these figures are simple enough as it is and have a lot of restrictions as it is.. why throw in a giant forearm that they have to work around and risk ruining the look and the articulation of the figure, just so you can have integrated forearms? i'm sorry, but that just sounds dumb.
the forearms and the chest plate should be separate pieces. doing so, like i said above, will allow for better looking figures and better articulation.
so, i just can't grasp why people are bummed and even disappointed in parts-forming forearms.
Idk, about others, but I like not having parts that can get lost (or worse yet, do nothing) when separated. I get that it's a set and a lot of people keep him in Devastator mode for display, but to me that's not the full experience. And it's not like tread forearms can't happen (as demonstrated by Hercules).
I'd also posit the question, what then do the forearms and chest piece do when not as Devastator? Extra trailers? Weapons even more unruly than CW hand/feet? Or do they just serve as articulation upgrades like some third parties do for G1 Devs?
how old are you? that is literally the worst excuse for not doing something like this.. "because it could get lost"? come on man.. we're not children.. invest in a parts box or something to keep them in.. i'm sorry, i just REALLY hate the "it could get lost" excuse.. i'm REALLY happy that, with the masterpiece figures they didn't compromise any of the alt modes to store the weapons. they just added a plug on the top of the datsuns, and lambos. primes gun stores, but not to the detriment of the figure. it doesn't hinder articulation or the look.
i would REALLY REALLY REALLY prefer not to have tread arms.. it looks dumb on hercules.. the treads on the shoulders are a unique iconic look for G1 devastator.. they should be where they're supposed to be, they shouldn't be making up the forearms.. i wouldn't want starscreams wings on his legs.. not having the treads at the shoulder connection would be like G1 prime not having windows on his chest or prowl not having his door wings, it's just wrong.
i'd also argue that, for me, it's more enjoyable to add parts to figures.. like the city commander armor.. putting that together is fun.. or fire convoy, that's also fun.
there are more strong positives of having the forearms be separate pieces than there are for them being integrated.. i'd MUCH rather have a better articulated, more accurate figure and have to deal with two extra pieces than having a further simplified figure with more kibble, less articulation, less accuracy, and no extra parts.
there are really easy ways to make the forearms integrate to their alt modes as accessories without compromising the figures themselves. turn them into trailers.. separate them them and attach them to the back of the figures.. i don't care how they do it because i'd just store them in a parts box (the place i put stuff so it doesn't get lost). .. oh.. and we're talking about rather large pieces, not a tiny small piece like MP bumblebee's license plate. if you can't keep track of giant forearms and hands.. i don't know what to tell you.
i know people like hercules.. but his shoulders are awful looking.. G1 devastators shoulders are iconic, hercules shoulders don't resemble that. it's that simple. MT Giant look fantastic.. THAT is the way devastator should be done.
