I live near a Costco, so if I'm right, then WOOHOOO!
Possibly? I feel that Devastator is going to be more popular than Metroplex was.
But, I mean, who wouldn't want 3 sets at Costco prices?!
There's a few things that need to be cleared up here:
1. Metroplex was at Costco for 79.99
2. Only a couple regions saw that markdown to $50/$60
3. Devastator's retail is higher to start, so the Costco price would be higher
4. There's no telling whether Costco will get stock
5. There's no telling whether, if Costco gets stock, it will go on clearance
Dash your dreams, boys and girls, Megatronus is here!!
It s a possibility, so don't rule it out till it doesn't happen.![]()
And what do you mean "Devastator's retail is higher to start"? Wasn't Metroplex more expensive since he was a third taller?
No, Metroplex started at $125. He was much more simple though, and not 6 individual voyager components that combine.
Well yeah, I started collecting in 2014, so I am not the one to ask. -_-

If you're gonna put up a scan of that fight, why not the panel where Optimus jumps on Devy's chest and actually shoots him in the face? Much cooler.

Ah I see. This panel is better for that purpose I suppose. And I love me some DW (it's superior to iDW, I believe) but that scale was really out there for Prime and Devy. When Devy was 1st shown, he was taller than skyscrapers.fenrir72 wrote:

Why is there so much speculation about price? Hasbro officially announced the retail price would be $149.99 U.S. all the way back in February. No one should have any trouble locating one for that price. Now the SDCC and Takara Tomy versions on the other hand...

Yeah, I am fine about $49.00, but if I can find it online or in a store for less, I'll go for it.

I think that's what everyone is talking about now. What the SDCC price will be...
As Jay5 pointed out, I really hope they do NOT jack the price up something fierce. The #1 thing Hasbro's version has going for it is size. #2 is price. At $150 it really can't compare with the $400-$500 Giants and Hercules...
However if they jack the price up to $250, $300, whatever.... that comparison is going to REALLY be brought to the front. What people see as flaws are going to be very difficult to dismiss at that point.
$150?? Yeah. That's a great price.

Bingo. I love the more detailed, complex, and thoughtful models like the Green Giant in comparison to true G1 Devastator. If it's $399 for GG vs $150-$200 for SDCC, no question, SDCC gets my purchase because it's not worth over twice the price to me for a GG. But if SDCC creeps above $200, that GG starts to become much more of a consideration.
I see what you guys are saying. Personally however, even if I have to pay $300 to get an SDCC version from a scalper off eBay, I'd still go that route over the current two third party options - without a moment of hesitation. For me, the Hasbro set has 3 things going for it that the 3rd parties do not:
1. Scale with Masterpiece line
2. Aesthetics fit with the Masterpiece line
3. In masterpiece fashion, individual robots are dead ringers for the original characters
Scaled-up Deluxe-class engineering or not, I want Scrapper, Mixmaster, Long Haul, Hook, Scavenger and Bonecrusher. Not...just some green robots who turn into construction vehicles. Which is what I personally feel you're getting with both Green Giant and Hercules.

We have discussed this many times before.... It's incredibly unlikely since that would mean a lot of re-engineering and such, plus I believe Hasbro said they wanted to do a really faithful traditional Devastator in an interview, which is why they didn't have prowl in the first place.
