There are a bunch of different combinations of size, price point, level of detail, and brand. You can get a 6" Marvel figure for $20 from Hasbro or for $100 from Mexico. You can get a 12" of the same for $10 from Hasbro or for $300 from Hot Toys. There are so many different factors that go into these different product classes that I don't see why Transformers should be any different.
Additionally, though many collectors are fans of an IP franchise first, others collect product brands. I think that's part of the appeal of ubiquitous brands like ReAction and Funko Pop. If you already have Turtles and Thundercats Ultimates, you might want to add a Prime to that shelf.
I get the appeal of some of these. Like, if I didn't already have MP Optimus and Megatron, or ER Optimus and Megatron with the accessories pack, it might be nice to have the R.E.D. versions to stage the battle over the dam. As it is, I like having a ReAction Alpha Trion because it's more faithful to the cartoon than any other representation. I'm not sure if these will last long enough or cover territory that's missing in Generations, but I think there's room for lots of different takes on these characters.
