Despite the fact that there are quite a bit of 5th Gen-ers I don't like, there's also a few I think are just awesome.
Especially Ononokusu and Urugamosu(it's American name is just ugly, Ulgamoth, really? ick), Genosekuto could have been cool but they really screwed up on it's face.

I would imagine the Pokémon have gone through several stages of design with several people/teams, and Ken Sugimori merely provides their finalized art.

I've been having Pokemon on the brain pretty bad recently. I recently played through Emerald and in the course of one week captured all three weather dragons, all three legendary golems, and I beat both the Elite Four and Steven.

My strategy for the Elite Four was "Focus on type advantage, save Raichu for Wallace, Rayquaza (The only of the weather dragons I had and the only one in my party over level 60) is emergency use ONLY!" This ended up as "Save Raichu for Wallace, have Rayquaza brutally murder everyone else."

Turns out I have no concept of a fair fight.

Actually considering the l/r interchangeability, the tendency for most consonants to be followed by vowels in Japanese writing, as well as the Japanese inability to use the "th" sound, Ulgamoth may actually be the correct name rather than the usual American renaming.

Oh, I always assumed since it was so different it was the American version, in that case I still prefer Urugamosu but at least there's some hope for a good English name.

The Black/White starters English names have been released,and in my opinion the Japanese names are way better.

Grass Starter-Snivy
Fire Starter- Tepig
Water Starter- Oshawott

and the Isshu Region in now known as the Unova Region.

I kinda like Unova. Sounds, uh, "western" (Anglo-Saxon? Latin? specifically reminds me of "nova/novus"), which is appropriate given it's western setting. The previous regions all had an Asian ring to them, and were fittingly based off Japan. In that sense, "Isshu" really doesn't fit an "American" region.

Also thanks for the news on those Gen4 events. I got Heart Gold and Platinum for Christmas. I've been playing Platinum obsessively and I'll start playing Heart Gold obsessively once I'm done here.

Lets see here, Serbii, Pokegym.net, and Pokebeach, yeah there are several sites for threads like this. Its not like I hate Pokemon or anything, Because I don't, I happen to love Pokemon with a passion. I'm just saying, I don't know if this would be the best place for this thread... : /

Fennel (Formerly Makomo) is going to take a lot of getting used to. I mean, sure, it's the name of a flower, but there are a lot more feminine-sounding flower-names than that. Bianca (Formerly Bel) even more so considering it's already taken.

Right now I'm focusing on leveling up some of my weaker pokemon in Soul Silver.
My current party-

SIMON- Lv.25 male Evee
Quick Attack, Dig, Sand-Attack, Growl

DARLING- Lv.36 female Vulpix
Fire Spin, Payback, Flamethrower, Iron Tail

STEVEN- Lv.37 male Togetic
Metronome, Fly, Psychic, Ancient Power

ZERO- Lv.40 male shiny Gyarados
Twister, Ice Fang, Aqua Tail, Rain Dance

SUICUNE- Lv.41 Suicune
Rain Dance, Water Pulse, Aurora Beam, Roar

ROCK- Lv.53 male Feraligatr
Waterfall, Cut (unfortunately, he's the only one in my general party that can learn it), Surf, Hydro Cannon.

By the way, does anyone know where I can get a fire stone and a thunder(or whatever the elec. type is called, my mind just blanked) stone?

As for shiny pokemon, I have my Gyarados, and SAPPHIRE, a male Ponyta (I'll check his move-set and level later).

A FireStone can be won in the Bug Catching Contest, bought with points in the Poketholon Dome on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, or gotten from Bill's Grandfather in his house on route 25 by showing him a Growlithe (HG) or Vulpix (SS), or on Route 36 via a trainer call.
