A lot of times he would be talking to/arguing with himself when doing the voices of those guys. Especially the episode when Rattrap and Dinobot have to team up to get something from Tarantuals to cure Rhinox's virus. Half of that episode was McNeil yelling at himself. :P

True, the characters did that but how do you know he did the recording for all thoughs voices at the same time?

He could have come in one day to record all Rattraps lines and then did all of Dinobot's lines at a completly different time.

It's one thing to be able to change how you sound. It's another thing entirely to actully do multiple voices all at the same time. That's much harder to do. (Allthough it's probly easier than throwing your voice.)

Anyone know any vantrilliquists? I want to take them to a strip club so they can throw their voices in places they don't belong.

I never said he did the recordings at the same time. i just said that whenever his characters spoke/yelled/argued with each other, it was like he was bashing himself back and forth.

And it's not that hard for everyone to do a many voices at once. Some people can do it with litle/no problem.I do it all the time when trying to quote characters' conversations in movies and TV shows.

Yep, I have a friend who is good at that sort of thing... he does it frequently to joke around with me. As for recording, he once did a little clip for fun where he did every voice in the clip (about 6-7 of them), and even though I know his voice well I still had to pause and think about it to be sure he did all of them.

But yeah, there's many instances of TF actors doing voices in the same scene, sometimes even arguing with themselves: Wheeljack/Sparkplug, Air Raid/Slingshot, Frank Welker did, like, half the Season 1 Decepticons *and* several of the Autobots, etc.

Admittedly I dunno if they recorded any of their lines at the same time or not, but it's really not common to *ever* have all the characters in a conversation/scene doing their lines at the same time. IIRC, most voice work is recorded individually.

If they have an actor who portrays several characters, I would think the voice director would have him/her do as many of the lines as possible while they're in the studio.

Yes, but not all at the same time. I.E. you'd do all the lines for one character, then all the lines for the other character, etc.

Unless the characters are interacting with each other in some way; it would help the sound techs with timing later.

Depends. Longer takes help with timing, but they're also harder to edit in terms of screw-ups. Easier to take many smaller takes and put them together into a scene, than it is to take several long takes and either cut them up and splice together the "good bits" or keep going until you get one clean take.

Yup, I'd be willing to bet that's how most voice recording is done.

Just because you got one guy doing voices for several different characters doesn't mean that guy is actully going to talking to himself in the recording studio.

BTW I personally have trouble switching back and fourth between voices. Some times if there are more than 2 voices going at once I'll switch into the wrong character. Of course I'm useually just improving with a group of friends so I just make them think I did it on purpus.

I've hated my voice ever sence it cracked. Everything else I can deal with, looseing my voice I never could and still can't deal with.

Three strainge things about my voice.

1. According to my dad, I've been known to talk like people who are famous to him but I've never heard of them.

2. I will offten start talking in a different voice durring normal conversation and not even realize I'm doing it. Once while talking about Star Trek I randomly started talking like Apu from the Simpsons and about a week after that I started talking like Cartman from South Park.

3. Most of the time when I go into these accidental voices I end up in something new that I never even realized I was able to do... then I get pissed off when I try to do them on purpus and can't.

Ugh, it’s a Bumblebee episode? Even worse, human villains with corny superpowers? I thought this show couldn’t get any worse.

Thanks for telling me though. :)

A random thought, but transformers.com is down. Might they be updating it for Animated or Allspark power? It hasn't been updated for months.

A lot of people were talking as if Animated would have little to no human influence unlike the hated Unicron trilogy (which I don’t count as a trilogy since the third series was not intended to be a sequel), but of all the transformers series this one has had almost the most human influence of them all! That fact and the animation are probably what make me dislike the show.

The Hasbro site as a hole is down, I couldn’t get on the GIJoe site either, good observation though. I didn’t think about that.

EDIT: The transformers site is back up, but the whole thing took forever to load and is a complete mess on the first page. Says I need the most recent version of flash player and there doesn’t appear to be anything new sadly.

the human villain thing is pretty average, but i am actually not minding the solo character eps where we get to know one of them more. their all pretty deep and have psychological strengths and weaknesses. and as we saw in blast from the past things dont always work out nice and cheery. bulkhead started out being sensitive about his size and lack of speed and grace, prowl tried to help him but in the end they both failed, and bulkhead for the most part accepted his role as the autobot muscle.

im hoping it might be a bit megatron heavy like the dinobot ep was. it had a whole other story about the dinobots but ended up showing us alot of what megatron was up to, and advancing the major arc for this season a fair bit. so with any luck thats what the more boring sounding eps will do.

