When the Doctor became old, the first thing that came to my mind was the old version of Biff from Back To The Future.

Motto: "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings to randomly click things in the Admin Panel to see what it breaks."
My first thought was "now would be a great time to bring in Tom Baker!"

Something I find a bit confusing.

When Jack confesses to the Doctor about working for Torchwood, he says he rebuilt Torchwood after the Battle for Canary Warf.

Yet in the Torchwood premiere, Jack tells Gwen that they are Torchwood 3. Torchwood 1 being Canary Warf, Torchwood 2 being one guy in a pokey office, and Torchwood 4 being lost.

Now the way he told things to the Doctor he made it sound like his Torchwood was the only one and that there were only 6 of them.

And given that Torchwood was established over a hundred years ago, I find it hard to believe that their entire organisation wouldn't be in one tower, but rather split up into groups across the country.

So how is Torchwood organised and just who the hell is running it now?

That was a great ep. Loved everything about it.

I was thinking the spheres are the disembodied Time Lords, corrupted through some twisated scheme of the Master.

Torchwood. Perhaps Jack was in Torchwood 4, and after the Battle, he took overall command of the organisation, but reset the headquaters to Cardiff so he could stay there.

There does seem to be a littel continuity errors between this and Torchwood. Luckily, they can be fixed with a little creativity.

I realised something today. Remember when Torchwood fairy ep was shown and we were thinking Jack couldn't be in love with that woman like he claimed because when she left London and moved to Cardiff, he went off with Rose. That Jack who went off probably hadn't even met the woman. There were two Jack in WW2. Ok, technically 3, but that other guy is unimportant here.

After he was ressurected and time jumped to 18whatever, he moved to Cardiff and it was probably while waiting there for the doc to show up again was when he met her after she had moved out of London. Which makes Jack not a lying nonloving guy we thought he was at the time.

This is probably obvious to everyone, but I thought I would mention it.

Also, while waiting for the comp to load, I was listening to the 1996 dc who theme, and I found myself tapping along to the beat of the backing drums. It was the exact same thing Saxon was tapping. Damn time Lord got inside my head as well.

Ok Spoilers .. so for you guys like Burn not in the UK then don't read it :D

That last episode made up for last week, finally finding out who those creatures were. I kinda figured they were the people shipped off to Utopia but to see the heads lodged inside the spheres was weird, one last ditch attempt to carry on living regards of the damage.

The Master played his part well, i'll give him credit for that. The part where the Dr fed off the physic energy was a bit corny, it was kind of like a regeneration in a way. I always knew they had to turn back the clocks some how. The best part was the last 10 minutes where the Dr and the Master finally connected. The part where the Master was in the Dr's arms refusing to regenerate just to spite the Dr was brilliant. The Dr always wins but just this once the Master finally got one over on him, he made him the last time lord, all on his own ...... or did he ? ... nah good old BBC dropped a bit in at the end to throw a bit of a twist for the future

And to top it all off the part i wasn't expecting, Martha leaving the Dr. Seemed harsh, he'd just lost the Master and was finally the last of his kind and she leaves him. She'll be back.

Only problem is now can i wait until Christmas for the Christmas special.

Oh, um SPOILERS

OptimusPrive wrote:Nah, I think the Tocaflane are either cannibalized sections of the Tardis, survivors from the end of time, or some combination thereof.

Remember, the Master said when the Doctor finds out who the Tocflane are, it'll break his hearts.

Also, the Master created the Utopia beacon that everyone is following, rewatch the very end of the previous episode to catch the innuendo.

Nailed it. Survivors from the end of time with the Tardis keeping off the 'dox.

This series of Doctor Who should be renamed Doctor Who: The End. If it wasn't for that feminine hand plucking out that Time Lordy ring, I'd be certain they were reanimating the best parts of Doctor Who just to kill them. Somebody very wise once said "Never kill your best villains. Bring them back with chewing gum and duct tape if you must, but keep them coming back."

I'm figuring the ring is a watchy thingamajig so they can bring the Master back later in any way they want.

So... here's my query, any assistants lined up for next year? How long is this guy playing the Doctor signed up for?

Don't worry, i'm only a few hours behind in downloads so I avoid this thread until i've watched it.

The Master played his part well, i'll give him credit for that.

He did. Though i'd still prefer the Ainley/Delgado styled Master.

The part where the Dr fed off the physic energy was a bit corny, it was kind of like a regeneration in a way. I always knew they had to turn back the clocks some how.

ugh. That was bloody awful and capped off a spectacular anti-climatic ending to what was going to be a great three-parter.

The best part was the last 10 minutes where the Dr and the Master finally connected. The part where the Master was in the Dr's arms refusing to regenerate just to spite the Dr was brilliant. The Dr always wins but just this once the Master finally got one over on him, he made him the last time lord, all on his own ...... or did he ? ...

