You may want this, but it is unlikely to ever materialize. A series ending with the bad guys wining and taking over (and no future series in that universe) would be tough for the line to pull off given that it is a line primarily aimed at younger folk. As someone mentioned earlier, the people posting on this thread are not the target audience for this show.

Then why do the TFs use such big words in Prime? If I were some 8 year old kid watching the show, I probably wouldn't understand half the things any of them are saying. I always kind of saw TFP as...not a little kid's show.

Sabrblade wrote:To be honest, man, why are you even a fan of this franchise if you so badly want the bad guys to win? A big selling point of the Transformers is that good can, does, and always will triumph over evil. No matter how bad things get, the stories always come around with a sense of hope that goodness will reign in the end. The evil factions must lose, no matter how successful they may ever get before then. The only times they ever go the route of "the bad guy wins" are in special cases like alternate timelines/realities, events that eventually lead up to the good guys winning in the end, a dream/fantasy/false reality, a storyline that gets dropped midway through by the powers that be, or other such abnormal cases. And nearly all of these only come in the form of comic books, since those can get away with doing that kind of stuff more than cartoons or movies can since the cartoons/movies are the most mainstream forms of TF story media, and as such have stricter rules set by Hasbro as to what kind of stories they can tell. The only reason TF: Prime season 2 ended the way it did was because it was both a cliffhanger done for suspense, and was eventually undone by the events of season 3 giving a much-needed turn-around victory to the heroes. Hasbro will never intentionally let the villains win in the end because it would give their brand an otherwise negative image. This is a franchise whose stories promote and support positive, virtuous messages of hope, peace, love, kindness, friendship, camaraderie, loyalty, honor, and many more, and has thrived on for so long partly because of it.

Yes. Doesn't mean it's not lame, though.

Transformers has its share of stories where the bad guys win, albeit temporarily.
Last year's BotCon story, "Invasion" ended with the bad guys successfully destroying the Classicverse. It's plot hasn't yet been resolved.
It's a war. Sometimes the bad guys win. The majority of Transformers TV series, however, are aimed at children, and they tend to end with the good guys winning. Yet Prime is far more generous with letting the baddies win (two seasons in a row before their comeuppance!), and the bad guys won significant victories in Beast Wars and Beast Machines before that.
And the wars go on. As the writings of Furman teach us- "It never ends!"

Series 1. The war for Cybertron. It ends in a draw both sides are forced to abandon the planet.
Series 2. War on earth. It ends with the defeat of the Autobot army/death of Optimus Prime and the Decepticons restoring Cybertron.
Series 3. The resistance(20 years after series 2). Earth(no kids) and the remnants of the autobots under a new prime/Optimus Prime take the fight back to the cons.

Which would be a continuation of the story and thus not a story where the bad guys win in the end.

I don't want the bad guys to win in the end. I've never said I wanted them to win in the end. I just want the cons to be more formidable.
You're only on the fourth episode. Keep watching.vegetacron wrote:One thing i'm perplexed about: Wheres the "beast hunter" bit come in? Other than Predacon, i am not seeing any beasts for the bots to be hunting.

Technically, it's kinda tricky to really pin down what to describe the Great Exodus as. For most the war, the Cons were trying to conquer the planet by any means necessary, whether by killing off as many Autobots who opposed them or by simply forcing them into surrender. Plenty of times had Megatron demand that the Autobots leave the planet or be destroyed, and when the war ended, the planet was in so bad a shape that the Autobots could no longer afford to stay there. They were forced to evacuate due to their planet becoming inhospitable. But, by that point, Megatron seemed to no longer want them to leave the planet (for some reason), and tried to stop the Great Exodus. Then when the space bridge portal came into play, it became a race to see who could get to it first, with the Ark trying to both flee the planet and reach the portal first, with the Nemesis in hot pursuit. In a sense, the Autobots were indeed driven off planet because the warmongering actions of the Decepticons brought about unlivable conditions to the planet, and because the Cons essentially won the war and took control of 90+% of the planet, meaning any Autobots who didn't leave would die if they stayed, if not by the Decepticon's hands then by the harsh conditions of the planet.Red 50 wrote:njb902 wrote:Ha the cons are pathetic(exception of Soundwave) . Are you pulling my circuitry?
The cons NEVER drove the autobots off Cybertron! Both factions mostly went into exile since the planet was unable to sustain life! Only a small number remained, but everyone else left BY THEMSELVES! NO ONE was DRIVEN OFF!
It's been through the Video-games, comics and even mentioned in the show!
Capitalizing only to put emphasis on the words. Don't get me wrong.

Not even Beast or Animated Megs? (who are arguably the two most sound minded, rational thinking Megatrons)Archanubis wrote:Sabrblade wrote:But, by that point, Megatron seemed to no longer want them to leave the planet (for some reason), and tried to stop the Great Exodus.
Chalk it up to either Motive Decay or Sanity Slippage. Maybe a combination of both. Let's face it, the Megatrons across the franchise have never been a picture of mental health.