Today's episode was pretty good. Nanosec was an interesting villian. It was creative to have his body age faster as he moved at high speeds more often. This really differentiates him from such well-known speedsters like the Flash, Superman, Sonic the Hedgehog, Blurr, and the like.

Also, it was cool that we finally get to see Bumblebee's rocket thrusters in the show. While they look very different in color compared to the toy, where they are blue instead of yellow and black, they are very powerfula and dangerous to use indeed.

And it was nice to see Megatron again. Since he'll get his body fixed at the end of the first season, I was kinda hoping that Nanosec would've made his delivery on time, making one loss for the Autobots and Megatron's first success.

But one thing confuses me. Since Nanosec was in it for the money, and Megatron gave him Sumdac's SS#, I don't see why Nanosec didn't just use the SS# get more money instead of using it once and then following Megatron's order. Since he had the number, he could've ignored Megs and get rich fast. Why bother making the delivery when he just get all the money he wanted without having to bother with the package?

Wasn't this also the first time we saw Bee's battle mask? Kinda neat-o. I'm glad they have a lot of Bee-centered episodes. I absolutely love him.

Poor Prime. Eventually he'll become of leader of these bumbles. I'm glad, though, that they are taking their time to develop him, and he'll probably take a big leap into leadership when the Cons show up and they have no choice but to work together and follow orders.

Wonder what Megs is going to do now since he doesn't have that compound for his circuitry. He's still in a bit of trouble when it comes to putting himself back together, and poor Sumdac just doesn't seem to have what it takes to do it for him. I'm really wondering how Megs is going to get out of his predictament. As of yet he's no better off than he was the first episode.

Just got done watching it. Here’s what I thought.

First in the scene were Prowl threw that tri-blade thing at Nano-sec, Nano-sec should have had his guts torn out and thrown across the street but of course they cant show that in a kids show can they? I would have preferred them to avoid such a scene if they cant do it with detail.

Nano-sec wasn’t as farfetched as I thought he would be, which is a plus. I liked the idea of him using a power suit.

Now onto the animation which is still what I thought about the last episode. Looks so poor I found certain scenes hard to tell what was going on, other scenes looked okay or at least much better than those we saw early in the episode.

Also, on the scene were Bumblebee went into the atmosphere. I liked how this scene was done except one major thing, Bumblebee went into the atmosphere and came back with barely any damage, I would have liked to seen a little more detail here. I did slightly enjoy this scene though as it much reminded me of the episode of Zeta Gundam were the Hyakushiki launched the MK-2 into the air to shoot down the Ashimar and being the huge Gundam fan I am, it improved my thoughts on this scene.

Bumblebee and Sari I hated, both were constantly in the way and I found it rather unrealistic that bumblebee got away with a mere “take his boosters away!” which in the end of the episodes they seemingly forgot to do.

In the end, I feel Animated is very overrated and doesn’t live up to the hype. I hope the next episode will improve on these problems.

Also, did anyone catch the Cliffjumper and Bugbite references? when BB comes back into Earth's atmosphere, the heat is so great that he burns red, and look a lot like a Cliffjumper repaint. and when he's on the ground after having been slowed and sprayed by Ratchet and Prime, he's a light gray color, like Bugbite. Coincidence? Who knows.

Fun little thing for me, but Nanosec (Nino Sexton) shares my last name, not an ultra rare last name, but its very rare to hear it on TV.

Overall, an enjoyable episode. It wasn't mind blowing, but it was a satisfying Saturday morning cartoon to watch while I ate my breakfast.

I liked it, did you notice? Nanosec looks a lot like Carnage, just with a long pointy chin.
Kinda sad that he aged with that suit.

Megatron was once again awesome, loved how he said "I guess it was a inside job." at the end.

This was a corny episode compared to how the show began. After these last two, I can only hope it gets better. I WANT to see more of the Dinobots, Megatron, the Decepticons, and especially Starscream. But I'm still excited and Animated is currently my favorite thing on television.

1. This is Carnage

Image

Nanosec looks nothing like him.

2. Someone mentioned the Cliffjumper and Bugbite refrences, what about Goldbug? His battle mask looks exactly like G1 Goldbug's battle mask.

3. I like the fact that the Decepticons aren't in every episode getting their afterburners handed to them. And the human villains have not been that bad. I kinda wish there were more villains that could realistically be a challenge for a group of giant robots. Meltdown was that kind of realistic challenge with his melting powers but a guy who runs fast, lame, Angry Archer, Lamer.
