It can be said that every TF show is based on G1...but I dont think that TFA is any more baseed on G1 then any of the other shows.

I just feel it has more homages and fan nods then some of the others.

EDIT: Adding my 2 cents to this argument -- and it's really only worth 2 cents:

I don't know if TF Animated is "based" on G1, but I do feel it's very heavily inspired by G1, more so than the other TF cartoons. Beast Wars had beasts/animals, no planes and cars. Beast Machines was a continuation of Beast Wars. RiD was like taking Beast Wars and mixing it with G1. TF Armada was about the minicons... although the last part of it was very inspired by G1 with the Unicron Battles. Energon was all about finding energon and superlinking all the time. You'd think the energon part would be super inspired by G1, but I think it took it way further than G1... to the point where it felt "new". TF Cybertron was all into those Cyber Keys and Cyber Planet Keys and stopping the black hole.

Then you have TF: Animated. TFs crash on earth... years later "awaken" (very similar to G1). Megatron's color scheme and earth robot mode looks more inspired by G1 than other cartoon incarnations of him. Bumblebee & Ratchet & Blitzwing & Shockwave (who stays on Cybertron like G1) are main characters again after many cartoons not having them (yes Energon had Shockblast) and then later Jazz and Ultra Magnus. Then there's Wreck Gar, Cliffjumper, wIronhide, the Starscream Clones (when was the last time we saw multiple decepticons that all resembled Starscream -- can you say G1?) There are no gimics like the Unicron series. Aside from Black Aracnia and Waspinator, we have cars and planes that look more real like than the unicron trilogy's did -- again like G1 did it. Cyclonus looking G1-ish, Alpha Trion, Arcee, Blurr, Constructicons... Yes, Jetfire doesn't look G1-ish and neither does Prowl... the exceptions

Although I feel Animated is heavily inspired by G1, it also has a side dish of TF live-action movie flavor (AllSpark, Cybertron Megatron, Blackout) and a little Beast Wars thrown in too.

I say ALL this just to point out that I don't think Saber Prime, a.k.a. Rial Vestro, is crazy for thinking Animated is based off of G1. I'd rather say "heavily inspired", but whatever. I also like shadownman's latin word reasoning though. And I for one think Sentinel Magnus sounds ever so slightly better than Ultra Sentinel. However "Ultra" sounds dumb on it's own as a name... unlike Magnus -- just my opinion.

In conclusion... although Saber Prime / Rial Vestro can drive me nutty... he has some valid points with "Ultra" sounding dumb and Magnus sounding better -- and in G1 and Animated not hearing anybody calling Ultra Magnus just "Ultra" but sometimes yes to "Magnus".

I do not claim to be an expert on whether the "Ultra" part in G1 was for the armor -- I'm not even going to go there in this argument.

I know this is a little out of character for me but it actully came from his toy and probly the comics. I have the reissue G1 Ultra Magnus and the cab by itself was refered to as "Magnus" in the instructions. That Transformers Icon of the Day which hasn't had a new icon in months allso lists him as Magnus. I belive allthough he never appeared without his armor in the Cartoon he has appeared as just the white Optimus Prime in the comics and was simply called Magnus.

Normally I stick to the cartoons but Ultra Magnus, the Ultra part does kinda sound like an upgrade.

BTW When Animated Ultra Magnus first used his hammer on Earth Bumblebee stated "So that's why they call him ULTRA Magnus" indicating that Ultra was simply a refrence to his power but then again, Bumblebee was being sarcastic so it probly doesn't mean anything.

Okay, just watched This is Why I hate Machines, and loved it. This series CANNOT end after this season! Is there an official petition to support it even though it is allegedly unofficially cancelled?

Nice a Transformers episode that takes place entirely on Cybertron which means lots and LOTS of cameos.

Tracks made another appearance and actully spoke, I love Tracks but never liked his voice and it just got worse but at least he didn't talk too much.

Allso saw Fire Star with a rather large white robot. Not sure who he was.

And Rattrap looking alot like his Botcon Pre-Earth incarnation.

There was allso another Bumblebee look alike in there but was only seen from the back, his mold gets reused ALOT on this show as well as Ratchet's Cybertron mode.

BTW really like Jazz in this episode and good to see he's staying on Earth but would be better if it wasn't so late in the season. I think there's only 2 episodes left.

Anyone know who the other bots were on Cybertron?

Oh and they confirmed that was Fortress Maximus even though we allready knew that. He looks exactly like G1 and RID Fortress Maximus. (How is it that he's made appearances on 3 different cartoons and they've never updated his look other than giveing him a different color scheme?)

WOW!!!!!!!!! the three biggest autobot's in the same series at the same time I can't get over the fact that we metroplex, omega supreme and fortress maximus. The only thing I can say is I hope we get to see both metroplex and fortress maximus transform before the end of the season.

Great episode! Ratchet trying to desiphir Bulkheads writting lol! No sari this time around she wasn't needed. Fanzone got a free trip to Cybertron! Anyone know who that femme was with Grandus? Good to see Shockwave in his "true colors!" all be it at the end of the episode you can just see Lugnut shaking in anger. So Megatron and his motley crew no longer Transwarp around randomly(thats bad right?). Good news is Omega is more than likely in Stasis mode!

