Yeah, that's more of a social class thing than anything. This.
But the director's prejudices are still apparent when all the "assholes bosses" were all white.
For more realism and to "proves" that there was no biases, the posh jet-set museum boss should have been also black, at the very least. Because in reality, no matter the races, there's people "on top" and people "on the bottom." Classism is the most important vector of prejudices.
As for that bit about "celebrating "black" and "latino" culture, that's the most nonsensical statement ever from that director. Because in the movie, the only "black culture" thing I could see is the "street criminals culture" (oh boy, way to go, Hollywood.) As for the "latino" culture, there was none. There was a South American country festival, but that's not "latino" culture, that's Peru's culture.
Labelling any culture with a "color" is something that makes no sense.
Regardless, to see any "agenda" in this movie appart the desire to sell toys, one must need a heavy duty tinfoil hat and a big board with a tons of red strings.

Ok, so it seems the tf wiki entry missed a fun easter egg in the trivia section for this film. They mention Mirage turning into an F1 car as an homage to G1, but then he also says he can turn into a Ferari (and might turn into one at the moment, but the camera is on Noah). That's a nod to Bayverse Dino. Or it could be. Either way, that element is mising from the wiki, they only mention the F1 car and the Lambo, not the Ferari.

I appreciate the fact that Mirage and Dino have separate pages now.
Now if only we could get to the point where we could do that with Wheeljack and Que, in a wiki acceptable manner.

I am glad we can finally separate Que/Dino from Wheeljack/Mirage more widely. I have always considered those 2 their own characters, it allows for so much more freedom.

And because ROTB Wheeljack is portrayed as a youngster, with a voice that makes him sound like he just graduated high school, while BB wheeljack sounded middle-aged, with Steve Blum emulating Chris Latta's G1 Wheeljack voice, so it made little sense to consider the BB and ROTB Wheeljacks the same since aging doesn't work backwards.

IT makes sense. If this bot is really younger, he could have taken Wheeljack's name in homage, or maybe it's just a common name on Cybertron and multiple bots are named Wheeljack. Like James, Elizabeth, David, Peter, etc.

Top Gun Maverick, Spiderman No Way Home, and Super Mario Brothers prove that you give people what they want to see rather than what you want to force on them, they'll show up.
I've been a TF fan since the beginning and I've seen it all. What I haven't seen, but desperately want to, is a TF movie based on Lost Light. Show me a trailer with Ultra Magnus getting drunk in a bar and people jumping off a roof on him to force him to transform and my butt will be in a movie theater seat to see it. And I bet others would want to see, too.
Oh man, if that got made I would buy multiple tickets. Too bad these movies aren't made for us.

Rise of the Beast Box Office Report: Film Slips to 5th Place Domestically But Reaches 340M Globally
Posted by william-james88 Sun Jun 25, 2023 10:36 pm
Internationally, everyone got outdone by China with their new film Lost in the Stats which openned with close to 100M in China alone (which is more than ROTB got in its opening week-end in its home turf). Another big winner, internationally, was Elemental which more than doubled what it got last week, and making it the best performing western release in overseas markets this past week-end.
As of right now, it's still not looking good for ROTB, with projections still having it the worst performing live action TF film. However, the global market is showing that it won't be a total bomb either, just shy of breaking even. Which is more than what the Flash can say. Due to an estimated 150M marketing budget, it looks like the Flash would have been more profitable to simply be released on MAX (or VOD) than doing a global theatrical release.
The ROTB numbers are strong enough to suggest that the film would have been far more successful if released in at a less crowded time. Hence why a sequel may still happen.
Domestic Box Office for June 24 week-end
1. Spider-verse 19.3M
2. Elemental 18.4M
3. Flash 15.2M
4. No Hard Feelings 15.1M
5. ROTB 11.6M
International Box Office numbers for the same films for June 24 week-end
Elemental 31.3M
Flash 26.6M
ROTB 25.6M
Spider-verse 22M
Remember that this all pales in comparison to this week's number 1 global winner, Lost in the Stars, which made 97.1M, just in China, drowning out any momentum Rise of the Beasts (or any other western release) may have had there.
Global run so far of those same films
Spider-verse 560M
ROTB 341.2M
Flash 210.9M
Elemental 121M
Figures and predictions were compiled by Luis Fernando on Twitter.

From what I've heard, the CGI is half-assed and Miller himself is the weakest part of the film, and there's two of him. For me it was superhero fatigue. After the Infinity Saga, both Marvel and DC seem to just be flinging crap against the wall trying to see what sticks. Had they done a Batman Beyond movie with Keaton, my ass would have been there on opening night. As it is, I don't care enough about the Flash to spend money, and the Batman scenes will find their way to the internet eventually.

If flash had been different actors I might have seen it bit both flash tv series had their good moments ans some of the animated. If rise of the beasts had been more bumblebee 2 or unassociated with everything before Id probably still wait to see it just because of the other live actions.

I think it is partially due to Miller himself, bad word of mouth, and the fact the DC's audience has in large parts given up on it. At least Marvel as come up with stuff with more consistent and (at worst) passing quality. DC, though I personally have enjoyed some of the DCEU stuff, is just all over the place, more bad than good.
I am sad to see ROTB doing so poorly. I think it had the same problem as the DCs films, past movies caused too much brand damage (plus opening with so many blockbusters back to back certainly didn't help).

It also still has yet to open in Japan, which I'm also wary of how well that release will do, since it's been confirmed that that the Japanese dub director for this movie is none other than Yoshikazu Iwanami, the same man who directed the voice acting and script localization for the Japanese gag dubs that were Beast Wars, Beast Machines, Animated, Prime, and Cyberverse.william-james88 wrote:To respond to the previous comment on ROTB not having opened in every market yet, well it's opened in Oceania now and that only added 3 million.
Prepare for every dramatic moment in this movie to be undercut by fourth wall jokes, many more pop culture references, severe personality changes, and oodles of gag humor.
Nightbird's being voiced by Blackarachnia's Japanese voice actor. Expect her to be one of the silliest characters in the dub.

Most of the fans would have hit the preview screenings two weeks ago. It was also the first weekend of school holidays in some States so people may have been travelling.
Plus you know ... every other movie out there at the moment.
