If you fell asleep, that's reasonable, but all first shows, or 1st chapters, etc, are slow and introducing characters, you should give it another shot. If you missed the last part, you missed how awsome crazy evil badass Starscream is.
Remember it's not the G1 in the 80's, it's totually remake with horrid animated style, but the story and the characters are really good, even if I miss Peter Cullen take on Prime.

To each their own, I suppose... I personally found it less cheesy/eye-rolling than some of the TF stuff we've gotten in the past. (I love the original series, but it *is* cheesy.) The Mary Sue Allspark Key powers are the only thing I could make a major gripe about. (I even like Sari herself once you factor the Key out of the equation, which is saying a lot since usually TF little kids are completely irritating.)
And I agree with NightFall... if you missed the last 20 minutes, you missed one awesome battle. Starscream could always talk the talk, but now he can walk the walk, too. Listening to him chewing the scenery with trash-talking and villainous monologuing, while proving he can back it up by simultaneously blasting the hell out of Detroit and the Autobots was both incredibly entertaining and suspenseful at the same time.

Quite a few people pulling that off around here, wonder if you'd mouth off like that in front of someone who said they liked it?
It's an amazing show, we are lucky we got antoher series since Beast Wars where it actually looks like they care what is being made and put out there. I get this vibe from watching it that..
A) Hasbro wants lots of money, so they worked their butts off to make something good for a tv series
B) The people writing/directing/drawing/animating/voice acting actually sound like they want to be there too, and that itjust *sounds* like they know what they are doing.
I couldnt stand that ARmada/RID/Whatever stuff because the only voice that really souded like he wanted to be there was Chalk, and that was when he was probably thinking "well, i think i am done for transformers after this"

I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be the Arnold face (the second one). Wasn't that picture just a promo pic anyway. It wasn't from an actual shot of the show.

As a fan of the franchise for over 20 years (or even 20 days) i'm entitled to express my opinion of it. If that opinion is negative then so be it. If I have to sit here and read a hundred people spooging about how great it is then those should have to sit here and read people spooging about how bad it is.
'cause you know, that's how DISCUSSION BOARDS work.
If we don't like it we don't have to watch it? True. If you don't like what you're reading then don't read it either.
So you can either accept that there are some people out there who have a different opinion to yours (and that doesn't make them wrong) or you can simply stick your head in the sand and ignore them.
Jeysie wrote:But I just had to say, I'm a bit... bemused by people who seem to be knocking the show *solely* on the animation style. I don't like it much either, but I consider characterization/dialogue, story/plot, and voice acting much more important, and there I have very little complaint.
That animation style doesn't do the TF's justice. They don't look like robots at all. They are not aesthetically pleasing to my eyes, and THAT is why even if it was the greatest thing written with amazing characterisation (which I highly doubt will happen except for 1 or 2 characters), it will simply be too hard to watch as I can't accept them as Transformers when they simply look like badly drawn generic robots.

Overall, Ill give it a 6 out of 10!
I don't think it is intended to be "G1", if anything it accommodates to older G1 fans with their attempts to use references to it and little bits of homage. You have to remember this show is on Cartoon Network meaning it has to please their audience--being that their audiences are mostly adolescence and pre-teens, making it feel "G1" is not their top priority. I understand where your coming from though, it would be great to revitalize a show as a G1 redo.

Well, admittedly I'm atypical in that visuals are pretty low on my priority totem pole. I won't watch something that's pretty but otherwise mediocre, but I will forgive mediocre visuals if the rest of it is enjoyable.
But even if I did care more about visuals, I'd still find some of the opinions here bewildering. If you don't like the writing/dialogue/etc. then that's fine... but the people who seem to have their complaints all about the look of the series, well, it seems rather shallow. Is eye candy really that important?
And you can't even argue that the animation itself is *sloppy*, either. Like the style or not, IMHO it's still drawn with good consistency.

Transformers were only off the toy shelfs for just over 2 years in the U.S.

