Ya know, it is G1, but it's more about a Takara esthetic for me. Even in their modernization, they look like Takara could have designed them. Something about the head sculpts.

Think it looked better with the shorter dino neck. Don't know why TW would bother to resculpt the Dino neck to make it longer. Guessing for the combined form.
If you look at the new dino mode pics you can see the dino head turns where the prototype shows no evidence of this. I think that you're right - it looked better before, but I think giving it the ability to turn is a worthwhile tradeoff.

i know what you mean they are very much a classics figure i did have Roar and he fit right in, were as FP are FP figures they might be dinobots but they are not classsics like TW ive always saw them as more FOC styled.

Would like to see the TW Combiner head, to see what it looks like.
What scale are these TW Dinobots toys in robot modes. Guessing 8.0 Ultra class toys.
Would like to see TW Grimlock in robot mode next to the other TW Dinobots robot modes. So I can see how they all scale next to each other in robot modes.

Tsu - BBTS description says Roar is 7.6 in. tall. So I'd say between Voyager and Ultra. Although for Corelock it reads, "a large T-Rex figure that stands head and shoulders above the rest." Whatever that means.

Can see what your referring to. Didn't notice before that the resculpted neck gave rotation articulation. Also think it's a good trade off.

19cm Translates to 7.48 inches which most round off to 7.5 inches. So it's not 7.6 inches like the BBTS site says it is.
Back on topic, Wondering if each TW Dinobot robot mode is a different height. Wonder if TW will make Sludge and Grimlock's robot modes the tallest. While Swoop's robot mode is the shortest. With Snarl's robot being the 2nd shortest. While Slag's robot mode is bulkier and the 3rd tallest.

Not bad, not bad. I think Toyworld handled the size discrepancy inherent in a combiner better than Shuraking.
It looks like you can further collapse the legs in robot mode making him even closer in height to the limbs too. I wonder if it'll look alright or if it'll just make him look funny.

I appreciate the attempt some designers make at integration, but it usually doesn't pan out. I'd rather have parts-forming combiners. Didn't bother me when I was a kid, doesn't bother me nowCobotron wrote:I'm old school, so I can handle the parts. But integration is always cool.

While I agree with your overall point, I think Herc is a bad example of it. Fera Rex does a decent job, though.
Well, even if I do agree that it'd be cool if the feet became rocket launchers, it also doesn't really bug me either. Rocket launchers would be put in the parts bin anyhow.
