I read somewhere that they appeared briefly in the second movie. Did anyone notice them and if so, could they tell me where they appeared.

yes at the end when shia and megan are in the house hiding from starscream in egypt and he picks one out of the whole and pulls his head out and then starscream comes in and rips off the roof

Really? I never expected them to be as small as that. In the cartoon movie from the 80's, the insecticons are the same size as most of the other transformers.

yeaa but i guess in the film they needed them to be more of a real life thing i guess even tho giant robots fighting on earth isnt real life. but i rather see the insecticons portrayed as acctual insects made for better infiltration or spying.

I read somewhere that the razor thing made from the ball-bearing bot's Ravage puked up was supposed to be an insecticon too

In the original G1 comic the insecticons were actually insect size then transformed to full size formers.

I'm sure M Bay had no idea about that thought and just made robot insects thinking it was his own new idea.

Actually, he's said before that he'd come up with a vague idea for something he wanted in the film, then asked Hasbro if they had anything to fill that role.