We asked for it and now we got it! Jazz stationed himself on Earth! I hope the information broker was Pakrat and not Rattrap because that would seriously ruin his character for me it was funny though. Arcee is online I repeat online! It seems Alpha Trion and Perceptor wheren't disturbed or disgusted by Fanzone in the least I wonder why

Yes that is correct only 2 episodes remain before animated will eventually be ending.

Also the episode Endgame was used either in Beast Wars or Beast Machines I forget which.

Also is served as a ending for that show. Also another reminder Endgame was in Bablyon 5 but it didnt end that show it was just the end of the Clark Civil War. Also it was used in Star Trek Voyager and also in Battle Star Galatica and a few other TV shows I know of.


So Animated will be ending with Endgame prt. 2 on May 23rd like I have been saying.

I cant wait to see how animated will be ending hard to believe animated is already almost over.

They showed every episode without it flipping over my only thoughts they either have something planned for another TF-Franchise this winter or Q1 2010 or sometime soon.

I think theyre cancelling Animated because they want to sell ROTF toys. Yup, its because of the toyline. Hasbro is killing the greatest Transformer cartoon since Beast Wars to make place for the ROTF toyline.

The big white autobot that was going to step on Fanzone was GRANDUS. He was shown to us by Derrick Wyatt on the April Fools blog post with a pic of characters that would be seen and some not seen. We had to guess.

I didn't think this episode had Rattrap. I thought it was based off of Scuzzoid from Season 3 of G1's cartoon: seen first in Five Faces of Darkness.

(I could be wrong though... maybe it was supposed to be an Animated Rattrap... I just thought Scuzzoid.)

When is BotCon I cant wait for it so that the future or ending of animated will be clearing up the confusion once and for all.

I never said it would be over with I just stated that Animated season 3 will be finished on May 23rd.

I just said it is a possiblilty not for sure cause right now everything is just rumors floating around on the net.

I was hoping for at least one more final season and then ending with season 4.

I just have a gut feeling that animated will be ending with Endgame for good ultimatly finishing up the series once and for all.

I hope I am wrong and I guess we will find out around Botcon this year.

PLus the reissue came after that Dreamwave issue as Hasbro and Takara noticed that "Sh*t we can make repaints!". That's why the reissue instructions call the cab magnus.
But we shouldn't really use instructions as any kind of cannon, as they sometime contain false information, like the wrong accessories being shown.

Look rather or not animated will or will not end isnt the point right not and is a little early to be discussing its fate or future until season 3 ends this month.

I cant wait to see how Endgame begins and eventually ends or if Sari will be in it or not and what her role will be in it.

Curious as to why the Sumdac Security drones are going nuts all of the sudden and why Sumdac didnt take Fanzone's call when he has saved him and Sari before kinda makes you wonder on that.

Boy was SP a real douche bag in this episode had the nerve to try to get Ultra Magnus's hammer before while he is still online and Ratchet having the guts to take it back to Earth with him to eventually give it back to him.

I think SP is up to something the way he has been acting lately and is hostility toward the Autobot Council maybe he is planning on betraying them in some way.

I still dont trust Jazz all the way and I think he might be up to something also but I guess we wont know until Engame airs this upcoming saturday.

I hope Sari's origins is better explain in Endgame as to who send her to Earth and what her original purpose was.

We got some glimpse in the Yokotron episode that she could beeb in one of the Statis Protochambers they were gaurding.

Also Lockdown seems to be involved in this someway Megatron must have found out through Shockwave that these were weapons on the same Level as Omega Supreme to be used as a last line of defense incase Project Omega failed.

I cant wait to see what they do with Arcee and see how they obstract the codes from here and reboot Omega.

So I am guessing the final battle will be on Earth cause Megatron jumped Omega behind the Dark Side of the Moon at the end of the Credits.

Man I cant wait it is hard to believe season 3 is fixing to end already.

All new episodes and not one single re-peater so I was rigt after all Animated Season 3 will end on May 23rd if things remain on track.

It's interesting how, in this series, Metroplex and Fortress Maximus are the names of actual buildings rather than giant bots who become buildings. Metroplex is the name of the Council's HQ and Fort Max is the name of the Elite Guard's battle station.

I do not like TFA Grandus. This one is big, stupid, and cowardly towards organics. G1 Grandus is NOTHING like that. He was a capable warrior and one of the most elite soldiers of his time. This Grandus is just a sad knockoff.

Bumblebee wasn't a loud-mouth smart-ass, Ratchet wasn't a grumpy war vet, Prowl wasn't a Ninja, Blitzwing wasn't a schizophrenic German, and Scrapper and Mix Master weren't stereotypical construction workers based off of Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci. You can't criticize a character because they don't resemble whoever they're based off of.

Actually I remember locking a topic you started stating precisely that Animated will end after season 3, citing a certain email.

Anyways, I quite enjoyed this episode, actually I've enjoyed the entire season so far. I really hope that it'll continue, maybe take a year-long hiatus to allow the movie its time in the sun, then come back with more energonny goodness.