We've always known they were close. The only reason I didn't cry was because of the anti-climatic fix-em-up bobs-your-uncle crap just before it. Still, always good to see the pain of being the last of his kind from the Doctor.

nah good old BBC dropped a bit in at the end to throw a bit of a twist for the future

Rani perhaps? Or maybe they'll throw a curve ball and it'll be Romana?

Or they just won't make anything from it and it'll be another let down like this episode was.

Oh and to top it all off, the Face of Boe, my favourite character from this new series, the enigmatic Face of Boe, the mysterious Face of Boe that I wanted to learn more about, is Jack bloody Harkness???? ARGH! Thanks for destroying that character for me.

Did I mention I don't particulary like Jack bloody Harkness?

And to top it all off the part i wasn't expecting, Martha leaving the Dr. Seemed harsh, he'd just lost the Master and was finally the last of his kind and she leaves him. She'll be back.

Look at what she went through. An entire year travelling the world seeing humanity wiped out. All of which could be traced back to The Doctor.

Current rumours suggest though that Martha will be back next year but not as often, plans are for another person to join the Tardis crew so he'll have two assistants at times.

And of course the ending setting up the christmas special. "What? What? WHAT???" Worked last year, guess they can't go past it again. :P

I found it interesting that in season 1 (new series), the Tardis survived a few missile hits from the Daleks, but it seems it cannot withstand the bow of a boat. Weird.

Also, I'm wondering at which point in his long life, that Jack realized that he was no longer the handsome devil he is and became more enigmatic, though I do understand how the swelled head came along. Besides, I like Jack. He's usually so upbeat and cheerful, even when things aren't going his way.

God that was such an awful series finale, after the brilliant Sound of Drums episode, they go and do that!
In my opinion, they ruined two decent characters, The Face of Boe and Captain Jack and they killed off John Simm, so The Master survived, it'll be a different actor next time, who could never beat the performances John Simm gave.
And, to top it all off, att the end of the next series (if you believe the papers) David Tennant and Russel T Davies are leaving!
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm glad that Martha isn't going to be in it much anymore, the character was so boring! Martha had hardly any background at all, which was one of the reasons Rose was so good.
Oh well, my rant is over, I'm going to go watch Series 1 and 2 on DVD now and think about how much better series three could have beeen...

I need to check OPG and see if they mention who his next companion will be next year.

I wonder if the Sci Fi channel will butcher the episodes for this season as badly as they did for last season.
Not a sheeple.

Agreed, except for Simm's Master. Too much Joker, and not enough Master.

Russel T Davies should really stop writing Who stories. Steven Moffat's Blink was the best episode of the season, if not one of the best Who episodes ever. The Girl if the Fireplace was brilliant too. He should be in charge of the majority of the stories next season.

Too bad he won't. :(

Compared to the season 2 finale this was corny crap.
An anti climatic end to what was otherwise a bloody season.

My money would be on Mrs Saxon. I'm still half expecting her to be a well disguised Tardis. Didn't she say that the Master had taken her to the end of the universe? Doesn't mean it had to be in the Doc's Tardis.
If I'm correct the shooting/death was all a cunning plan to escape being the Doctor's prisoner. What better way to escape then to fake your own death? At least this way the Doctor won't be chasing him around time and space, letting him cook up another dastardly plan.

While I found this new Master to be jolly good fun, I think Keith Allen would make a great Master if he has a new body the next time we see him.

Yeah, I wasnt masivly impressed by that final ep. On the bright side, MARTHA'S GONE! I cant beleive they managed ot create a charecter MORE annoying than Rose and her assorted family... grrr.

And the Face of Bo... For F**K's sake WHY?!?

WHY make it Jack?!?

WHY DAMNIT!

I like Jack's charecter, always have, but I was hoping that someday, he would finally get to die (as Jack, not the Face of Bo).

Jack can't be the face of Boe. the F.O.B. died. Jack can't die. It has been expressely stated he's immortal.

I loved that ep. Yeah, the rejuvination thingy was really crap, but at least it didn't end up killing the Master off it. Otherwise, I thought it was a good, solid ep that was no where near as corny as Parting of the Ways ending. And I was genuinly surprised that the Toclofane were the humans from 100 Trillion.

I agree though that RTD should not write the series finales. He is great at setting them up, giving them plenty of OMPH! throughout, but he has trouble finishing them in a decent way. Bring in Stephen Mofat for most of the next one.

If I'm correct the shooting/death was all a cunning plan to escape being the Doctor's prisoner. What better way to escape then to fake your own death? At least this way the Doctor won't be chasing him around time and space, letting him cook up another dastardly plan.

I never thought of that. It would be a good plan. And that certainly looked like Mrs Saxon's hand picking up the ring.

I found it interesting that in season 1 (new series), the Tardis survived a few missile hits from the Daleks, but it seems it cannot withstand the bow of a boat. Weird.

It used that surfboard thingy from the Slitheen woman a few eps before to ride the blast waves.

I was really hoping for Simm to continue as the Master. He was brilliant. As he refused to regenerate, and if the Master has indeed survived, perhaps he will return.
