Rial Vestro wrote:G1 Ultra Magnus was credited as just being called "Magnus" without his armor
Rial Vestro wrote:Not entirely true. Technically the original character's name was Magnus. Ultra was used to describe him being in battle armor
Rial Vestro wrote:No, the character's name was originally MAGNUS!

He does this all the time; he'll start an argument, use poor logic, and never, ever admit being wrong, even if he is.
Shadowman wrote:And yet, somehow, none of that argument means anything; Magnus is the rank, his name is Ultra, and continuing this inane argument won't change that.

I dont know why but this made my day.
Rial Vestro wrote: I have however said that Animated is BASED on G1
I have a problem with this statement.
It can be said that every TF show is based on G1...but I dont think that TFA is any more baseed on G1 then any of the other shows.
I just feel it has more homages and fan nods then some of the others.

I'm confused. What was your problem with that statement, it looks to me like you're agreeing with it?

I know this is a little out of character for me but it actully came from his toy and probly the comics. I have the reissue G1 Ultra Magnus and the cab by itself was refered to as "Magnus" in the instructions.
Rial Vestro wrote: I belive allthough he never appeared without his armor in the Cartoon he has appeared as just the white Optimus Prime in the comics and was simply called Magnus.

Normally I stick to the cartoons but Ultra Magnus, the Ultra part does kinda sound like an upgrade.
Rial Vestro wrote:
BTW When Animated Ultra Magnus first used his hammer on Earth Bumblebee stated "So that's why they call him ULTRA Magnus" indicating that Ultra was simply a refrence to his power but then again, Bumblebee was being sarcastic so it probly doesn't mean anything.

Shadowman wrote:
He means that ALL series are based on G1, Animated just has a few more cameos. So when you said "Animated is based on G1," it was sort of pointless; so is Beast Wars, Beast Machines, RID, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, and the movies.

PLus the reissue came after that Dreamwave issue as Hasbro and Takara noticed that "Sh*t we can make repaints!". That's why the reissue instructions call the cab magnus.sto_vo_kor_2000 wrote:Rial Vestro wrote:

Your right...useing toy info is out of character fr you.And BTW...toy instructions have never been considered canon in any of the TF medias.Rial Vestro wrote: I belive allthough he never appeared without his armor in the Cartoon he has appeared as just the white Optimus Prime in the comics and was simply called Magnus.
Your not entirely correct.
He never appeared in the cartoon with out his armor nor did he ever appear in the original G1 comics with out his armor.
In the 90's retro buzz, a comic company named Dreamwave got the rights to do TF comics. They had 1 issue in which UM appeared with out armor....but he was still refered to as Ultra Magnus.Rial Vestro wrote:

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.
