Really says something when the directors of both Bumblebee and ROTB approach the film with a reboot like mind despite the producer doing literally anything he can to keep it not as a reboot.
Regardless of it all just can't stand Lorenzo as far as being a producer goes and not just in regards to his involvement in Transformers films, no faith in the Transformers x Gi-Joe idea considering Snake Eyes.
Yes, I agree with all of that, because that's basically the truth to it all. This franchise is in continuity limbo on purpose to both give creativity to the new people on board but also retain any pre established fanbase. Personally, not a fan. I'd rather have something end and then do something clearly new.
I do want to clarify one thing though, regarding your quote. While we can see what's going on, the question was asked at the global press conference and the answer was that this is not a reboot. That is an official stance from the producer, speaking to the global press, after being asked to confirm how the film should be interpreted. So it's a fact that the production team does not consider this film to be a reboot when compared to the other films in the franchise.
And that piece of info helps us understand what can happen going forward. It means that Paramount can tie things up later if they want and it means that there won't be a clear severance from the other movies in the series.
