The flash coming next week is probably going to squash it. It's a shame. Because all stuff with Keaton Batman looks great but Ezra Miller is a creep and I'm not giving my support to anything with him.

I feel the same way, a shame WB didn't just drop the Flash aspects and just make a Batman Beyond movie with old man Keaton

Could still be on the table as an elseworlds thing, which is an aspect of the brand James Gunn wants to dive deeper in.
I'm very curious to see how Flash changes things.

When Mirage makes a deal with Noah, promising he can sell him for cash if Noah gets the Autobots the transwarp key, he shows off by transforming into a Lamborghini, and then A FORMULA ONE CAR LIKE IN G1!
In conclusion I am happy at least something I like will come out of this movie.

That has not been confirmed by the studio yet, and we do not know if it will be available globally or just in some markets on that day. We'll let you know when we have more info.
With it not getting a full release in Australia until June 22, I may as well save my money (and wear and tear on the car) and just wait for a digital release.
And if it's not released digitally in Australia, then I go back to my old ways and pirate it. We're a nation of pirates founded on the backs of criminals, this is what happens when you delay releases just for a few extra school holiday dollars.

Yeah, the second week tells the tale. That's when the word-of-mouth moviegoers and second viewers show up. Personally, I haven't heard any reviews that make me want to spend any money on it.

The only issue is that movie critics are as full of sh!te as an average politician. Most are simply there for the shock quality, others are there for "dedication to the art". Very few are there for "Is this movie fun or entertaining?" There's simply no money in that and you can't make a name for yourself by being nice. So pretty much all reviews are trash.

I have a tendency to agree. Rotten Tomatoes has been suspected of altering and removing reviews for a long time. Nonetheless, I still haven't heard anything from the professional shills, naysayers, or fanboys that make this movie any more appealing than the myriad of teasers and trailers we've seen so far. I know several places where I can get a hamburger that I'll enjoy more and pay less for than a ticket to this. Ironically, I do wish this thing some measure of success as it keeps the brand alive as my participation in it wanes.

If it helps, my PERSONAL review is that it was a thoroughly enjoyable movie, definitely worth price of admission. It feels very much like the old Saturday morning cartoons I grew up with, fun and slightly over the top while not being to top-heavy. Some of the camera angles and shots are really good and the bots look FAR more polished than any of the other movies. Mirage is a great entertainer to hook kids, Prime is very Prime-y with a lot of homesickness and guilt for being marooned on Earth incorporated. The humans are non-intrusive, just advancing the plot enough when needed. The focus is very much on the bots. In my mind, on a par with the Bee movie and fun.
Hope this helps.

I remember when they reviewed the 1989 rerelease of Disney's animated Peter Pan on At The Movies, and where Ebert was approaching from a technical standpoint, Siskel was completely enamored with how much watching the movie made him feel like a kid again.

I was questioning if ROTB is supposed to be a horror movie for a few seconds there!
I absolutely hate Wheeljack's accent. Just can't get over it, it sounds awful.
Airazor's voice sounds less terrible, they choose her worst lines for the trailers, but still not that great.

I'm a pretty big Bayverse apologist but even I thought that and AoE were truly terrible, and actively unpleasant movies to sit through.
Regardless, excited to see RoB today.

"The notion that most TF fans are unfit and slow is a common misconception. Watch when a new figure is revealed that isn't based on a G1 design, and you'll see a sizeable detachment of them sprinting to their keyboards to type "easy pass" so quickly it'll make your head spin."

Terrible, maybe. But I feel like CinemaScore is more a measure of how FUN a movie is. Let's face it....they were dumb, but they were fun movies. At least, for me they were.

Rise of the Beasts' Box Office Crashes in its Second Week-End and Might Make Less than Bumblebee
Posted by william-james88 Mon Jun 19, 2023 8:46 am
Internationally, the film is doing better. It beat Spider-verse there by 35% (37M vs 27M) but when looking at the dollar numbers, it was still not enough to get to the 300 Million dollar mark globally. Both domestically and internationally, Rise of the Beasts crashed in its second week-end, with its revenue losing 66-67% compared to last week's numbers.
As of right now, according to analysts, Transformers Rise of the Beasts seems to be heading for an estimated 390-440M total global box office. If the final number is within that range, then this would be the lowest earner in the live action franchise and it would not break even, since its estimated budget is 200M before marketing and Paramount only retains 50% of box office revenue at most. By comparison, Bumblebee made 460M in total but its budget was 100M, so half of ROTB.
Here are the numbers:
Domestic Box Office for June 16 week-end
Flash 55M
Elemental 29.5M
Spider-verse 27.8M
ROTB 20M
International Box Office numbers for the same films for June 16 week-end
Flash 75M
ROTB 37.2M
Spider-verse 27.6M
Elemental 15M
Global run so far of those same films
Spider-verse 489M
ROTB 274M
Flash 139M
Elemental 44M

NO ONE did well at the box office this weekend. The Flash is a legitimate flat-out flop, worse than ROTB, and Elemental is even worse; looks like Pixar may be 'dead man walking' right now. But both DID detract and draw from the audience of ROTB.
This summer is going to be unique...the short transit time between theater and digital anymore as well as theater prices, which were already high, being affected by inflation is moving people away from theaters in general- especially for movies that they may be "on the fence" seeing. I'm in that group for Flash, honestly. I'm not seeing it in theater but I may see it once it hits streaming/DVD. ROTB I'm planning on seeing again this coming weekend because it was fun, but a lot of my friends- who also plan on repeating seeing it- chose to see FLash this weekend.
Is it time to move away from box office gross in order to truly measure a movie's success? Look at the success of "Mortal Kombat" and how it was released as the new standard?

Domestic Box Office for June 16 week-end
Flash 55M
Elemental 29.5M
Spider-verse 27.8M
ROTB 20M
International Box Office numbers for the same films for June 16 week-end
Flash 75M
ROTB 37.2M
Spider-verse 27.6M
Elemental 15M
These numbers are weak, no matter how you look at them. Each one of these films had hundreds of millions sunk into their writing, production, marketing, and distribution. For Flash and Elemental especially, they were supposed to come roaring out of the gate and rake in cash by the truckloads. And it obviously isn't happening. And don't tell us it's because everyone is saving up to see "Dial of Destiny" instead.
People can argue all kinds of things as to the reasoning. But ultimately, it all boils down to 3 things: content, content, content. If the entertainment industry was making good films that people wanted to see, then people would be going to see them regardless of any external factors short of a war or a natural disaster. Streaming and Covid did not make movie theaters irrelevant. The content of the films has made movie theaters irrelevant.
