Did Mommy lie to me?! Image

Well, I'm a little fuzzy on the whole Transformers Gender thing...perhaps Long Haul is a mother? Of course, your Swoop not being a dinosaur comment in that other thread may have fried my brains....

It fried mine. I can legitimately say that my mommy did lie to me about that.
You think that was brain-frying? Get this, the term "Brontosaurus" has been just made legit as of this year! :michaelbay:

 Yeah, I just read that the other day. So, I have hope that, indeed, pterosaurs will be dinos again one day (for the first time?) Oh, and yes, I do have eyes on the back of my head, so don't tell my son otherwise!!

Now, all we need to figure out is who is Long Haul's child...

Indeed, I might need to go to bed now... :BOOM:

I'd like to address something that hasn't been beaten to death yet, the change in Mixmaster's alt mode.
Here's New Mixmaster:

These exist.

This:

Is not the only type of cement truck.

Why they changed it, I'm not clear on, since i don't think drum-forward trucks are any bigger than drum-backward trucks, but we're stuck with it.
Except we're probably not. We all know how much the third party market tries to fix Hasbro's figures, even with fixes that probably didn't need fixing. Someone will make a traditional Mixmaster, arms with elbows for everybody, better hands for Devy, and a bigger head. You can bet on it.

I'm tempted to call out long haul as having the worst/useless arms of any transformer but I'm sure I will get hammered with images showing me otherwise. Lol

Wiki to the rescue. :D
Mixmaster's change into an industrial cement mixer came about both to modernize him and to bring him into better scale with Long Haul's gigantic "mining dump truck" altmode.

I do understand the critiques though. The whole point behind this devastator was to fulfill the following line (or so it seems): A big G1 devastator made with today's toy engineering. Which is what CW Superion is pretty much. All the individual bots are still very simple and have that G1 bulk to them but have better articulation than G1. And as I showed with the head, all the deco and style is made to represent G1 devastator on the cartoon. So then it does seem odd that one of the lat modes have changed. It upsets ever so slightly the theme they had going for this guy. He was much less about updating the alt modes than any other Classics toy that came before so bringing that aspect back does clash a bit.

I am still getting him since he looks awesome, but I just wanted to say why I do see where people are coming from and I wouldn't call that nitpicking due to the overall theme that's going on with this figure.

That is really weird considering RotF Mixmaster.

Was ROTF Long Haul also a mining dump truck?

Or, it could have been a case where it was okay since ROTF Mixmaster only formed Devastator's head, which is a much smaller body part than a leg.

Yes. yes, he was...

[Edit] And having owned the legends movie Devastator, it suffered from all sorts of scale issues that were well hidden in the movie....

Yeah, all the RotF Constructicons were huge mining vehicles, like the design team looked for the largest of each type they could find.

Or, it could have been a case where it was okay since ROTF Mixmaster only formed Devastator's head, which is a much smaller body part than a leg.

That's true.

Although now I'm trying to look to see how big any kind of cement mixer can get and I'm not really finding anything. Type in "world's largest (other construction vehicles)" and you get loads of impressive pics where a person barely comes up to the machine's hubcap, but all the "world's largest cement mixers" can still drive down a normal street...

Yes. yes, he was...
Then I guess it must have been the latter case with Mixmaster permitted to be smaller since he "formed the head", so to speak.

I found a couple of really large ones, including one that is a semi:

Approximate G1 Mixmaster

Semi based mixer:

Generations Mixmaster:

But, yeah, in general, I don't think there is much demand for huge cement trucks. The actual applications of needing that much concrete is pretty rare, and can be accounted for by providing a quantity of trucks. Plus, why would concrete be needed in a mining operation? (And while this is fun, I am aware of the ironic nature of trying to apply logic to such a discussion. Still, it's fun. 8-} )

For HasTak's CHUG toy line. Titan Mixmaster's vehicle mode is close enough to the original. I've seen worse updates in the CHUG toy line and this isn't it.
