That's quite a nice way putting it ;)

Well, IMO the IDW Prowl is the most interesting Prowl we've ever gotten and I love it! Flipping tables  :BOT:

Wow, step away for a couple days and you miss an awesome few pages of thread. Ah well.

Remember this post I made?

ScottyP wrote:That Prowl bio is magnificent. Touches on the G1 tech spec, his IDW personality, and the table. Whoever they've got writing these is on point, and unusually so. Must be someone at IDW, right?
So I found out who wrote/writes the CW bios yesterday, in an unusual but very cool way: The author tweeted at me. Made my morning, quite frankly :)

‏@markeweber wrote:@Scotty__P Appreciate the kind words in the http://Seibertron.com thread. I loved writing the Combiner Wars bios - glad you like them too.

So let this be an example of why you shouldn't say you want stupid things, as these folks do listen and I'm sure to some extent crave the feedback. Hell, if there were whole discussion boards about things related to my job output and what was good, what else should be there later, etc, I'd be on that like a starving man at Golden Corral.

The Mirage fan mode is cool, but all I can think of is the Machine Wars mold. The chest is just too much. G1 toy's blocky robot mode aside, I've never thought of Mirage as anything but sleek, and that mode is just, well, not. I still applaud the effort, very cool to see!

That is so cool that he acknowledged your post. I really like the bios myself. Love that they are using Rung. And for the fan mode Mirage. I think that may be the only one I pick up from this line because of that. It sets him apart.

As for mold fatigue: I think I'd feel less fatigue if these were more unique or obscure characters rather than the tried and true.
I have been into transformers since 1984.

I'd be all for seeing what the mold looks like in Machine Wars colors.

Also, it'd make a perfect G2 Leadfoot, though that's probably unlikely because he'd be another yellow deco of the mold.

I do like all these characters, but I'm only gonna grab Prowl, A: for his clever bio, B: because I need one other then my broken classics mold and crappy Prime mold.

Also, table flippage.

They are my most favorite G1 toy. The C/U mold was such a let down at the time, but I sucked it up, and excepted it. The more I mess with CW Prowl the more I like him, and I liked him just fine from the get go. The head sculpt is really phenomenal, and just makes the C/U head look like a :o) . Is it the best sculpt since G1? Maybe, but I still really like MP Bluestreak's mug (which is different than MP Prowl's).
All that being said, I am certainly looking forward to Smokescreen, and really hope we get a Streak from an easily attainable source.

P.S. CW Ironhide is starting to grow on me. :D

You know while I may pass on this mold, I love CW Smokescreen. I Try to find different molds for the old G1 redecos. Seibertron's fan mode for Mirage is making me want to track him down. Any way to rework the arms so the gaping wrists don't show?

Oh and I personally think the universe 'streaker and 'swipe molds are awesome. Some of the best of the line.

I'm going to get one and experiment. Cause I really want to preserve the transformation. It may just be a question of what I'd like more.

Seibertron, any rough idea when we may see some of these in the gallery?

Hey mizzy,
I'm fooling with Mirage as we speak. His shoulders are just big ball joints that pop right off! If you don't mind some "parts forming" for transformation. You don't even have to flip the hands.
Check it out...

People might find it all fun and games, but Hasbro could seriously look at this and say "well if thats how the fans want their Generations Dinos then lets go". And what would we get when it comes out? "F&%k you Hasblo for more repaints!!!" and "Seriously, THIS is how you give us combineing Dinobots?!".

So seriously guys, would you really want these digibashes to be a reality, and pay money for them? Or would you complain that the amount of repaints is truly out of hand?

I would, because: A) that still looks awesome (with exception of the op/mm mold, that needs to die in a corner) and B) combiners :michaelbay:

Kinda wish 3p companies would make actual accessories for the cw figures, like a feral rex style combo sword, and a hercules style combo gun. Guess they're too busy making $600 combiners no one wants in light of cw

I really don't get how people feel that G1 Mirage was sleek in any way. Or at least feel that he was sleeker than the other Autobots, when such was never the case. Sure, the Classics toy had a sleek body, but that's not how G1 Mirage looked. He was no more sleek than any other Autobot. He was just as much a walking stack of blocks as the rest of them, with the only real difference was that he wore the nose of an F-1 racer on his chest.

Here's his G1 animation model, which is a far cry from the lean, agile, athletic look that his Classics toy had:
Image

And here's his G1 toy, which is even less sleek than the cartoon model by a long shot:
Image

The Classics toy might look the nicer of the two (even though it took away Mirage's most recognizable body feature and turned it into a gun), but add in the fan mode and the Generations toy becomes even more faithful to the "block stack" look of the G1 animation model (and the G1 toy) than it already was:

And here's the RobotMasters Rijie just cuz:

So this proves that most Gwhiners don't actually know what they want/what's going on, except to hate everything because: not G1 (which in and of itself doesn't actually make sense)

I think a lot of it is relying on rose-tinted memories for constructing statements; which is why these old animation models really help set the record straight.

Could the want for a sleeker Mirage come from the fact that it goes more in theme with his alt mode?

Thing is, Mirage hasn't even been depicted in fiction as having need for a sleek body. His schtick was always "turns invisible" or "creates illusions". Though he turns into an altmode built for speed and racing, the blue Autobot who was much better known for having a speedy build was (and still is) Blurr. Mirage was a spy, Blurr was the speedster.

My answer for combiner characters great looking vehicle modes bot mode suffers I will stick with deluxe get nations, but devastator almost perfect in all three modes vehicle great, bot mode natural but I don't keep them in bot modes it don't matter to me, combined mode perfect with some negative parts if your looking to nit pick and keep in looking at back shelf all you see is back side of devastator

I think the classics one pulled it off in spirit, he was far and away my favorite update in that line, he was just so different, but it felt very natural.

But, I have no idea what's going on with cw mirage's face though; It doesn't really look like any previous versions, and the mouth is so poorly defined, it looks like a frown line with a cleft chin attached to it. It'd have been cool, if they had designed him with a mask-styled face like his G1 toy, but mix sleeker elements from the classics verison into it.

Also, unless you're self proclaiming it, I wouldn't classify you as a GWhiner, I don't think.
