I'm the exact opposite. I still remember the 1st time I read Marvel comics issue #10 over 25 years ago, and when Shockwave created then released the Constructicons under Soundwave's authority, I thought "whatever, just 6 more 'cons." But when they combined, I was like "Holy crap...!" even if their mission wasn't a big success. Combiners have always been special to me, more so than any other gimmick that followed. To me, gestalt teams are special and they should be displayed as such. No matter how simple or underwhelming they turned out to be, I have always been fascinated with combiner engineering, and I like to show off the ability of the figures to combine. So for me, it has always been about the sum, not the parts. Though I do enjoy a team that can kick ass as individuals in a fiction.
As for this Titan Devy, his size never impressed me much, but I did like the detail and the combination process. However, I think he's too big for the other gestalts, so he is with the Masterpieces, he scales with them much better. I wish Hasbro and/or Takara would release a version with 6 deluxes. They wouldn't have to change anything, just shrink the figures a bit. It might even make transformation simpler. But I wouldn't care, Devastator would still look great.