The way I see it the fact that they deliberatley used footage from G1 that was largly generic in nature is all the proof needed to say its not part of the original G1 continuity.
Autobot032 wrote:But, if you watch the movie again...Ratchet: "Why do you waste your time with those old history vids?" (meaning that it's content actually took place)

Prime: "But you were there Ratchet, you saw some action! What were the Decepticons really like?" (confirming he was in the original great war, mentioned in the history videos)
Ratchet: "Trust me kid, you're better off not knowing." (confirming Prime's statement)
If what your saying is true then this Prime is a bad history studant.G1 History is full of human involement and information and Animated Prime and the other Autobots had no clue what human life was.
Autobot032 wrote:Based on the dialogue, and the cameos (Ultra Magnus, G1 design Arcee, etc) and the Allspark looks like the Autobot Creation Matrix Of Leadership (orange/gold box with blue light crystal, handles on the sides), etc...
All that really points to is that this universe shares G1 like eliments. To begin with there have been over 5 varitions of the G1 universe's to date.......this would only add to that.[/quote]

Also in dialog was that Ratchet said that the Allspark was sent trew the warp gate many centuries in the past.Althou that didnt say how many the term "all those centuries" [a direct quote] has to be referring to more then 2 centuries
Autobot032 wrote:And before you mention Beast Wars...it takes place 300 years after G1. Animated's universe could easily take place between G1 and the theft of the Golden Disks/launch of the Axalon.
Then how to you explain how the Maximals knew about the human race but the Animated Autobots did not???
Autobot032 wrote:I might be wrong in the end (once official word comes down) but going based on the facts in front of us...if you can't see it as a G1 sequel, then you're missing out on quite a bit.
And your missing all the obvious signs that its not.
Autobot032 wrote:Ratchet's the oldest of them all, he was in the great war and remembers the Decepticons as stated before, these kids he's workin' with are either descendants of the original 'bots or named in honor of them.
If this was the same Ratchet as the G1 Ratchet then he should have knowen that the other eliment in glob of the creature that entered their ship was organic.
[quote:Animated Ratchet] "What ever it is ,it definetly has circircuritry...and .........some.....thing....else[/guote]
That something else was organic material. If he was G1 Ratchet he should have knowen that.G1 Ratchet was well awaer of the different kinds of organic life on earth and threw out the universe.

Kryptoniteking wrote:As I've stated before on another thread, this new incarnation fails because it does not draw on the original fascination we all had with the original series.
Before you jump on that statement, let me explain. The original toys were based off of real vehicles we all would see on the streets, skies and television. How many of us can name what type of vehicles the original Prowl, Silverbolt, Starscream & Bumblebee were? I know we can all name the type of vehicles all the characters transformed into from this past summer's movie!
I (personally) can't understand why, since the original animated movie, they would continue to go the direction of "futuristic" vehicles or for that matter, basing the later series in the future. The appeal, to me, was that everything was set in the "here and now", the Autobots and Decepticons were disguised as vehicles/machines in the "here and now".
Why do you think the TF toy sales went down (and eventually away) for awhile in the 90s?
If it weren't for the Alternator & Masterpiece line-ups I probably would not have gotten back in the business of collecting the toys or watching any of the new cartoons! I mean, c'mon... Smokescreen as a Subaru WRC Impreza... ANIMATE THAT SHIZZLE!
This is, by far, the worst "reboot" of a classic!
Well said. That is exactly why Transformers was great when they first came out. This new Teenformers series is the worst reboot since Animal Wars. I will also ignore this series and wait until Transformers 2.

Some people might continue to watch it in the hopes that it will improve. Does that mean though they shouldn't have a say about it because it's "bitching" when if they don't like it they should just stop watching it?

Baseball sucks so I don't watch it. Even though I used to love it in the late 80's. But what if I kept watching it just so I could go on the internet and tell people in Baseball forums how lame their hobby/obsession was. Now that wastes every bodys time.
