I think it's funny...I keep hearing scale issues with Devy. Personally, I think Devy is the only correctly scaled combiner, not complaining though. Can't wait for preorder for him.

Voyagers with almost completely hollow legs... and even no elbows? Sure, Devastator looks nice in combined mode, but the Constructicons look a bit too cheap-made for me.

Re: Transformers Generations Devastator - So Big It Needs Its Own Thread
For me, this is the only 'must have' that I saw from the show. There are a few problems, such as Hook's elbows, but for the most part, this looks great. I hated gen. Jetfire because of the hollow areas, but they don't look that bad on the constructicons. The hollow silver thighs can be overlooked and the other hollows look like they might be like that for transformation, which is acceptable. I'm not liking the black hands, though. Those suckers should be purple (and mine will be)

Not an apologist for Hasbro/Tomy. I too hated the non strategically located hollow parts of the arms. WT# were they thinking?!
But, even back in 1988, PM Optimus Prime had a lot of hollow parts too but you didn't notice them because they were hollowed out strategically. So not really surprising.
Just hope we all can manage to get him before the scalpers get to him.

I have a feeling this guy will have a much wider distribution than previous exclusives. Hasbro spent extra money making this guy eligible for international distribution with the translations, which hints at a much larger production number. I have a good feeling he'll be more available than even the stateside masterpiece releases have been.

Amen to that. I'll pay Hasbro $150, but I'll be damned if I'll pay $250-300 to some scalper for this. Maybe they'll saturate the market like they did with Metroplex to make the scalpers no longer an issue

I like a $120 price point better (6 Voyagers x $20), but I'll begrudgingly pay the $150. Need to see more pics of the individual guys, but I don't think they're that bad. Kind of glad I waited and didn't spring for a 3rd party Devy. Just throwing it out there - do u think this Devy will hit Costcos? Was nice pickin up Metroplex for 80 bux.

People always ask why I don't have any 3rd Party stuff, and this is really why. Patience. I'm not anti 3P. I think there is alot of cool stuff out there. I've just learned to wait. All these new combiners are great proof of this.

Hey scale-nerds!

If this official Combiner Wars Devastator is around a foot and a half and the other Combiner Wars Gestalts (Superion, Menasor, Defensor etc) are around a foot, this Devy is going to look a bit silly alongside his combining buddies!

For me, if these 'Voyager' figures had the usual sort of engineering we have come to expect, before Hasbro went the way of the 'Upscale', I may have bought this as a display piece whilst I wait for the regular sized Combiner Wars Devy, you know, the one that scales with the rest of the line!!!
Hasbro, Im on to your Devy game. Oh yes!

He already is in scale. Have you seen how big construction vehicles get? Long Haul, especially, and even then, he's too small.

Lol - I should've said purple hands. I'm fine with black forearms and purple hands or purple forearms and hands. The black on black hasbro used is my least favorite choice.

I hope the G2 redeco rumor turns out to be true, and we get Yellow Devastator at Comic Con.
And you KNOW Takara is going to make the Purple hand version with crazy good paint apps.

Unfortunately, it seems WAY TOO MANY of us are living in the past when it comes to costs... Deluxes MSRP is $15; Voyagers MSRP is $25...6x25= $150.

Yeah, I WISH prices werent where they are, but UNLESS you catch a good buy somewhere, $15 & $25 is our reality.

I for one will be this...Decent price point (Im betting I can find one less than $150) and its freaking cool. As far as scale goes...have any of you nay-sayers seen HUMONGOUS construction equipment next to SUVs, helicopters, jets and race cars?? Devy being their same size WOULD be out of scale...Just sayin.

i may have been holding back my thoughts on CW devy because i dont want to rain on peoples parade. lots of people seem to like him and more power to you if youre one of em. combined mode is good, he's huge, and he doesnt cost $400+ like the competing 3P devastators.
buuuuttt....
this isnt going to be a major hasbro VS 3P debate, because those points are obvious. all ill say is its not as if advancements in engineering havent been made, so hasbro has no excuse. my main argument is... that hasbro has already incorporated these advancements!
look at what CW has already given us. functional combiners, with individual members who are fully functional and fully posable in their own right. not to mention, superion and menasor are comprised of four deluxes and a voyager while devastator is comprised of six voyagers. now ask yourself: do ANY of those constructicons look like they have the complexity or constructive quality of silverbolt or motormaster/prime? because i really dont think so. hell, even energon combiners had individually posable members. the fact that theyre classified as voyagers means they should live up to the standard theyve already set. why? because theyre charging more than the price of six voyagers. i can overlook hollow limbs, simple transformation, and soft sculpting, but not a lack of usable limbs. ive been enjoying posable TF's (and combiners) since late G2 and BW. why would i except less in 2015? these guys dont look like much more than blown up legends figures.
anyone can see that the order of importance for modes obviously went: devastator > alt modes > robot modes. you always have to make sacrifices, the more modes you incorporate. but the 3P's have done it much better. you can argue about "adult collectibles" or "adult standards" all day but for the price of six supposed voyagers, you shouldnt have to sacrifice as much (as it looks like they did) to make their devastator work.

But people have brought up the fact that voyagers have gone up in price.
Now for a more out there theory. What if there was a single budget for the entire line and there wasn't much left for poor old devy. Honestly I'd prefer this over the line of thinking some are taking were they did this on purpose

I actually agree with a lot of what you sad.
Its all very telling of the times. The engineering has come leaps and bounds, but Hasbro has to deal with staying afloat in today's market. Price points, price points, price points! Price of gas, Price of doing business, yadda yadda and a hey hey hey.
The engineering has progressed, but the quality has most certainly regressed. We all have been seeing it over the last year. Since the Prime line. Heck! Since Cybertron quality has really gone down hill.
I actually, in a way, kind of sympathize with Hasbro. It's probably a hard place to be in. The designers want to go all out, but in the end, TRU, Target, and all the retailers hold all the cards. I'd like to be a fly on the wall just to see the reactions from the designers every time the get a revision due to cost issues. I bet they are pissed. which also means ultimately, they are on our side.
