master's Tardis being a pyramid or triangle :-?

I'm not a Dr who buff like you or the other guys so I'll ask the really stupid question …. erm why wouldn't The Master still have his tardis ?

Because he was executed by the Daleks after being found guilty by a massive galaxy tribunal.

Plus, even if the theory that the Time Lords granted him a new body and new regenerations in exchange to fight in the Time War, chances are he would have done something to his Tardis to render it inoperable when he went into hiding.

Unlike The Doctor, if The Master were to hide like that, it would be something drastic, possibly even destroyed it.

Ok, I'm thinking the Master does have his own tardis and it was in plain view for us to see.

http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/9497 ... ammtm8.jpg

So that blue box was shown 18 times in the episode and they showed it at certain times, just when the Dr says "Have you see a big blue box". Don't forget that the Master used to have a tardis with a working chameleon circuit.

Now from the old Dr who series the Masters tardis took a lot of different forms, but one of those forums was …..

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m98/ ... TARDIS.jpg

Now compare the two pictures against each other ….

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m98/ ... arison.jpg

Finally the Professor said he had that watch all his life, it was the only thing found with him. But when the Dr was human a couple of episodes before he thought he had a full normal human life, he had full memories implanted by himself to make sure he convinced himself he was human.

So why couldn't the Master do the same, and like he said he had been moving from refuge camp to refuge camp all his life so he'd take his equipment with him at all times wouldn't he, meaning that big blue box in the background on the first picture.

Jacks time watch would be a poor way of getting them back in time, first off it only took Jack back a few hundred years and it burnt out. Maybe the Dr could fix it but surely it would still only take one person and could it really be that powerful it could teleport him back trillions of years to the exact location of the Master. They don't even know where he's escaped too let alone when, so risking that the watch could take one of them back how could they be sure it wouldn't burn out again and leave the others behind if in fact he chased the Master to the exact time and place.

Why didn't the Master go for his tardis ? well it could be that his memories hadn't fully returned in time to remember he had one. It could be that he'd just been shot and the Dr had broken through the door, he only had seconds to make it into the Dr's tardis. It could also be that he'd think the Dr would be fooled by his tardis and it's working chameleon circuit and by taking the Dr's tardis he'd fool him into thinking he was stranded.

My votes on the Masters tardis for the Dr and co getting back home.

But surely if the Master can lock the Doctor out of his own Tardis then surely the Master's Tardis would be locked up so that only he could get to it.

Three days or so and we'll find out. (Though I do agree that his little computer box there could be a Tardis)

True the Master could have locked it, but he could only have locked it from the outside. The Dr almost managed to unlock the deadbolt on his tardis door when the Master was inside but the Master did something from inside to secure it.

So if he just locked it using a key from the outside the Dr's sonic screwdriver should in theory be able to unlock it like he did with his. But yeah three more days and we find out for sure. Two more days and I get to watch the repeat on Friday night again ….. which will make it the third time because I watched the Sunday repeat last weekend as well

I'd tell you to just record it so you could watch it any time but that would involve unplugging too many things for you. ;;)

Memory's a bit hazy. Didn't The Master do things in the past to render his Tardis inoperable? Like removing the dematerialisation circuit?

Disabled his what ?? ... Yeah you lost me now I have no idea.

I don't actually have a video recorder anymore so I can't tape it. I've run out of space in the tv unit after cramming in my 360, ps2, dvd player, skybox and the surround sound system. I have one space left but I'm buying a dvd recorder next pay ... and possible a nice new 28" widescreen plasma. That's if the g/f doesn't hide my credit cards again

As a friend I strongly suggest you use scissors on the credit card.

Becuase then you'll save lots of money and be able to buy Dr Who dvd's and learn all about The Master's old tricks. :P

The master's Tardis is probably going to show up since we see parts of a black Tardis interior during various interviews.

Either that or he redecorated the Doc's Tardis.

Well i've just watched the episode and i really don't know what to say or think. I don't think this week was as good, it seemed to be a bit of an anticlimax from the cliffhanger that was last week.

The Masters plot was is not as grand as i had hoped and i'm not sure with the way they have introduced a new alien into the story at this stage that it's actually working. I don't know maybe i was expecting something more after last week.

I was expecting a WOW !! after waiting for this episode, instead all i got was a meh it was ok. The highlights would have to be the conversation between the Dr and the Master. You could see there was a connection between the two of them and you got to know and see some things about the time wars, the Master and their home planet.

But maybe next week will kick start the drama, the Dr and friends are in an almost impossible situation so it'll be interesting to see how the hell they get out of this one.

But for everyone who said the Daleks had been over used in the past, this ending to this series is not as huge and exciting in my opinion. It's good, but just shy of being great.

it felt like most of the escape from the end was cut and had to be retold in a 10 sec clip  . also, i liked the brothers reference

I was pretty blown away by it all.

I loved the Gallifrey scenes, an insight into the mind of The Master.

Nice that The Doctor acknowledged him as an old friend, as they both went to the Academy together (The Rani was also in that class, in fact it was that whole class that essentially became a bunch of Time Lord renegades)

I'm not sure about this particular incarnation of The Master. Evil yes, but possibly a little too happy in his evil. Old series Master was more cold and calculating, sure he revelled in his plans but not to this extent.

Could argue that this is a new younger Master if he was "resurrected" by the Time Lords, as opposed to the old Master who was ... well, old.

Now what's to bet that Mrs Saxon is actually a Tardis ...

I thought that the aging was a bit rubbish, 100 years is nothing to a Timelord (seeing how Doc 1 was over 700 before he regenerated into doc 2).

So any speculation on the Tocaflane?

I think that the following happend:

The Timelords saw the end comming and they devised a plan to ensure the survival of their people. But the solution was very unethical and difficult, so they needed a powerful Timelord that wasn't bothered by ethics.

And they chose the Master, but they needed to ensure that he'd follow the general plan, so they mentally programmed him with the "drumms". Afterwards the Daleks attacked and the Master took a hike (or maybe the Timelords sent him away and altered his memories).

The Tocaflane are supposedly a new generation of Timelords (maybe they are embryos?). They reastablish the Timelord society on Earth while the Master guards over them. I guess that they need all humans on Earth gone to bring their plan to fruition, or maybe they steal their bodies to gain humanoid form again (the Master has done it before, he could teach them how to do it).

Nah, I think the Tocaflane are either cannibalized sections of the Tardis, survivors from the end of time, or some combination thereof.

Remember, the Master said when the Doctor finds out who the Tocflane are, it'll break his hearts.

Also, the Master created the Utopia beacon that everyone is following, rewatch the very end of the previous episode to catch the innuendo.

I love how 'Tish' has been brought in to explain Freema Agyeman's earlier appearance working at Torchwood.
I too dont see why The Doctor is so badly affected by ageing 100 years.

Probably because he's half human and ages like a normal human does but his Time Lord DNA keeps him alive.

Of course you never know what else The Master added to his "laser" screwdriver. oh I was so hoping for him to pull out his old tissue compression thing-a-ma-jig.

But if we go by that logic, he should have been killed in "The Leisure Hive."
